True humility as followers of Jesus, is not saying "woe is me, i'm so bad, I can't do this".........because in fact, God says in the Bible, we can do all things, through Christ strengthening us!!!!

So part of humility is saying, yes it's possible for me to do it, but only through Christ strengthening me, that's the key! We can't and don't have to do life alone!!

Also a reminder to myself and everyone who reads, you don't HAVE to do all things!!!!!!!! It would be possible for me to do brain surgery with God's help, but I really don't want to ;) peace

A pat on the back to you for starting a thread on this very unpopular topic!

We, as Christians, are aware that whatever knowledge we have, or wisdom, or anything else, comes from God. It is a gift to us, whom He loves so dearly. We realize this and we know all the right words to say giving God the glory for His gifts. The problem is our demeanor when we are exercising our particular ability or knowledge. It is somewhat difficult to explain accurately, but our Heavenly Father wants us to examine ourselves – not for me to examine you or you to examine your neighbor who professes to be a Christian, or someone in cc, or a Christian co-worker – you get the idea. Self-examination. It's not too hard to do. Simply think about a recent incident and make yourself recall exactly what you said as well as your body language if it applies. Obviously, an online discussion does not reflect body language. Then, mentally switch places with whomever you were talking with and hear your own words and tone of voice. Consider also how you made known you had something to say – was it with a self-important announcement of how you had something profound to add to the conversation? Or was it perhaps a more discreet method – ask a question I already know the answer to so I can show my vast intelligence after someone else comments? The point here is to get the whole message you gave.

This experiment is not difficult, but acknowledging the results honestly is. Human nature being what it is, we see ourselves differently than others do. We resist seeing the negative in ourselves so passionately that we refuse to admit the condescension or sarcasm in a comment or the smirk on our face as we comment to or ask a question of someone. We will deny it. So honest evaluation of ourselves is usually not very objective, therefore not really honest if left up to our human nature.

Modern civilization is heavily influenced by the ancient Greek culture, which abhorred the quality of humility in distinct contrast to Biblical teaching in both Old and New Testaments. Thus, the flesh wars against the spirit.

Lack of humility prohibits edification.

Hi everyone!

"Humility" is very interesting and so important in life. But sadly it seems that not many have it. This test can be very interesting. :)

Thanks, can we all now listen to each other and ponder truth in our hearts, and know or learn truth from error, as we trust the God of all, Jesus's Father to sort it out to us and not condemn others.
Be actually of one mind and one Spirit in humility to one another, I think all are possible too! with God and without we are nothing more than a clanging gong, praying for me to wake up, and anyone else that needs to as well

Personally, I am concerned with the humility of Christians toward one another and in God's eyes. Although this "humility test" could be a starting point...I guess....even though it is strictly carnal...rather "new-agey" I'd say.

You know if we could just take our eyes off of being Dogmatic, and just see God just love us as a common denominator, we all might learn the deep love of God and expound that to each other regardless of which way we come at it.
Bottom line are not we all looking for life everlasting in freedom to Love each other. This is exactly what God has been showing to all since the first day of Adam and Eve getting booted out to till the ground on their own.
First act from God who does not lie, Adam and Eve died, and God showed Mercy and clothed them.
Now what is so amazing about God is we kept free choice to serve self or God? Your free choice and mine and all the world
God only interfered in free choice when others took away others free choice, such as in the days of Noah, Man harming man, read it. Deliverance from the bondage of Egypt. Bodies die, Spirit and Souls do not.
Flesh is enmity towards God, does not serve God nor can it fro God is a Spirit and can only be worshipped in Spirit and truth, and is why through Christ at the cross we are to dead to the self with Christ and alive to God in true Love in the Spirit of God, by the resurrected Christ

Too many Divisions, sects, cults and separations read 1 Cor.
[h=3]1 Corinthians 3[/h]New International Version (NIV)

[h=3]The Church and Its Leaders[/h]3 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. [SUP]2 [/SUP]I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. [SUP]3 [/SUP]You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? [SUP]4 [/SUP]For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?
[SUP]5 [/SUP]What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. [SUP]6 [/SUP]I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. [SUP]7 [/SUP]So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. [SUP]8 [/SUP]The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

To say that God love us, that IS a dogmatic statement, because we don´t KNOW.
I thought this thread was about humility, not the opposite; convictions.
It feels like many people are not humble, they claim and are conviced of that we have just one life as a human being.
How do we KNOW that? I know people claiming that they remember past lifes. I don´t say they have right or wrong, I just try to stay open and humble, for whatever the truth is.

Humility before our Lord, helps us receive him to build us up in Jesus and not ourselves.

Thanks for your post, appreciated from me at least

What can humble anyone more than the abundant love of God to all through the power of the cross, God's love revealed.
when one sees the love, the depth. How can one see how far the east is from the west, can we? and this is the love of God to us all through the cross, the whole cross, not a half-sham Gospel, where he just died for our sins. He went further and took them away to give us new life in the Spirit of God, which flesh lacks having and Christ came to give this to us to make us whole with God the Father.
Colossians 1:22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—

When one sees the love of God, God revealing this to the one and many others as God sees fit
One loves because, God first loved them, shown through the cross, mainly the resurrection, where the power is at, for true humility, woe is me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

Growing up I admired Bruce Lee, much humble wisdom in confrontations
I like the one especially in Enter the Dragon, while on the boat and that other man that was beating upon the help, started to be a pest to Bruce and asked what is your style of fighting?
Bruce, replies why it is "the art of fighting without fighting" and if you have seen enter the dragon you see the out come.
anyway, there is a time for everything as in Ecclesiastes
