In order to even fathom grace, we have to know just how heavy that burden was that Jesus carried. The Christians that have not carried that burden have no idea of the weight of the cross. Some look at the cross, and say, ''Sorry, it's not for me.'' Other people carry it for a little ways, but get offended when the persecution comes. But others take it up and carry it all they way to the end.
May The Lord Jesus prepare my heart and my Spirit to be worthy of it. My flesh is weak, but my spirit is willing.
The weight of the burden of sin is far too much for me to carry. Jesus was the only one worthy of it. He was the only one righteous enough to carry it. He was indeed, the Son of God.
And this is how heavy the weight of the cross is:
The world has turned it's back on the Lord. The Lord is going to judge this world in righteousness and in truth. Anyone that continues in iniquity will end up in hell. And before the judgement seat of the Lord, EVERY person will answer for EVERY thing he or she has done in their body. Those whose name is not written in the Lamb's book of life will be thrown into the lake of fire, with no hope of escaping. Pain and torture for all eternity. No rest day nor night. Those who have done the will of God firm until the end will enter into eternal life.
There are many people in hell right now who had an opportunity to repent of their sins, and to follow Jesus, but they passed up that right. They put it off to another day, but that day never came.
The things Jesus suffered in his flesh was for the sake of our souls. He took on the everlasting punishment of death, knowing how terrible it is, so that anyone that receives his salvation, repents of sin, and obeys him, will not have to be thrown into hell. This is the weight of rejecting him. This is the cost of not listening to his Spirit as he calls for repentance.
And here is the grace:
Many people are in hell right now, but YOU have an opportunity to repent. As long as you are still alive, you have an opportunity to repent and be saved. It is weighty when one thinks about family members who may be in hell, or friends, or loved ones. But you will not answer to them. It is one to one. Every single person has a choice. If you will repent today, you will be saved, and then obey Jesus. Love one another and forgive one another. If you continue in the love he has shown you, you will be okay, and will not have to fear.
But those who should be walking in this love, they are the fearful and unbelieving. They are the ones that the Lord will say to them, ''Go away from me, I never knew you.''
They will stand before the Lord, and the hosts of heaven, and he will throw them into the lake of fire with all unbelievers. The whole world will know that the Lord is Lord.
The whole entire world will know that Jesus Christ is that lamb that was slain. They will know, but will it be too late? I pray that you will hear the voice of the Lord today and repent. Receive that peace today. Don't let the time go by. Now! is the time for salvation.
