Matthew 6:14-15

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

I think we all know that it is hard to forgive bad things that people do to you. I really try to get over those things, but I don't think I ever completely get over some of those things. Maybe I have lost my salvation.
if your salvation is important start forgiving it’s simple. It’s not just a verse or two it’s actually the core of the gospel

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom.

For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38‬

how we treat others who sin against us is exactly how he will treat us when we stand before him.

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

as far as a warning of the consequences consider this

“Then his Lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

And his Lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:32-35‬

couldn’t be clearer but it’s about who will hear and believe you don’t have to go befriend the person , Jesus is saying when you pray forgive my one who you have something against

your dealing with God on the matter , you don’t want someone to be held guilty on your account so you want to make sure you forgive them when your dealing with your father in heaven

it’s at the point we hear what Jesus is saying and realize it that our old mknd wants to make it not doable or not important or not true

it is though your not lost you just need to let the word make you grow

yes it also holds our own sins over our head when we do that to others

“ by the same measure you judge others and condemn others and refuse to forgive others , it will be done unto you so the same “ pretty consistent teaching in the New Testament.

the thing is this if we believe Jesus death and suffering is enough to cover our own wrongs and misdeeds and offenses we’ve committed against others

we cannot refuse to honor that for those who offend us because Jesus does for them also for the things they do wrong to others when a Christian refuses to forgive they are denying the power of Christs blood to cover the sin of mankind

and denying that Gods mercy is t something g we simply say he gave to us but something we receive from the gospel d hen he teaches us to reciprocate and let it flow to others

only Jesus has The right to teach mankind how to be saved , how to be forgiven , how to have eternal
Life with him and so his teachings are simply true

if we forgive others now that we have received Gods mercy because we understand what’s been done the. We will be forgiven for here forward , and if we refuse to forgive others and claiming we’re filled with the Holy Spirit and saved already without doubt we simply have to acknolwedge the truth of things like this and repent start forgiving others it’s based on what the lord said

Also the thing is just as Jesus teaches us to forgive Satan is the one behind holding grudges because of this we just need to let the truth in even if it changes what we thought , it’s actually
Meant to change what we thought before we learned the gospel

“in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭

Unforgiveness is contrary to the entire new testaments message of mercy and truth

if we let the truth change our thinking our ways will follow suit if we realize how very important making sure to always forgive others it’s our nature to start doing it

Not sure this is the right rendering here.

If we are following Christ's model, then we should forgive like He did. He forgave us while we were YET sinners, He asked His Father to even forgive those who murdered Him.

He tells us to love our enemies.

Yes, there are always consequences to those that sin against us, but I don't think forgiving them before they ask for it is one.
He died for the ungodly while they were yet sinners, but He didn’t give forgiveness to all people. Gods forgiveness is accessed through faith in Christ which also requires repentance of sin.

This may sound shocking because we’re told to forgive indiscriminately by the church, but the Bible never says that. Forgiveness is conditional. That’s what the word says.

You are going beyond what is written.

Look to the parable of the shrewd manager in Luke. (I think ch 12)

The shrewd manager forgave some debt from everyone...some owed more than others. But in that commodity based economy all the forgiven amounts were equal in value. Some barely had any debt left while others had massive amounts to repay.

That would be what is a good idea to think about.

Faith is a muscle that is either strong from use or weak from neglect. Grace is the result of strong abilities to forgive.

If we could repent of our sin BEFORE being born again, and filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit, what would we need Him for?

Also, Jesus didn't seek forgiveness for those who murdered Him WHILE He was being murdered?
