Concerning your words: "It is dishonest to add to a persons words which they did not say."
Yet, you said "Where did i exalt myself above you or Scripture here?"
You added "or Scripture" to what I said, since I implied nothing of the sort. So will you confess your dishonesty and double standard?

It's possible I misunderstood your response. But my point is that there is only one way to prove that the tongues spoken is of God, and that is to translate it, which men can do, and which they actually do. It's no different than translating Ugaritic text or hieroglyphics. If the tongues convey a message, it can be translated. Why keep people in the dark about it?
We are looking at two different things here.

You want to prove tongues is real/authentic by recording and applying methodology to known languages and or language structure.

Yes or No

AGAIN = You added "or Scripture" to what I said, since I implied nothing of the sort. So will you confess your dishonesty and double standard?

i added the word 'Scripture' to my words, not yours = "Where did i exalt myself above you or Scripture".
i did this to demonstrate that no one has higher authority then Scripture, thus bringing us together under Christ,
which is GOD's Standard.

The Genuine Gift of Tongues absolutely conveys a known message = to God.

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him;
however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

Teaching people to speak in tongues happens all the time in the P/C churches, and none of the pastors and elders do anything about it. It's a systemic problem, and has nothing to do with licenses.
I can only speak for the AofG. No people are not taught to talk in tongues and yes it has everything to do with licenses. As I said, Benny Hinn was put out of the AofG for those type of tactics. Don't tell me you know different, I family that are pastors in the AofG, I grew up in it and was in ministry 20yrs. What other churches do I cannot speak to.

Have you read the prophets and the NT?
Nope totally skipped 'em.

People came to Paul and told him what was going on in the churches, for example in Corinth and the Galatian churches. Paul commanded the churches to exercise discipline on those who were doing wrong.
.
That's up to the pastor of the church, not you, not me. And this is a discussion forum, no one has spiritual authority over anyone else here.

Ok, I get that one of the last statements in the Bible is a "live and let live" philosophy - "let him who is righteous be righteous still..." It is rather tempting to say nothing. But then why are you posting here? Why aren't you taking your own advice?
.
Bro. I was in traveling ministry over 20yrs. I left my home and was away for half the year. I didn't see family or friends or get to go to my home church. Sang and preached as a family in much of Canada and east to south in the US. Thanks for asking.

In any event, I'm not the one doing the cleaning up, if that's what is taking place. It's just an expression. We all know (if we are knowledgeable Christians) that God is the one doing the cleaning. All I'm doing is pointing out that The Emperor Has No Clothes.
.
Still a man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest.

Did you read my original post as I asked? It's here:
https://christianchat.com/threads/tongues-false-teaching.196454/post-4737227
Oh yes, I think you said you didn't finish reading it. Because what? It was too wearisome to you?
.
Cast your gaze around, search this topic and you will find you are far from the first one here to make the very same arguments. Almost word for word. Yes, it's wearisome, it's been done to death here.

The only thing I've made up my mind about is that there is lots of counterfeit tongues going on, which P/C leaders actually do acknowledge. If you want to argue about that, go to them, since they're the ones in your camp saying it.
.
Lots is a general term. How many? Do you have facts backing this claim? If people fake something does that make everyone a fake? Does that make tongues fake? Because there are fakers? And no, they are not in my camp.

But I've not judged any particulars as fake. I'm saying let's evaluate it and see. But you seem to get the idea that I'm calling your tongue fake. Yet, I called no one a fake as you claim. Is this something weighing on youF
.

Bro, if it's not of God, jibberish or taught as you claim , then it has to be fake. No other choice is left open. You painted yourself into a corner, why would anything weigh on me? What other choice is there? Either it's fake or from God. smh

why are you debating about this?
.
Umm look at the top of the page, what's it say? Discussion Forum. We don't come here for cake recipes Bro.

As far as "asking the Lord with an honest and open heart what is real" as you put it, it was actually the Lord that told me that what I was doing was not authentic.
.
Maybe it wasn't, that doesn't mean everyone else had the experience you did.

has taken me years of study and observation to finally see that modern tongues is largely the same thing, and not of God, and P/C leaders are starting to acknowledge that more these days.
Annnnd there we have it. Not of God. So who is it of? It's not fake so what is it of. If it's not of God, if it's not his spirit where is it from?! smh The blind man said " All I know is once I was blind and now I can see".

Ok, let me point out that Jesus was speaking to His disciples, not to you. There may be an application to all Christians everywhere, but what we see in scripture is that not every Christian enacted the same witness or had the same gifts or power. Be careful what you assume about scripture, and understand that you have a bias, as we all do. What we do see in scripture is that every Christian has the Spirit of God, but not every Christian has the same spiritual gift.

