You need to prove your point using scripture in its original setting. I haven't seen this yet.

Those who brought the charges against Calvin did present Scripture. Maybe study for the "Truth of Calvin," not for what you only desire to know.

You believe in permanent salvation, correct? So do I. What do you do with Jesus' statements to the seven churches?

. . .
It seems Jesus is saying that these churches must stay faithful, even unto death, to become saved. If they do not, he will "spew them out of his mouth". How does that fit with permanent salvation? Also, the language used in talking to the seven churches is distinctively Jewish. The letters are addressed to the "angel [messenger] of the church at X". There is no such concept for Christian churches. Also, "synagogue," "lampstand," and "candlestick" are used, which are not terms typically used of Christian churches.

Where does this concept of "various church ages" come from?

You do not listen very well.

This may be an EXPLANATION that I GAVE TO OTHERS, before you arrived. Neither did the Apostles, not JESUS ever use the word CHURCH. They USED the word ASSEMBLY. The WORD came about long After the people to a liking to the title Christian, where the title was thrust upon them at Antioch, probably as an insult, so soon after that they added to the definition of CHRISTIAN CHURCH. And NEITHER of those two WORDS were EVER SPOKEN BY JESUS. But because the Christians wanted to distance themselves from the O.T. Assembly. I THINK we made a mistake, by using the word Christian and adding the Word ekklêsia the word CHURCH. GOD intended the word for Christian, to be BELIEVER, and the Word for our Congregations to be ASSEMBLY.

QUOTE:
Greek NASB Number: 1577
Greek Word: ἐκκλησία
Transliterated Word: ekklêsia

Root: from 1537 and 2564;
Definition: an assembly, a (religious) congregation:--
New American Standard Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible. END QUOTE.

Jesus speaking to the LAST of the O.T. ASSEMBLY.
Now look at how it changed this VERSE:

John 10:16 (NASB)
16 "I have other sheep {N.T. ASSEMBLY}, which are not of this fold {O.T. ASSEMBLY}; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock {at the Rapture} with one shepherd {Jesus Christ}

That explanation in my last Post:
It is WRITTEN TO SPECIFIC CHURCHES, BUT ALL CHURCHES CAN BENEFIT FROM IT. SO IT DOES APPLY TO YOU AND ME, AND IT DID APPLY TO THE SPECIFIC CHURCH THAT HE WROTE IT TO.

Why is that so hard for you to understand ? ? ?

O.T. ASSEMBLY = They Believed in their heart (human spirit) that GOD will send a Messiah to pay for their SINS.
N.T. ASSEMBLY = We Believe in our heart (human spirit) that GOD did send a Messiah to pay for our SINS.

That is the same faith, the FAITH of ABRAHAM.
O.T. ASSEMBLY and N.T. ASSEMBLY are SAVED because of their EXACT SAME FAITH. IT NEVER WAS and IS because of something we DID DO.

Malachi 3:6 (NASB)
6 "For I, the LORD, do not change;
therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

BUT THE SYNAGOGUE, LAMPSTAND or CANDLESTICK, is not a person. WHAT HE IS SAYING IS: IF YOUR RULING ELDERS DO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS I POINTED OUT TO YOU, I WILL WALK AWAY FROM YOUR CHURCH. You are trying to read into these verses that which is NOT THERE AT ALL.

That is how Psuedo Christian Churches get started.

You cannot Contradict Scripture that He has said ELSEWHERE.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NCV)
8 I mean that you have been saved by grace through believing. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God.
9 It was not the result of your own efforts, so you cannot brag about it.

John 3:36 (ESV)
36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

It is NOT eternal, IF YOU CAN LOSE IT.
You CANNOT WALK AWAY
PERMANENTLY, if you are BORN AGAIN.
You WERE IMMERSED (BAPTIZED) into the SPIRITUAL BODY of JESUS CHRIST the moment YOU TRULY BELIEVED IN THE HEART which is the human spirit, NOT THE HEAD, you cannot Un-baptized you or Un-Immersed you, period.

