John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance, and Jesus himself baptised? Does that mean that Jesus baptized to show that He repent from His sin? Matthew 3:11, 11 “I baptize you with water to show that you have changed your hearts and lives. Matthew 3; 11, 16 So Jesus was baptized. As soon as he came up out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw God’s Spirit coming down on him like a dove. 17 A voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the one I love. I am very pleased with him.”

It indicated that we have to baptise in water and in Holy Spirit, Jesus Himself receive the Holy Spirit to do the work He came to do.
Did we receive the Holy Spirit? the bible say that those people who receive the world of God Just like you and me and those who believe Just like you and me today, baptised in the name of Jesus in water Just like you and today and the Bible say that THEY DID NOT RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT just ……..like

what are you enga? a cult? a whole group of groupies ? what .? your thoughts are so totally wrong and contrary to scripture about the set apart spirit of yahweh, the ruach hakodesh, yahweh's holy spirit....

even more so in view of all the scripture that shows we must depend on yahweh's revelation and power and life --- which ADMITTEDLY YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE EVER IN YOUR LIFE SEEN.

BUT THAT means not at all that yahweh and yahshua are at work always in the ekklesia by the spirit.

whatever has hurt you,
whatever has tricked (not taught, but taught wrong) you,
whatever has deceived you,
may have
done so all of your life until now, and for yet another several years until you get free, if ever you get free,

YAHWEH WILLING IN YAHSHUA(Yahweh's Salvation)....

note simply that without God's active willing purposeful work in your life, you cannot accomplish anything,

and He has generously and without measure provided his spirit to those who are born again, born from above, born of him, of his will (not the will of flesh, nor of man, nor of the world) but OF YAHWEH --- HIS CHILDREN.... and only his....

Sounds like you may be a little confused with this. Also sounds like English maybe your second language?

Anyway..

There are different types of baptism:

* Water baptism by full immersion for someone who is already converted
* Holy Spirit baptising a whole group of people- establishing one of His churches

Water baptism- after being saved, someone is immersed under water as a symbol of their new life in Jesus Christ (dieing to the past, emerging anew) .. a picture of salvation.. but doesn't give salvation.

Holy Spirit baptism-- the Holy Spirit comes 'in the midst' of a group of believers who have the authority to be one of Jesus' churches. In Acts this happened at Pentecost.. although the church at Jerusalem was a church before the Holy Spirit 'baptised' them. See Matthew 18, Acts 2

There are also other times in Acts where whole groups are 'baptised'. This isn't water baptism.. it's the Holy Spirit empowering His first churches.

A group that 'has not received the Holy Spirit' in Acts-- this has nothing to do with whether they are individually saved individuals.. this is to do with:

Whether the group as a whole have been given the Holy Spirit to be one of Jesus' churches

Receiving the Holy Spirit at conversion-- for the individual.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit- for a group.. a church to be one of Jesus' churches

Baptism by immersion-- after salvation, symbol of salvation.. but doesn't give salvation.

Hope this is clear.. their may be a language barrier here.

Not everyone receives the Holy Spirit at the time of water baptism, some receive the Holy Spirit before they are water baptized and some after they have already been water baptized. The scripture shows many examples of this.

God works in water baptism, it works together with the faith that God has given to His elect, and not apart from that. The order of events: faith in Christ, baptisms of water and Spirit, matters less. But all these three you need and all these three God bestows on us. I hope Enga that you will find sound fellowship in a traditional, conservative protestant church there in PNG. Tc always.

Matthew 5:43-48
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[k] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly. 45 If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven. He lets the sun rise for all people, whether they are good or bad. He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong. 46 If you love only those who love you, why should you get a reward for that? Even the tax collectors do that. 47 And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than anyone else. Even the people who don’t know God are nice to their friends. 48 What I am saying is that you must be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
 If you cannot Love others then who you, God are treated both bad and God people in a same way but He will Judge every one later. Who are you to Judge people?
Leviticus 19:16
You must not go around spreading false stories against other people. Don’t do anything that would put your neighbor’s life in danger.

 You are saying bad things to others then who are, Are you God. How do you know that someone is practising cult?
 If are saying bad things or stories to others then you are taking the place of your father Satan Lucifer.

Isaiah 3:5
The people will turn against each other. Young people will not respect those who are older. The common people will not respect important leaders.”

 You are doing the same thing my friend. And you are fulfilling Isaiah 3:5

Isaiah 1:17
Learn to do good. Treat people fairly. Punish those who hurt others. Speak up for the widows and orphans. Argue their cases for them in court.

 The bible says that treat people fairly and if you cannot respect other people ideas then who are you. You are not treating other people’s ideas fairly; you are more like Satan who do not want to help others?
 You are not different from your friend Satan Lucifer.

Matthew 7:2
If you judge others, you will be judged the same way you judge them. God will treat you the same way you treat others.

You are not God to Judge me my friend, Satan Lucifer judge people in the eyes of God and he was thrown down, and now you are judging me. You are portraying you father Lucifer’s image my friend. And you will be thrown down to hell with the one who is telling you to call me Cult.
You do not have the right to Judge me and my ideas.

Do you know the Fruit of the Spirit; you do not possess any of them.
You are possessing things that are opposite of the fruit of the Spirit

Dear friend, seem like you are possessing this things, see below
Galatian 5:19-2119 The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: committing sexual sin, being morally bad, doing all kinds of shameful things, 20 worshiping false gods, taking part in witchcraft, hating people, causing trouble, being jealous, angry or selfish, causing people to argue and divide into separate groups, 21 being filled with envy, getting drunk, having wild parties, and doing other things like this. I warn you now as I warned you before: The people who do these things will not have a part in God’s kingdom.