But are you making a point about this? (then make it)
Never mind, I see you are incapable of having a serious discussion I will place you on ignore too.

Well, is it not you who cant show with scripture that your teaching/claim is correct.
And ignore the scripture which is against your view?

Are these real tongues or fake? You decide.

And this is what happens to every discussion on this subject. Every single time. Oh, I found someone who faked tongues!! Good for you. Do you know how many fake Christians there are?? Does that make you a fake? Does that make your experience a fake? Are you doing it by demon power? :devilish: That's what annoys me about this debate. As someone posted before, you'd be in the crowd saying " y'all are drunk" on the day of Pentecost. smh You don't believe, that's fine. But you don't get to twist Scripture to accuse everyone of either outright faking or demon power.

I see this debate goes on and on and on. Sort of not worried either way,...... by their fruits you will know them. I guess that means we're not known by our gifts. Galatians 5, always worth a read.

Nor can you brother. There is no where in the Bible that says tongues have ceased. There is no date or time given. You will argue back it will cease when the perfect has come. When is that? What is "perfect" as far as this age is concerned. The saints aren't, the church isn't. The perfect is when Christ returns. Some may argue that's not true. That's fine, but Paul says not to forbid tongues. If there was a time all tongues must totally cease, no more, done and over Paul would have set the date. He would have not been vague. If it was that serious an issue, he would have given a time of day and date that tongues must absolutely stop, he did not. There is not one person that can prove otherwise. You can assume all you want to, Paul's last statement was to not forbid it. He said nothing about it being demonic after 2 pm on Tuesday. You cannot prove it in Scripture, period. Nor can anyone else here. They are assuming.

Some will have the gift of tongues, some won't. The Bible says people have various gifts. No one argues over the other gifts, they argue over tongues because some morons that speak in tongues act like their gift is more special, it isn't. Same as any other of the gifts.

...... by their fruits you will know them.
I'm not exactly sure how you mean this, but I hear it quoted so often I thought I'd comment.

Matthew 7:16 is probably one of the most misquoted passages in all of scripture:

"But beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grape clusters from thorns, or figs from thistles? Thus every good tree produces good fruit, but a corrupt tree produces evil fruit. A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit."—Matthew 7:15-18

Notice what Jesus is talking about—false prophets. The good fruit and bad fruit are true and false teaching.

Usually this verse is interpreted to mean that we can know who is a true follower of the Lord by their behavior; that is, if they appear loving, kind and gentle they can be trusted. But Satan himself can pretend to be gentle, loving and kind; so can false prophets and false teachers. No one teaching by the Spirit of Christ can tell lies; and no one inspired by Satan can teach truth. There will always be lies mixed in somewhere. By their truth you will know them!

"From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips."—Proverbs 18:20

If someone doesn't want to believe tongues is for today, that is their right. What I have issue with is that most of the things that we receive from God, we receive by faith.
If one could refrain from spreading their unbelief around and destroying the faith of others to receive spiritual gifts, that would be one thing. But in their immaturity, they have to prove themselves right.
At this point I tell myself that it is the Lord that they are answerable to, not me.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

You know those are Fake because they also preach a False Doctrine of Prosperity plus other False Doctrines, and Copeland calls himself a little god, and Brown couldn't find the Truth to anything even if the Truth was plastered all around him.

That was priceless!!

If I was there, as a Tongue Speaking Believer, I would have Rebuked and Binded them in the Name of Yeshua of Nazareth!

Seeking signs and wonders (including tongues) is really a form of grumbling and complaining to God. What do you mean you may ask. Okay, I'll tell you.

In Numbers 11, the children of Israel complained and grumbled about the constant diet of manna. They weren't satisfied with what the Lord had provided for them. They still had one foot in Egypt. This angered the Lord and this was His response:

"Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have despised the Lord who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, 'Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?' "—Numbers 11:18-20

For many, God's word isn't enough. In the day to day of things they become bored and need more; they need a jolt of adrenaline. The reason for this, I believe, is because they're not sold out 100%. They still have worldly desires; God's word and the simple gospel by itself is boring.

"Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful."—Matthew 13:22

God's word is sufficient. If you're bored and want to complain to God that you need more, it's just evidence you still have a lot of the world in you.

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name we cast out demons, and in Your name we did many mighty works?’ And then I will confess to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who work iniquity!' "—Matthew 7:21-23

"Remember Lot's wife."—Luke 17:32
