So I had chance today to think a lot about who God is and what he wants us to do. As I was thinking and praying about this, God spoke something to me that I thought was worth sharing. So here it is:

As we become Christians, we are saved. We all know what that means, but the idea tends to fade and we get caught up in the world again. If the question comes up if we know Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we immediately respond "Of course", and can talk all day about who He is. But, do we know what we do after salvation? If salvation is all we really need, then why are we still here? Wouldn't have God taken us already to be with Him once we get saved? Then, the question arises, what do we need to do after salvation? Most people seek this out after their salvation, and may live more on fire for God for a short period of time, but then it fades. So, what are we still doing here anyways?

As God was speaking to me today, He showed me that I am here to serve. I'm sure most of you hear it all the time. But if you take time to think about it and look at it in a new light, it can give you a new sense of purpose.

First, we are here to serve God. He's number one, He's why we are able to walk around with this purpose in life, and He is why we can breathe and know that our breath is merely a grain of salt to the eternity we are going to live in when we move on from this life on earth. We live to serve Him. We are His servants, and we need to follow His commands first and foremost.

Second, we are here to serve the WORLD. We are here to serve the drug dealers, the alcoholics, the rapists and the murders. And, just as importantly, we are here to serve the everyday man. Every man has a different personality, are we ready to get to know them for the advancement of Christ's Kingdom? We aren't here for ourselves, we already know who Christ is. If we were here for ourselves, we would be gone already. Christ would have taken us the moment we were saved, the moment we became His.

We are still here on this earth for a reason, and that is to serve. What are you doing today to serve our God? Do you have a servants heart today? Or are you going to keep living for yourself? It can be as simple as talking to somebody who seems down, or offering a part of your lunch to somebody who looks hungry. These are all examples of Christ's love. Christ came to this earth and He lived for us, but what's most important is that He died for us. He died for the people that you don't like at school, the people that just stand around and cuss at work, the people that make fun of you. He didn't only die for you, He died for THEM also. So get out there and serve, look what somebody did for you in your life to bring you to Christ. They were serving despite fear and hate that others had towards them.

Be that somebody in someone else's life.
What are YOU still doing here anyways?

Christ came and lived and died for us, so the least we can do is live for Him.

Thanks for reading this and for your time.

Blessings,

Nate

yea, Jesus came to serve, not to be seved. so we are to follow the example of our Lord.
God has reminded me of this plenty of times, not only in the mindst of trial, or pain, but its not about me , or us, but clearly about Him. As far as just being saved goes, well God is always working on us, refining us, making us more in His likness. We will be changed forever one day when we go home to be with Him. But until than, we are to just submit to His will, and obey, and yes suffering comes at times, and even trials.
I heard a Pastor say once nate that if you are still here and your saved, God has a plan. So anyways i hope this blesses you and i hope you are blessed.
in Him,

I see what you are saying but that does not sound the same as saying "God spoke to me".

Good GRIEF! when the Lord speaks he speaks & you know if you've ever heard him speak to you. WHY pick apart every single word? Or do you think that GOD is too big to speak to us? Please we need to stop being so nit picky with one another. The Lord places thoughts in our mind in prayer... that is speaking to us! I want to thank you for sharing your revelation, it is so true and relevant!

I'm a little skeptical when I hear the phrase "God spoke to me." too. It's been abused too much. I'm sure become_the_generation has good intentions though. :)

Good Post 'become the generation' I'm sure we all could do with reflecting how we serve our Lord, in our families and community, and with what we would percieve as societies outcast in our own time.

Your post certainly spoke to me today.

I would be also if it wasn't anything scriptural, but the post came from a heart for servitude. BTG was only sharing with us. imoss is correct, we nit pick sometimes when we don't need to, or do we nit pick to make us look good??

Anyhow, the post spoke to me.

Ahh I think i get you Chico, if you are referring to my post, I was more or less agreeing with, and agreeing with imoss on another post. I wasn't particular pointing the finger at anyone, sorry for the confusion and I apologize if you felt I was talking about you in person. (long day at work, well thats my excuse lol).

I was in meditation and prayer last night when God spoke to me. I found myself saying something a long the lines of "I submit my self you your perfect will. I submit myself to serve you. I'm so sory I've been running my life according to me and my plans. I submit myself to your Lordship."

So I can relate. You are right on the money BTG. Many of use aren't doing much for the lord. Well, save pointing at eachother's plank-eye.

If anyone wants to argue with me about having God speak to me, please start another thread.

Within all of this is the truth. To see that as great and perfect as God Our father, His Son Jesus christ, his Holy spirit is. All that our Lord does is serve and love us. He asks us to do this also. It is clear that the truth and love is known not through just recieving but more in the giving. By giving in his name we learn and become one with him and one in his Love and truelly come to know. God bless, pickles
