Yes when the stone was rolled away, the water was availed to all the flocks to drink and live……..I have always loved this foretelling of our Salvation.
And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.
(Genesis 29:3)

Pisteuo,
re: "Why would you entertain any other scenario..."

I'm trying not to, but I'm afraid I keep letting myself get drawn off topic. This one is concerned with one issue and one issue only. See post #481 on page 25.

You mentioned the empty tomb on Sunday morning so that meant the latest Jesus rose was on Saturday.

Why couldn't that have been between 6pm Saturday evening until the next morning sum 12 hours later for all the time between that is Sunday, the night part of a Jewish day is always the first part of a day then follows a sunrise until dusk the end of a day.
The prophecy Jesus said was as Jonah was in the belly of the big fish for 3 nights and 3 days so the son of man would be in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights.

Matthew 12 AMPC
39 But He replied to them, An evil and adulterous generation (a generation [t]morally unfaithful to God) seeks and demands a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
40 For even as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

I have posted this before.
There is the weekly Sabbath and there are yearly Sabbaths. Passover week has a Sabbath the first and last day of the Passover week. Jesus was crucified during Passover week. The Sabbath he was crucified before was the second Sabbath of Passover. He was gone from the grave on Sunday morning. That meant the latest He rose was Saturday late afternoon since that was the time of day he was buried.
Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
That meant the latest He was put in the grave was Wednesday late afternoon. If that was the case then the second Passover Sabbath was Thursday. 2 Sabbaths close together, Thursday and Saturday. Thus the confusion about the 3 days and nights trying to be Friday to Sunday. In one of the gospels the term high day is used about the Sabbath he was crucified before. Thus meaning an annual Sabbath.

Much confussion today I belive comes from redefining words... adding new meaning to them .Which would be in violation of the warning given in Deuteronomy 4. Change the meaning of one word change the intent of the author you could say in the end committing blasphemy. (plagiarism after the father of lies) In the end violating the first commandment .

The word Sabbath is not a time sentive word in any way shape or form. Some change the word to mean "week" for instance.

The scripture speak of two kinds of sabbaths .One our daily sabbath that comes from believing God according to when we mix faith in what we do hear. In believing are hearts our made soft. (Hebrew 4)

The ceremonial Sabbath is a shadow of the true rest our daily, hourly rest The ceremonial sabbath, a day set aside from the regular routine of feeding these bodies that will die. It is a day set aside that we can offer as the fast, the sharing our bread the gospel .

The Mathew 28:1 reference where many translations change the rest term "Sabbath" in a time sensitive word, "week", destroy the introduction of the new era of Sabbaths moved to the first day of the week . The day when God said let there be light and there was. I would think to represent the new creation

The way we define the parable the "heart of the earth" determines the outcome. Because it is the sign as a wonder (the sign of Jonas ) as the last given. The two accounts old testament (Jonas) as well as the new with different prophets lifted up each other as one working together as two.

The demonstration clearly began in the garden Thursday . The father and Son who worked together in perfect harmony and mutual submission to one another as a finished work did in effect bring the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding. It began as the father poured out the wrath intended for us on Thursday (.Unto death.. not dead big difference in the end) a living sacrifice.

Matthew 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

To make sure nothing was accredited to the creature the father put the disciples to sleep they had no part in it.

Sorry Charlie (Sunkist add) a day in the Bible is from sunset to sunset unless context makes it only during daylight. 3 hours would never be called a day!! Also Jonah was in the belly of the big fish for 3 days and nights. Quit trying to rewrite the Bible. Jesus was crucified during Passover week which begins and ends with an annual Sabbath. That was the Sabbath he was crucified the day before which was a Wednesday. Put into the tomb just before sunset. That way 3 days later he rose in the late afternoon and the next morning was Sunday with the tomb being empty.

I would agree the three day work as a living sacrifice called belly of the whale, or heart of the earth began in the garden on Wednesday. Suffering a living hell. The dead that have no spirit cannot suffer.

