1Co 11:1
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

1Co 11:2
Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you.

1Co 11:3
But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.

1Co 11:4
Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head,

1Co 11:5
but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven.

1Co 11:6
For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head.

1Co 11:7
For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.

1Co 11:8
For man was not made from woman, but woman from man.

1Co 11:9
Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.

1Co 11:10
That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

1Co 11:11
Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman;

1Co 11:12
for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God.

1Co 11:13
Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a wife to pray to God with her head uncovered?

1Co 11:14
Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him,

1Co 11:15
but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

1Co 11:16
If anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such practice, nor do the churches of God. - ESV

Are we holding to the traditions the apostle Paul delivered to the church in Corinth?
1Ti 2:8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;
1Ti 2:9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,
1Ti 2:10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
1Ti 2:11 Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
1Ti 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
1Ti 2:13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve;
1Ti 2:14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
1Ti 2:15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control. - ESV

Again, do we lift up holy hands in prayer to God? Do we respect the principle of authority from God?

Personally, I adore the Apostle Paul and his teachings. However, over the years I have encountered people who have interpreted the teachings of the Apostle Paul in such a way that their interpretations contradict what Jesus himself taught as well as the other Apostles whose letters appear in the bible. If Paul was both inhabited and inspired by the same Spirit of God that dwells in Christ and the other Apostles then wouldn't Paul's teachings agree with Christ and the other Apostles instead of contradict them? The answer is a resounding yes, not only should Paul's teaching agree, in actuality, they do agree thus it is the contradictory interpretations that are wrong. If anyone believes that Paul said something which contradicts the teachings of another New Testament figure, especially Jesus, then they need to research and rethink what they believe there is a very high probability that their interpretation is wrong.

Paul was a Chauvinist who seemed to contol issues against against women. Notice he said I do not permit a woman to speak in church. That was his personal opinion. He taught that a woman is inferior to a man. I serve a God that doesnt create anything inferior

I always ask female street preachers who come to my college, "where's ur head scarf" and they always look at me funny like they've never heard these passages out of the bible. I'm curious, how would a christian defend women from these passages?

God is too Almighty, if He didn't see it fit for Paul's
teachings to be in there, He would have taken
them out.

Easy...by pointing out the fact that every one of these scriptures are used out of context

I like the ESV. Thank you for the quotes. Paul teaches that women should have long hair. He is definitly talking about hair being the woman's covering. I know some who teach a "second covering" which usually is a piece of cloth or hood that the women wear to pray. I do not believe that women need a second covering; they only need their hair. Men's hair should be short. Paul gives Biblical reasons for his statements not just his opinion. Many people keep these verses and practice these teachings. I went to a Pentecostal Holiness Bible college and I know there are hundreds of women with long hair who believe it must be long. Many Oneness Pentecostals keep these verses. There are thousands of women who keep their hair long. Most of them are Pentecostal. I have never found a non Pentecostal group who taught these verses and kept them. I cut my hair, which was down past my shoulders because of these verses so I tell the women it's not only women who must keep these verses. I liked my long hair but I had to give it up. So it is not a verse against women; it applies to men and women because some men like their hair long like I used to like it. Both men and women are affected by these verses.

dude, it's not that he teaches that women
are inferior to men, rather sowing order
between man and women..

Solomon: it is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop,
than with a brawling woman in a wide house. ....lol

Paul understood doctrines based on creation. Paul was divinly inspired to write and was given permission in one passage to give his apostalic judgement. Paul did not put women in bondage; he said women were created for men. Women were created for this and are completely capable of being submissive. They are an adaquite help. Do not blaspheme the apostles and their doctrine. Dude verses Paul the apostle, who do you think would win the arguement? I vote Paul would win.

Apparently you are not familiar with the Jewish customs at the time Paul wrote his letters. Women were not allowed to speak in synogogues at all long before Paul came along.
