Faith alone, not saved by works, when we confess Christ for we are fleshy, and that is all we can do.
Faith without works is dead, and a person is justified by works, and not faith alone, after a person receives the Spirit, for then they are spiritual, and the responsibility falls on them for the Spirit will not twist their arm to live for God,so they have to make the choice to do the works of the Spirit, which some may lack.
Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Jesus told the ones who lacked doing the first works, that they have fallen, and to repent, and if they did not repent they would not have salvation, for Jesus would remove their candlestick, and those whose works were not perfect before God to repent, and if they did not repent,He would come upon them, and they will not know when, and they will not receive salvation.
If works do not apply to salvation why would Jesus tell them to do the works, and if they do not do the works, they will not receive salvation.
And if they say works do not save them, but they will do them because they have been saved, then how did they lack the works, and how could they have fallen.
Which is the point of the OSAS,that they cannot ever be in a postion of not being right with God,not even for a millisecond, but Jesus said they have fallen, and repent.
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
Paul plainly states that if anybody believes God blesses with money, and material things, and preaches that, withdraw yourselves from them, and having food, and clothing,be content.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
For they love money, and their wants, and neglect the poor and needy, and have erred from the faith.
1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
God only blesses us with our needs, not our wants, and said, some people pray amiss to consume it upon their lusts, and if anybody has the means to help the poor and needy, and does not do it,then the love of God does not dwell in them, for God loves people, not giving the saints their wants.
Let us not love in word only, but in deed, and in truth, which is charity, love in action, for God said have love in action, and if not love in action, then the love of God does not dwell in them.
Which means they are not right with God,and the prosperity Gospel neglects the poor and needy, which those preachers that preach that are living quite good money wise.
Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
They can say if we do not do works we are not showing our faith to people, and it has nothing to do with doing works to be saved, but that is not what James is saying.
Do not love in word only, but love is deed, and in truth.
James is plainly stating a salvation issue, for if a person says I love you to a saint, and says go be fed,and clothed, but does nothing to help the saint in food, and clothing, then their faith is dead, for the love of God does not dwell in them.
Also James said their faith is dead,so it has nothing to do with showing people their faith, for their faith would not be dead if they did not show people their faith, but it means if they do not help the poor, then the love of God does not dwell in them,so their faith is dead, does not exist.
Love not in word only, but in deed, and in truth.
Our works are not to show people that we have faith, but we must do the works of the Spirit,or our faith is dead, for the love of God would not dwell in us,unless we do the works of the Spirit.
And if they say that works does not save them, but they will do works because of salvation, then why did the people that Jesus addressed that said were fallen, lack those works, and if they were fallen then they were right at one time, and if Jesus told them to repent they can still be saved, and if they did not repent,Jesus would remove their candlestick from out of its place.
If works does not save us,and is a result of a person being saved, that they will do the works, then how did they lack works in the Church Jesus addressed that were saved.
So it is obvious that a person that has been saved, can lack works, and if they do lack works, the love of God does not dwell in them, which they left their first love, which might be the love of people,to help them with their needs, and not only say,I love you.
