Jesus tells us to do some things that are not necessarily easy. He tells us to repent. He even tells us we need to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.

I do not consider disobedience to Jesus to be an option. I might fail a million times in my efforts to obey his commandments, but I must keep trying until I succeed.

I’ve noticed some people seem to take a different approach: They rationalize. They decide they can’t obey Jesus for this reason or they can’t obey Jesus for that reason.

What do you think?

I think we have to obey Jesus/God no matter what. If we don't understand something we either have to take it on faith, or pray about it and maybe God will explain things for us (though we remember that He doesn't have to).

I think you are right on track. What i do is rather than try to obey Jesus i tell Him I can't so He need to kill my flesh, and take over my life. I have it is a lot easier to do what God says when it is Jesus doing it through you and for you.

I think you are better off obeying Jesus, unless that’s what you were saying.

What i am saying is we can;t obey Jesus. So what we need to do is kill our flesh and let the perfect one perfect us. When our flesh is dead, and we are walking in the Spirit then yes we will walk in perfect obedience to God's word. That is what we need to do.

We have to obey Jesus. He is our Lord. True, we need his guidance, but then we need to obey.

i agree with you, but what you need to know is that it is humanly impossible to obet God, we need the supernatural indweeling of Christ, and empowerment of the Holy Spirit to accomplish this. The first step to being perfected is to realize it is not us, but Christ is us and that we on our own would never be able to accomplish anything, only by the grace of God working is us and for us enables us to accomplish perfection. Even then it is not us, but the Holy Spirit working in us that accomplishes this, yet when we get to Heaven we get the credit.

We must develop the discipline to resist temptation. Jesus shows us what to do, but it is up to us to do it.

I get upset when I hear someone say, "Oh, well we sin all the time, so just this once is okay."

Unless God is helping you you will fail. But with him all things can be done. We surrender to him and do our best. He does the rest.
