"Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Praise him with tambourine anddance;
praise him withstrings and pipe!
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!" Psalm 150; 3-6

This tells me that music that is directed towards God is always acceptable. We are instructed to praise God on instruments and with voice. That is never wrong.

However, I agree that music is powerful. Lyrics can lead people astray, whether rap, rock, country, jazz or classical. I chose to only listen to Christian music, since I got saved in 1980. I listen to music that is uplifting and praises God. I have never regretted that choice. I also play music, and I do play instrumental music (classical) to improve so when I play in church I am a competent musician. I do feel comfortable about practicing, because my goal is to glorify God, not myself.