There are Many who think they were saved, when they HAVE NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO THAT DEFINITION.

1 John 2:19 (NKJV)
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

HERE IS ANOTHER VERSE:

John 6:47 (HCSB)
47 I assure you: Anyone who believes has eternal life.

You are asking the WRONG QUESTION!
What does the BIBLE MEAN BY
BELIEVES ?

BELIEVE MEANS IT MUST BE IN THE HEART, with AGAPE LOVE.

IT IS NOT WITH THE INTELLECT OF YOUR HUMAN BRAIN.

Romans 10:10 (HCSB)
10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

OH MY, you may have missed the critical element of SALVATION, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART (Human Spirit); NOT WITH WHAT LIES BETWEEN YOUR EARS.

AND WHERE IS GOD's LOVE, IN THE HUMANS?

Romans 5:5 (HCSB)
5 This hope will not disappoint ⌊us⌋, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Titus 3:5-7 (HCSB)
5 He saved us not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

Romans 4:3-5 (NET)
3 For what does the scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."
4 Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.

1 Peter 1:3-5 (HCSB)
3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.
5 You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Thanks, but I think you missed the point. Jesus tells the seven churches in Revelation that they must endure until the end to be saved. That contradicts what we have as Christians, permanent salvation. I never said the lampstands, synagogues, or candlesticks were persons. I know what ekklesia means. Also, you did not mention where you got the idea that the seven churches represent seven church ages.

Since Jesus defined the kingdom as spiritual only, this refers to the church symbolically.
Oh my goodness...you are not understanding...there are no priests who can enter in and offer acceptable sacrifices, sir...all are unclean...please read what GOD says for Haggai to ask the priests...

You are questioning how the Jew can build a temple when the specs are not complete as per Ezekiel>
The SAME REASON why they will ignore Haggai 2, sir...

That is the only reason I said that.

They CAN NOT provide a pure priestly bloodline, they were all, all men were, declared unclean...yet...they will build a temple and enter in to offer unacceptable, tainted sacrifies, from the hands of unacceptable, tainted men who CAN NOT ENTER in...unless first washed by the ONE WHO WASHES...

This is true but you need to recognize the symbolism in OT kingdom prophecies.
The symbols are just that sir...shadows and signs that are passing and are all the realities fulfilled and found In CHRIST...

YOU ASK WAY TO MANY QUESTIONS to answer them all on one POST. Try to limit them to one or two questions.

I will answer the last question. I did not know that OTHER CHURCHES were not teaching about Church History.

It comes from the HISTORICAL FACT that in every age the CHURCH went through, ONE TYPE OF CHURCH DOMINATED the rest. YES, all seven have always been there, BUT ONE DOMINATES THE REST. IT IS EXACTLY in the SAME ORDER that JESUS put them in the first 3 Chapters in Revelation. I MEAN, EXACTLY THE SAME ORDER, and it is proof that HE inspired the BIBLE. We were in the PHILIDELPHIA-AGE, from about the mid 1830's the early 1960. There were more MISSIONARIES sent out during this 130+ than all of Church History prior to that. THEN, MY GENERATION DROPPED THE BALL, and we have been into the LUKEWARM THEOLOGY, the Laodicean-Age that HE said HE about to VOMIT them out of his mouth. It spun into all kinds of ERRORS, women preachers, all kinds of isms and skisms, liberal thinking and theology, more and more do not think the BIBLE IS ALL INSPIRED, More Churches are questioning the Accuracy of the STORY of Creation, more Psuedo Christian CULTS, Etc., Etc., and Etc.

