The modern obsession with cheap 'soul-winning' and Prosperity preaching is producing Christians who really don't care about doing the right thing. Though, in a way it's a reaction to the angry, hateful fundamentalism that passed for Christianity in generations past, that doesn't mean either of these destructive paths are right.

I am sure that all that have posted on this thread would agree that these men are men of God and preachers of God's righteousness. What is the righteousness of God? Do any of you know? When you hear a message how can you tell that they are preaching God's righteousness? What kind of righteousness did God impute to us as a gift when we were saved by grace through faith? Does grace have a place to fit in the righteousness of God? The scriptures teach that the just shall live by faith and that the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. How is a man who is a sinner cleansed from unrighteousness of sin? Does he repent to be cleansed of sin or does he receive grace and through faith he is cleansed by the blood of Christ?

Rom 3:22-25 22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

Is this the kind of righteousness that these men are preaching? Are they preaching Christ and Him crucified.

Rom 5:21 21That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

When we hear a preacher of righteousness, the sound that we should hear is grace reigning through that righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ. How does God save a sinner, by grace through faith. How does God restore a sinner, by grace through faith. How does God forgive and cleanse sin, by grace through the blood of Christ. How does God reconcile a sinner, by grace through faith and not imputing their sins and trespasses unto them. When God saves, restores and reconciles, it is all the righteousness of God doing the work and this work is right and just and these actions are possible because of grace and mercy through what Christ did on the cross.

If you all want to hear messages about repenting of sin and the judgment of God, you can do that because those preachers are out there. But as for me, my ear is trained to hear and to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, the redemption that is in Christ, when sin abounds grace does much more abound, the reconciliation of God that does not impute sin and mercy that rejoices against judgment.

After hearing the message of Peter and being cut straight to the heart, what did Peter tell the people on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) when they asked him and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

What was the first thing, the very FIRST thing he told them they must do?

When Jesus was at the house of Levi, eating with the tax collectors (Luke 5), and the Pharisees confronted Him for eating with "sinners", what was Jesus' response to them? What did he say to them? He was calling whom to what?

And when the risen Christ appeared to His disciples, and He took the broiled fish and ate it in their presence (Luke 24). At one point He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. What did He tell them would be preached IN HIS NAME to ALL nations, beginning at Jerusalem? What was it?

Train your ears to hear, yes, but hear it all.

I don't think that any believer should have a problem with repentance and they should understand that repentance saves no one, but salvation is by grace through faith in Christ does. Repentance is granted by God through grace and mercy. The old man Adam has no desire or capacity to repent of anything. The old man is totally depraved and dead. It is only when the light of the gospel shines unto the sinner that he can have a capacity to see and respond to the truth and you don't create that capacity by telling people to repent all the time. You create that capacity through giving them light, love and life. When we receive these three the Holy Spirit will take care of granting repentance that we might need. Your flesh can't repent of anything because it is flesh and it is corrupt. Even if the flesh does its very best to repent with sincerity and much sorrow for sin, it has no power with God. Humility is what God honors with grace. When we receive grace then we will have the power to repent and change our mind about who God is and the direction that we were going.

People need to know why they need a Savior. They need to know that hell is a terrible place of torment forever! This is true love, to tell them WHY they need a Savior and to direct them towards Him! Jesus warned about the dangers of hell in His earthly ministry, so should we!

There is a fine line between preaching hellfire(with no compassion) and preaching it with love!

The Gospel is not a personal choice between heaven and hell that sinner makes and that all they have to do is 'accept Jesus into their heart'. That's not Gospel, might as well give a bank robber the keys to the bank vault, and tell him, 'it's up to you!'

From my experience this correct, the sinner is dead until God saves him, of our own selves we can do nothing. When Jesus says 'Repent' or 'follow Me', He is the soveriegn Lord making a statement of fact, that's an order, it's not question, He does not ask a sinner whether they would or would not personally prefer or like to follow Him or Repent, it's not posed as a question, it's given as an order, it's a decree of His will.

Wake up church? Which church?

Church = assembly = local body of believers

So you want every believer all over the earth to wake up?

Wake up to what? that praying to ask Jesus into your heart isn't salvation?

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. -- this isn't asking Jesus for salvation.. praying for Him to come into your life?

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. --- this isn't asking for salvation from Jesus?

Repent at salvation-- you have everlasting, eternal life.. guaranteed.. that is the truth!

Repenting after salvation.. is not conditional on your place in heaven.. but a choice you make to love Jesus.

I dunno about this video.. has alot of random preachers.. maybe I should have watched it the whole way thru- but didn't impress me much.

We can add this knowledge to our faith / 2Pt 1:5.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jer 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Pro 23:26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Is 55:8,9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Jer 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

Ps 37:23,24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

We can only repent and forsake our ways and our thoughts after God has drawn us to Himself through lovingkindness because He loves us.

So which IS it fellas, is repentance a gift granted by the Holy Spirit or is it a command of God?
You can't have it both ways you know.

And with all this Amen-ing and agreeing going on between you all that is exactly what you're trying to do.
Stop tip toeing through the tulips.

You don't command someone to accept a gift.

Jesus said, The time has come, "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

What? Get saved first and then maybe repent if you so chose?
NO.

Repent and believe the Good News.

Repent first...then believe.

Believe how? By placing faith in Christ.

And through that faith, receive His grace.
The grace by which you are saved.

"We can only repent and forsake our ways and our thoughts after God has drawn us to Himself through lovingkindness..."

And how does He do that? How does He draw us to Himself?

Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Hear it and Repent. Hear it and believe.
Hear it and then you shall receive.

Wherever the word repent is used, you could substitute the words "change your mind".

"change your mind and believe the good news".

That's all it means, no need for anyone to get confused or argue over this very trivial subject. But, you know the bible teaches that changing your mind is actually the responsibility of the hearer. No one can change your mind aka repent for you, not even God - you're in control of your own mind and thoughts.

The christian walk is a lifetime of repentance, and I'm not talking about the abused useage of the term - to turn from sin, but I'm talking about the actual meaning of the term - to change your mind about God, yourself, and others, whether thats a new revelation from teaching in scripture or your pastor, or a new way of looking at things from God's point of view, or whether you go from praying from 5 minutes a day, to 20 minutes a day.
