Oh it does answer. Frankly, you are not saved if you think water saved you.

To say that the shed blood of Jesus is a generality is beyond belief and indicative of a person who both lacks respect and any sort of actual knowledge of salvation.

If you actually believe water has saved you, as you seem to indicate, you are not saved.

“For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.” (Leviticus 17:11)

“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. “ (Romans 5:9)

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7)

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13)

“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. “ (Romans 5:9)

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (I John 1:7)

“…and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings[ and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5)

From the old to the new testament, the answer to salvation is found only in blood.

You have obviously not yet understood that you have no forgiveness of sin unless you accept God's solution to your sin problem and that, is the blood of Christ shed on your behalf.

Now if you continue to say you are saved by water, you are deliberately and willfully CHOOSING to deny what scripture plainly and mercifully teaches us. That would indicate that somewhere along the line you may have been been exposed to the truth, refused it and your heart has been hardened.

I do not particularly care if you so choose, but the thing that is evil that you and others do regarding the blood of Christ, ignoring scripture and in your pride substituting your own works as salvation, is leading new Christians into a cult that does not save and never will.

I do not consider water baptism a work, but rather obedience to what scripture indicates we should do....Jesus Himself was baptized in water. However, you insult the finished work of Christ on the cross...He said 'IT IS FINISHED'....with your lies concerning water regeneration. This, is not found in scripture.

I have no expectations that you will admit your error and concede to the false belief that water saves anyone. As you and others seem to be so fond of saying, 'your argument is not with me; it is with God.'

Hi Niki7,

I read through your thoughts on baptism and I saw that you do believe a person should be baptized after he is saved. Could you please give me the scriptures that give a purpose for being baptized once a person is saved? I would really appreciate it.

God bless you,
Wayne

Acts 10:43~ All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name. :)

I command those words to fall to the ground.

I pray that many will receive the exhortation to be baptized in Jesus' Name as the result of this thread.
We have been water baptized. If you are preaching Jesus only, you are prob Oneness Pentecostal or some variant thereof.

Again, you have no authority to make words become of no effect. Perhaps they were said by someone who actually does have that authority?

Thank you Niki7, This scripture does tell us that we should receive baptism, but it does not give a reason. Aren't there any other scriptures on baptism that give a reason or purpose for being baptized?

Thank you,
Wayne

The Children of Israel were saved out of Egypt before they crossed the Red Sea. Not understanding the WHOLE of Scripture ,ya know, grabbing a verse here and there to make your point is what cults are made of. You quoted 1 peter 3 :21 highlighting the part you accept as support for your view while ignoring the part that says it was figurative . The whole of Scripture works together. There are many who place their salvation in water when Salvation is of the blood .

Mat_26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Rom_5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Framing a Bible question, to force there is not a direct positive scripture verse , shows only ones lack of over all understanding of Scripture. A strong example is can you show me a verse that says Jesus loves me or Jesus loves you.

Hi Beckie,

Thank you for your thoughts. You know, this Christian Chat is full of people who are sincerely interested in doing Christ's will.

In your research on baptism, what reasons have you found that the Bible gives for a reason to be baptized. Could you also give the scripture or scriptures concerning this, also.

God bless you,
Wayne

I think Jerome is more credible than you.
I think the Church Father's are also more credible than you, just on this matter here, because I don't know your complete Theology.
But, the history is factual.
I trust the Discernment within my heart from the Holy Spirit concerning it.

With that said, I have always offered Water Baptism and never denied it.
The bible is the most credible source.

It is only the blood that washes away our sins. When Jesus was baptized by his cousin John The Baptist it was immersion because it represents going under the water the death and burial, and coming out of tforhe water the resurrection. Baptism does not save remember the 1 thief on the cross who repented who believed Jesus is the son of God was told by Jesus today thou shall be with me in paradise.
The command to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus for the remission of sin was instituted for those living in the NT.

Are you Oneness Pentecostal? This is not a teaching platform although some people try to make it one. This forum is for discussion.

Thank you for your thoughts?

The command to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus for the remission of sin was instituted for those living in the NT.
Awww. Your favorite topic. What do you have against the blood of Christ? You Oneness Pentecostals just really do not seem to like to review scritpures such as these:

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings[ and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5)

From the old to the new testament, the answer to salvation is found only in blood.

Do the unsaved receive the Holy Ghost?
You are side stepping the question.
I will repeat the question:
What is the purpose of water baptism if not to be the point in time for the remission of sins?
Can you explain why we should not accept water baptism as the moment in time of the remission of sins?

There must be a moment when we are in a state of unforgiveness and cross over into the state of forgiveness.
When is that moment? Use scripture please.

BTW, the Holy Sprit can fall down on ANYONE regardless of their state of salvation. It is not a proof of salvation.

At what moment in time are we washed in His blood?
If you can not answer these questions with scripture, suspect your thinking is flawed.

many in the book of acts were not even baptized yet when the Holy Spirit came on them then. After that, they were baptized. Even Paul
had hands laid on him by a disciple who received the Holy Spirit and then was water baptized. Cornelius' house also recieved the Holy Spirit as Peter was still preaching. Water baptism in the name of Jesus was not done. I guess you think the Holy Spirit comes into those who are not saved?
I agree water baptism is to be administered in the name of Jesus. But, receiving the Holy Spirit does not automatically occur at that point as revealed in scripture. Receiving the Holy Spirit is not dependent upon having first had sin remitted through obedience to the command to be water baptized. By design, according to scripture, the experiences deal with different aspects of the NT rebirth.

Man is a three part being. Paul prayed that man's spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless. (1 Thess. 5:23) It is easy to see the parallel of the commands given at Pentecost associating with each aspect of man's makeup individually. (Acts 2:2-39)

The bible is the most credible source.
Not the Septuagint, that is a Translation of one Language to Another and Another to make it Latin and then Another to make it English. That is Your modern day, any Version, but Two, typical Old Testament.

The New Testament, well, we do have a very reliable 3rd Century Source.

Sadly, there is Not One Single Bible, that has the best Version of the Old Testament and New Testament together.

So, I lean heavily on the Holy Spirit for guidance, and many times, the Holy Spirit, leads me to the Hebrew Torah/Tanakh and the Church Fathers.

So, I am well Versed here, Biblically Speaking, from Genesis 1:1 to The End, in Revelation, and through the Apostle John's old Age as Bishop over the 7 Churches in Revelation, to his own Disciples like Papias, Polycarp, Ignatius, Ireneaus, into after John's death, and from the establishment of the Church, created in the Book of Acts, was alive and flourishing and the Gifts continued as we read 1st Century, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and record keeping even continued well well past the Church Father's.
