Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

What does this mean to you?

Our weapons isn't with bullets and clubs but with God's Word in Truth wielded through the Holy Spirit and the Gospel and prayer and faith and the Blood of Jesus because we are not fighting people per se, but satan and his lying cohorts.

No doubt about it, this is the Bible. It means that we cannot fight in the flesh. Battles are fought and won on our knees, with the power of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.

But I do find this one verse is overused to the detriment of the rest of Ephesians. I love Ephesians and currently in a Bible study. So why can't we discuss other verses in Ephesians? Like:

[SUP]15 [/SUP]For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, [SUP]16 [/SUP]I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, [SUP]17 [/SUP]that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, [SUP]18 [/SUP]having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, [SUP]19 [/SUP]and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might [SUP]20 [/SUP]that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, [SUP]21 [/SUP]far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. [SUP]22 [/SUP]And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, [SUP]23 [/SUP]which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Eph. 1:15-23

Ok, I admit that was a lot more than one verse. But Ephesians is famous in the Greek for its huge run on sentences. And this is one of my favorite songs that God used to inspire me to dig deeper into the Word of God.

Speaking of Ephesians...

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
(Eph 6:10-18)

Can someone name a power or principality that rules over us?

the only power that rules over the lives of believers should be that of Jesus Christ....

Money no longer serves a purpose. Why do we continue to allow ourselves to be ruled by it?

I see this as a calling to stand in his righteouseness only for it has been revealed to me that I have no righteousness of my own before salvation and or after and never will have any of my own.
Then that is when God revealed to me that even though the above is true I do ahve righteousness and it is his and just to stand in that alone trusting Father to work all towards Father's good as Christ already has done

Where do you get money out of my quote? But yes money is nothing because God already promised to supply all the believers needs and God goes further that that and rains his rain on all.
This is to bring one to salvation but yet man truly can't serve money and God for he will love one more than the other, he can see he loves one or the otehr but never love both. When confronted as the rich man was in Matthew he could not give up his riches for he loved them more than salvation and walked away very sad. And this was before the New Covenant wasa put in place, before the death at the cross, under law and was showing everyone that noone can make it to heaven under law. For he said to the disciples after they asked well Lord how is it possible that anyone can enter Heaven? Jesus said with man it is impossible but with God all things are possible
Therefore he was talking about Him going to the cross where we are freed in the Love and Mercy of God to Love others as he loved us here on the earth as he showed us we ar eno differant than anyone else if we only love those that love us for all the earth does this blessings and cursing out of the same mouth this ought to not be. And one cannot see these truths without the cross and move into the new life without the resurrection and all this done through belief and not of any self works

Ephesians 6:12 is one of my favourite scriptures! :)

Our flesh-and-blood enemies are inexhaustible and fighting against flesh-and-blood with carnal weapons (guns bombs tanks etc.) isn't how we are to win the one victory that really matters.

I bring money up because my thread is about powers and principalities ruling over us. But you are correct, one cannot see this if he does not carry his own cross that is, to crucify his flesh.

Yes if one still does not believe that by and through the cross that they are dead to Flesh (sin) here and now through the belief of God and what he did for us all that first we are forgiven 100% of the time this is what the death did free us from sin it is done taken away in Father's sight not this worlds sight. Then we can be set free in the Spirit of God on high no longer belonging to this world only in it, serving God in Spirit, the new raised born again believer in him through the resurrection of Christ, being crucified but never the less live in the newness of life

But if we are unfaithful in the things we see, how then can we be faithful in what we cannot? We can SEE that there are 6 homes empty for every homeless person. Is not our love or lack thereof demonstrated in this?

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

What does this mean to you?
Well, that word means what it says. It does not contradict the fact that the forces of "principalities...powers...rulers of the darkness of this world...spiritual wickedness in high places" are alive and well operating in and through persons of flesh and blood on this earth.

[h=3]Eph.2[/h][2] Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
[3] Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
[h=3]2Thes.2[/h][3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
[h=3]2Tim.3[/h][13] But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
[h=3]Jude.1[/h][4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

What you say is not the believers lack of or God's it is the world's lack of faithfulness to God which is the people that are of this world, that have not come to belief. The true believers are just in this world not of it. Jesus was very cllear that this is not his kingdom here on earth, as he had Peter put down the sword that cut off the ear of the person that was about to take him away and thenr Jesus restored that man's ear. Then said to Peter that his kingdom is not here if it were he would fight Angels would be here.
You see the fight is not physical, never was, it is Spiritual and by what Christ did His Father now our Father the ones that believe have won the battle through first the death, then the resurrection and that is where the power is in him and the ones that beliebve receive and use Father's power as Father directs no other way about it
About what we see is only temporary, and what we do not see is eternal
Thanks
