The unsaved are spiritually dead. Thats why they must be born again. If they died having come=on tinted to be in a state of unbelief (having never recieved christ) they will remain in this dead state for eternity

Born again is a change in body not in the mind. Jesus says in John 3: 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Notice verse 3, except a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. We have just learned something here. If you are not born again you can not see the kingdom of God.

But Paul talks about being renewed in likeness when you come under the blood of Jesus. Let's go into Romans 6: 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Also Paul says in Romans 12: 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

You seem to be saying the spirit is the mind or thoughts of a person. Not sure if I read you correctly, could you elaborate?

Spirits comes in many forms. The breathe of life is spirit, the Holy and Unholy angels are spirits, the thoughts of the mind is spirit. Let's take a look at something Jesus says in John 6: 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. So we have to study and read and believe what we reading, put this word of God within us, because this is the real change in the mind. Let's back up to verse 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

A man asked Jesus this very question, "...What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?", and Jesus replied, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-19).

Notice that the sinners will be "destroyed" and not tortured forever in the Lake of fire.
So now who is twisting Scripture by taking a passage out of context? That passage has nothing to do with the Lake of Fire. So go to Revelation 20 and 21 to learn some lessons. Then go to Mark chapter 9. And continue studying the New Testament passages about eternal Hell. Only cultists reject the reality of Hell.

God says in His Word that the penalty for sin is death. Believers and unbelievers take these words out of context and twist them around to fit their narrative, whether they understand it or not. Those who do not study the Word of God and don't have a close personal relationship with Him may have difficulty discerning between the physical and spiritual death of people. Death is inevitable for all of humanity. It was through Adam and Eve's disobedience that we were all born into sin. As Christians, we can find peace in knowing that our sins are paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. Many believe however that the Bible teaches that the "wages of sin" is eternal torture. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that. It says in Isaiah 13:9, "Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it." Notice that the sinners will be "destroyed" and not tortured forever in the Lake of fire. When sin runs rampant in a Christian's life, it can cause death either due to the natural consequences of that sin or because God allowed it. But for the Christian, death is a physical one and not the final judgment by which unbelievers will be tortured forever.

So why did the Author use the word "wages" in describing sin and death? The answer is pretty simple. When we work a job, we hope to get paid what we deserve. So, through the work of sin that is within us, the payment is death. It's our "wages" for sin. We go through most of our lives thinking that we deserve more or better. But, what we actually deserve is death.

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ." Paul addresses the Church and contrasts between sin and grace, death and life. Because of humanity's fall(Adam and Eve), we all will die. But because of God's love, He has given us the greatest and most important gift for humanity.........Jesus! We will have everlasting life after our physical bodies die. This Bible verse is probably the most precise Gospel presentation in Scripture. It's to the point, leading us to understand our sinful nature and the promise of everlasting life with Jesus!
The second death is eternal punishment. rev 20:13-15

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Now if anyone goes into this second death, that means Christ did not die for them ! Christ blood didnt pay for their sins !