All evangelicals teach the Church History as well as OSAS Doctrine, AND Born Again. Most of mainline Churches agree with some OSAS parts of the Doctrine. That would include IFCA Churches, Independent BIBLE Churches, Evangelical Free Churches, Independent Community Churches, Grace Brethren Churches, Independent Baptists Churches, most of the other Baptist Churches, etc., and like I said some of the OTHERS, all teach certain Parts of the OSAS DOCTRINES. I am talking about Core of Christians Churches, and we all can tell you which Denomination, or the TYPE of Christian Service we attend. HOWEVER, almost NONE of people who vehemently do not believe in OSAS DOCTRINES, and some even call us the Antichrists Church, will NOT admit what type or Denomination they go to.
I FIND THAT REALITY VERY STRANGE INDEED.

Just so you know, I attend a OSAS, Born Again, Evangelical Based, nondenominational COMMUNITY BIBLE TEACHING CHURCH.

Back up 60 pages. Why is there a Third Temple prophesied at all? The Second Temple had not yet been built when Daniel was written.

You do not understand what I AM SAYING.

WE ARE CHANGED IN OUR HUMAN SPIRIT to Eternal Desires.
IT IS NOT ENDURE TO THE END THAT COUNTS, it is WHY WE ENDURE TO THE END, and that is BECAUSE WE have in our Hearts (Human Spirit), to AGAPE LOVE HIM, a NEW NATURE of our Born Again Human Spirit.

NO OTHER MOTIVE IS GOD PLEASED WITH.

John 14:15 (HCSB)
15If you love Me, you will keep My commands.

THE AGAPE LOVE IS THE LOVE HE PUT IN OUR HEARTS during the BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE.

No AGAPE LOVE FOR HIM, is the SAME AS FILTHY RAGS FOR THE MOTIVE.

Romans 5:5 (HCSB)

That temple was in the process of being built sir. It is not the temple which Paul speaks of to the church of Thesselonians, or the man in linen speaks of to Daniel...

That temple will be built when HE who holds all things is taken out of the way and will be delayed for 21 days ....just as is written

Please refer to 2 thesselonians and Daniel 10

In fact, that temple was being built even in the time of Daniel, but as Daniel 10 opens with, the things which Daniel are given to see were not until a later time.

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

And yet, he still lives if you or anyone else abides by his perception and false interpretation of Scripture. In essence, that makes modern day Calvin's.

It's like choosing someone who presents 3/5's of the truth vs someone who present the whole truth. Why align with someone who fails to amount with 100% absolute truth?

For full disclosure, I'm a historicist but not an amillenialist. I believe many of the prophecies of Revelation have been fulfilled throughout these last 2000 years up to the present - including the beast (Paul's "man of sin" prophecy) - with more prophecies still remaining including a literal 1000-year reign still in the future.

...So agree with some points from both sides of the arguments here while differing on others.

----

As far as a third temple; as I understand it, one side believes there will be a 3rd temple because a man known as the antichrist must proclaim himself as God in it; a view supported by prophecies like in Ezekiel, and because there are folks in Israel currently making plans to build one.

I differ on this belief because Paul said the "man of sin" will sit "in the temple of God". I think I read both sides agreeing with the fact that whatever they build will not be the Almighty's.

So by process of elimination, the only temple on earth right now that IS the Almighty's is His people. I believe this is why Paul mentions the "man of sin" sitting in the Almighty's temple in the same passage as "the apostasy" (i.e. the falling away of believers from the true faith; being under a delusion; believing in a lie).

To me, what Paul is explaining is about the belief in who this individual represents himself to be, not about where he physically parks his rear end. It's about this man sitting in believers' hearts; it's about them loving this man as if he were God on earth.

Anyone can built me a house and say it's mine, but if I never approved it and don't claim it after the build is finished, then even if they put my name on the door is it still mine?

Israelis who don't believe in the Messiah can build whatever they want and call it whatever they want and it still wouldn't qualify as the Almighty's temple just because they made it...and if it isn't even the Almighty's temple how can it fulfill the prophecy?

At the heart of the prophecy is the act of corrupting the Almighty's temple. An abomination. How can they corrupt something that's not even sanctified as His?

This is my take on the current situation