You reflect the perfect image of Satan Lucifer.

Please pray that you will not do that.
Pray that you will not Judge others
Pray that you will respect others
Pray that you will be fare to others
Pray that you will not be sued by Devil satan
Pray that, be a nice Christian
Pray to be good all the time

I forgive you and God also forgive you but you have to pray and help you self. I will also help you in pray.
Remember: we are not fighting against ourselves but we are fighting against the Satan Lucifer and therefore, you must pray and I will also help you in pray.

That is correct, what makes them to receive holy Sprit is when peter laid his hands on them and prayed to God for them ot receive the Holy Spirit, they did not receive when they believe in the first place..

Many people think that they Holy Spirit came down in the midst but they are just pretending and "thinking" . Actually they have not reeceived it. The bible confirm that they have not receive.
Today we are pretending because we did not understand history and read bible well.

Heres a few baptism pictures, the people, the Pharisees and lawyers (which rejected the same) and Jesus, who John actually forbad which makes sense that he would since John would go before the Lord preparing the way (even of righteousness) before him.

Luke 7:29 And
all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God,
being baptized with the baptism of John.

These rejecting the counsel of God against themselves

Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God
against themselves, being not baptized of him.

And we see even Jesus doing the same

Mat 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John,
to be baptized of him.

Mat 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee,
and comest thou to me?

Given Jesus is the Lamb that taketh away the sin of the world, John forbad Jesus

Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now:
for
thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.
Then he suffered him.

The baptism also seems to show a marker, as it was a sign to John as well (John 1:32-33, Isaiah 61:1 =Luke 4:18, Luke 21:22)

And Jesus said John was the Elijah for to come Mat 11:14 even as Elijah went before Elisha as well, and in the picture between those two also is of Elisha (who comes after Elijah) receiving the double portion of Spirit there as well 2 Kings 2:9 and we see Jesus likewise come out to John where the Spirit there descends and remains on him who had actually been conceived of the Spirit. To me they all tie in other things. If they can be helpful great if not feel free to just pass them by.

The Bible tells us that Jesus was baptised at 30 years old in a river.
Was Jesus just following a custom?
Is it still relevant today?
Why do different church's do it differently?

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (John 3:5)
In a situation where someone is unable to get baptised, (when its physically impossible like the thief of the cross), i believe the baptism of Jesus is substituted in the place of that person.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am ...

Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
In the Christian faith up to 15 different approaches are used to baptise.
Baptism means "to immerse" or "to submerge" (baptizo).
Mar 1:9 .....and was baptized of John in Jordan. Mar 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
Act 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Act 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught .....

Jesus wasn't baptised as a baby, why?
He choose 30 because He could make decisions for himself (Babies can't), We should be fully persuaded in our own minds, not forced or tricked into it.

What's the spiritual lesson?
Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Water washes things and baptisim is symbolic of washing us from sin. A new start where Jesus is your leader.
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

1. Death to self -- 2. Burial of old self -- 3. Raised in Christ.

Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

oh get outta here......

If you can't understand then I suggest you study a little more.
Why would Jesus need to do anything?
He is God. Does God sin? No.

Why was Jesus even brought upon this earth?
To show us that He is a living example of the way and the truth of life.
His testimony is what lives on today, which is why the Son of the living God was given to all humanity.
His baptism was the perfect image of how we should be obedient, and how we profess our love to the Lord.

Jesus was baptised 'in order to fulfil all righteousness'. In other words because it was the right thing to do. John's baptism pointed to the coming of the Holy Spirit, and those who were baptised by him were indicating their desire to take part in the coming work of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus then received immediately.

As the One Who had come to represent Israel His repentance was on behalf of Israel, not of Himself..

Oh joy another water baptism thread.

Believers are baptized in the Holy Spirit the moment they believe and are saved. They are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 2

Jesus did not need to be saved. Jesus was the Savior. Jesus water baptism was symbolic and to fulfill all righteousness. The Spirit descending upon Jesus was also was symbolic as the Father, Son and Spirit are always One and united.

4 Baptisms for believers
1) Water Baptism
This is where the Minister is the Agent administering it and the Water is the
Element (Acts.2:38)
2) Baptism with the Holy Spirit
This is where Christ is the Agent administering it and the Holy Ghost becomes the
Element
3) Baptism into Christ
Here is the Holy Spirit the Agent and Christ becomes the Element (Rom.6:3)

4) Baptism into the Body of Christ
This is where the Holy Spirit is the Agent administering it and the Church becomes
The Element

Churches tend to forget that baptism is not just involving WATER, or christenings, or 'dunking' or sprinkling from a designated water bowl that stands to the side of an altar. IT goes back to their denominational founding fathers. Mainline denominations observe JUST the water part, but usually do not continue into the "baptism of the Holy Spirit". Pentacostal and Evangelicals tend to go beyond the actual water baptism. They emphasis and invite the Holy Spirit to be part of the agenda, calling it the 'baptism of the Holy Spirit". IT is nothing to be scared about, it is nothing to be ashamed of...it is totally a part of the original 'church' in the 1st century that all the Apostles helped form. Too much 'history' from then to NOW has changed and reconstructed the ideology away from being filled and/or baptised in the Holy Spirit. It will, sadly, remain that way until Christ returns. This forum will always be full of those who debate that the baptism of the Holy spirit is not actually real or was only for THEN.