If that is how you see it that's fine, I view it differently, to get to the belly of a whale got to pass through the teeth of the whale and exiting the whale up through throat pass the teeth unto land, when the whale Pharisees bounded him thus caught in the teeth, thus the count starts from there.

You ignore the words of the Bible. Whale is never mentioned. It was a big fish! Also there are whales that can open their mouth. You are thinking of a whale that has fine teeth that grabs very small organisms from the sea. There are many whales that open their mouths very wide. You should look things up before posting. Like I did to find the following site.

You should accept what Jesus said about it.

Matthew 12 AMPC
39 But He replied to them, An evil and adulterous generation (a generation morally unfaithful to God) seeks and demands a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Peace out,

What I believe must be determined is the spiritual meaning hid in the parable. First and foremost is how do we reconcile "belly of the whale" and "heart of the earth" two metaphors. What does the heart of the earth represent seeing it involves a living sacrifice?

This is not a parable. It was a prophecy from Jesus referring to a historical event.

To me you are doing rabbinical hair splitting. I use the KISS method. (Keep It Simple Stupid) I worked in electronics and software for 40 years. That was the watchword for both disciplines. I go by the plain wording in the Bible. Not trying to find hidden meanings. The original languages of the Bible are Hebrew, Aramaic, and koine Judeo Greek. Judeo Greek is what the New Testament is written in. When Jews use a language other than Hebrew they bring the Hebrew concepts and phrases with them and that is what the form of Greek the New Testament was written in. Yiddish is Judeo German. Everywhere the Jews go they modify the language that way.

KISS you can't try and line up the Julian calander with the Hebrew calander by saying it was Wednesday like you have done. Sorry starkist you would have to try and subtract or add back all the adjustments to both calanders have done over the last sum 2000 years, to see if Wednesday was the actual Julian calander day that equaled to the 14th Abib in the year on the Hebrew calander.

Good Friday was made up by a Roman Catholic Pope.
Modern interpreters of the Bible make Jesus Christ a liar.
They say Jesus was crucified on Good Friday, buried about sundown the same day,
and arose on the next Sunday about daybreak in contradiction to the Scriptures!
Any schoolboy knows that this is only two nights and one day.
If He were crucified on Good Friday and arose on Sunday morning as they say,
then He did not literally fulfill the sign of Jonah.
If He did not fulfill this sign as He promised the Jews,
then He was an impostor and not the Messiah!
In other words, Jesus Christ lied to the Jews about His burial and Resurrection.
If the Good Friday theory is correct as some teach, then the Bible contains “highly figurative language”
which requires a human interpreter to tell people what the verses really mean.
By this same liberal method of interpreting the Scriptures
you can destroy every basic doctrine in the Bible.
I do not care very much for what scholars say! But I am greatly concerned about not accusing my Lord of lying!
Jesus Christ plainly said He would be in the grave “three days and three nights”.
He emphatically declared He would rise again “after three days”.
He could not lie!
The truths are: Jesus Christ was crucified on Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday was a mid-week Sabbath for the Passover.
He was raised from death on Saturday at sundown, so the Easter Sunrise Services are wrong.

When in human history has the majority ever been right?

Endoscopy,
re: "You should accept what Jesus said about it."

And what He said about it was that 3 nights would be involved with His time in the "heart of the earth". However, a 6th day of the week death/1st day of the week resurrection does not allow for a 3rd night.

To account for the lack of a 3rd night, some 6th day/1st day of the week advocates say that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language. This topic is merely requesting examples to support the assertion of commanality. So far none have been forthcoming.

As far as sacrifices are concerned, the night after a sacrifice is brought is an extension of the day it is brought. Therefore, when it comes to the celebration of the Passover sacrifice, while it was eaten on the 15th, it was considered to be the same day as the 14th.

Hmm I wonder if a night is part of a day or is it a day all by itself.
