The [specific 'event'] AoD is nowhere in Daniel 9.

Daniel 11 - yes
Daniel 12 - yes
Daniel 9 - no
Daniel 9 - yes:

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The AoD is the one who causes abominations to spread resulting in desolation.

Isa 33:6, And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

The words of Daniel 9:27 are not specifically referring to the AoD in 'event' terms. The use of the word 'overspreading' along with 'abominations' (plural) demonstrate to us that this is talking about "a collection of sins" (over time and multiple occurrances) rather than a singular 'event' such as is described in the passages in Daniel 11, 12.

In Daniel 11, 12 - the AoD - in 'event' terms - is what is being described and referred to.

In Daniel 9 - it is something altogether different.

Even if you go to the extent of including the [real, actual] AoD (167 B.C.) as being part of the 'abominations' (plural) of Daniel 9:27 - still - "the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet" in the Olivet Discourse is not referring to the Daniel 9 passage.

It is referring to the Daniel 11 passage - which the Daniel 12 passage [also] makes reference to.

When considering the phrase "spoken of by Daniel the prophet", remember that Daniel "speaks of it" (specifically) in the Daniel 11,12 passages but not the Daniel 9 passage.

It really is that simple.

Not in Daniel 9, it doesn't...

Yes it does. I already have proven it by providing scripture. Daniel wrote of a person who would cause abominations to overspread which caused desolation. That is the AoD in the plainest of language.

Please post your opinion on what triggers the Tribulation.

I say that everything evolves around the Temple. This one that promotes peace and security is done with deceit on his mind. World is pushing for a two state solution and that possibility is high on my list. There is plenty of acres on the Temple Mount for the temple to be built on the same platform. if it was to be built anywhere else in Jerusalem it would have already happened.

A person who can bring such a covenant to bear with many leaders/nations would be looked at as a potential messiah in the eyes of the jews.

First seal is opened at the announcement of the temple being built in Jerusalem IMO
Hi Omegatime,

After the Lord has brought the Body to maturity and caught it away to its eternal setting in glory, I believe the trigger for the Tribulation, is when God brings down the Russian Federation, (plus Iran, Ethiopia and Libya) to the Golan Heights in Israel for judgment.

When you see them amassing outside the Golan Heights on the Syrian side be ready.
