Sister Depleted has a thread discussing what it means to be dead spiritually. It would be advantageous for us to examine our beliefs on being made spiritually alive, and to determine whether or not our understanding goes along with Scripture.

What do the Scriptures say about this?

Do the Scriptures give us any descriptive language concerning persons who are made Spiritually alive (regenerated)? What are these passages?

Is there any transformation in the life of the one made Spiritually alive by God's power, a transformation causing a visible witness and testimony, or, is it something secret, showing no changes in the person at all, having no visible witness or testimony?

OK, we're already aware of the fact of being made spiritually alive as those verses declare. We are looking at what all this entails in the life of the believer.

Being spiritually alive allows one to be transformed by the renewing of the mind dia a study of the word of GOD....changed outwardly because of the change inwardly....Romans 12:1-2

Refer to point one...the ability to now know and discern the word allows for the above to take place

OK, we're already aware of the fact of being made spiritually alive as those verse declare. We are looking at what all this entails in the life of the believer.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

New birth, new man whole new walk for Christ. Everything changes and the heart now has different wants and needs.

Christians now have the mind of Christ and a call to separate from worldly things. Separate unto God and seek virtue and holiness.

Being spiritually alive allows one to apply the process of addition that Peter speaks of...adding unto faith, virtue, and unto virtue, knowledge, and unto knowledge, self control...etc....which will make one FRUITFUL and NOT barren or unproductive in the knowledge of the LORD.....

AGAIN refer to point one....being able to understand and discern the word allows this process to proceed....

The witness of His Spirit working with our new spirit as those who have passed from eternal damnation eternal life. Therefore in the end of the matter receiving the end of our faith a living hope of a new body.

Does Romans 12 teach that the renewing (renovation) of the mind is something that has already taken place? IOW, be transformed by what has taken place (the renovation of one's mind)?

But sadly, so many simply will not put away what they have been falsely taught to take advantage of this blessing.

The word transformation comes from the same word that we get metamorphosis from and seems to be an ongoing process....our outward actions change with spiritual growth and maturity based upon a study and application of the word......just like a butterfly starts out as a worm and then takes time in a cocoon to (change) into a butterfly.....

NOTE: Spirit is capitalized showing deity = Holy Spirit. Baptized by Christ with/in the Holy Spirit. A Spiritual circumcision done without hands & without water)

1 John 4:15 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
(NOTE: Greater is he = God the Holy Spirit thats IN you. Then the deceiver/satan who's in the world)

At savlation Jesus baptizes us, places his HOLY SPIRIT in us Matt 3:11, Lk 3:16, Mk 1:8. It's God's Seal, Down Payment, deposit, Guard, pledge.

ITS A GUARANTEE HE'S COMING FOR US!

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed "ye were sealed with that holy Spirit'' of promise
(NOTE: When you believed, you were "SEALED" by the HOLY SPIRIT, a promise of God)

Eph 1:14 Which is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession
(NOTE: The HOLY SPIRIT the you were SEALED with is GODS down payment on your salvation)

Eph 4:30 grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are "sealed" unto the day of redemption
(NOTE: GODS HOLY SPIRIT IS A SEAL given unto you receive your incorruptible heavenly body (1 Cor 15:42-44-53) on the day of redemption)

Tim 1:14 The Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you
(NOTE: God gives us the HOLY SPIRIT as a deposit. To guard us until the final day of redemption)

2 cor 1:22 Who hath also "sealed us" & "given the earnest" of the Holy Spirit in our hearts
(NOTE: God has SEALED us with a down payment of the HOLY SPIRIT)

AMEN...point one...no one lost can understand the word, much less apply it in the manner described by Peter........so....there seems to be evidence in one who is eager to learn, apply and grow/change......

AMEN......I can think of a few things crammed down my throat as a kid that I had to unlearn in order to learn....we must always be willing to change our mind on the fringe issues that require extra biblical scrutiny in order to learn...Paul told the Corinthian church to be enlarged<---I.E> open to learning and instruction

Yes. This is one reason why Scripture rejects the teaching that a true convert can go sans evidence of conversion. Belief in and preaching of a non-transformational gospel results in non transformed lives, as expected. 1 John is one mighty book that preaches the necessity of evident conversion.
