If you can't get baptized in this life, God can take care of it post-mortem.

that means you would have to do a work to receive something. Jesus didn't leave us to finish His work of salvation. besides, everyone can't get baptized!
God instituted the command for the purpose stated in His word.

John 6:44 says the Father draws someone to Jesus (“…No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:”) Most of us don’t know exactly how it all works, it just does. 😎
Absolutely, and it's NOTHING we do, there's nothing we can do, it's ALL Him. Not "being good enough", following the right rules, repeating the right prayer, getting dunked in water, being sprinkled the correct way with water, not the family you are born to, NOTHING we do and it's all Him. ALL the glory goes to Him and we have NOTHING to boast about.

I know this doesn't make sense to the unregenerate mind, it can't make sense to them. We cannot truly understand the things of the spirit before He does draw us in and grant us repentance, opening our eyes to the truth of our hopeless condition outside of Him. This is when Jesus blood and sacrifice is applied to us and our dead spirit is resurrected and then reconnected to His Spirit. This is being born again, this is what takes place at that moment and when we are saved. This is a miracle that opens our eyes to the TRUTH and how we KNOW God is real and Jesus is His Son. This is also why I tend to believe those that seem to have a complete misunderstanding of how these things work can make the kinds of mistakes like this, like you have to be baptized to be saved, or even "after we are saved we can lose that salvation if we don't obey enough". When we are in truth we understand that being submerged in the water had NOTHING AT ALL to do with what God did when He saved me, I was baptized afterwards to declare this as His word and Spirit guides us to do. I also understand that I don't now have this heavy burden dropped on me to obey good enough or I violate my holy probation and God will cast me out. I KNOW what Jesus did for me to be saved, I KNOW what God did for me to be saved, I will now, by His grace and power, now live my life to please Him in any and every way I can because of the inexhaustible gratitude and love I have for a God as great as ours, for a person as wicked and undeserving as me. I could never walk away from a God as glorious and all powerful as Jesus. He is the only reason I can be this way at all. ALL glory goes to Him NOT ME. Not for choosing Him, nor saying the right prayer, going to church every week, reading my bible enough, not for being baptized, or baptized by the "correct" church, I did NOTHING and He did it ALL.

When you know the Spirit these kind of major mistakes in the truth melt away with His Spirit leading us. Which He also gets the glory for. Praise Jesus.

The God ordained purpose of water baptism is for remission of sin. It is an essential element of the NT rebirth:

"And thou, child, (John the Baptist) shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

The thief next to Jesus on the cross went to heaven and was never water baptized.
The thief died prior to the ushering in of the NT. It is an essential element of the rebirth applicable to all those living after Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. Water baptism in the name of Jesus for remission of sin was begun in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:36-39) Jesus prophesied concerning this in Luke 24:47.

Jesus actually spoke about baptism 10 days earlier, just before He ascended to His throne to sit at the right hand of the Father. Since He was leaving, He was sending the third person, the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:5
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

"Not many days hence" was the day of Pentecost. He said "baptized with water?"...No, He plainly said "baptized with the Holy Ghost."
When those unbelievers in Acts 2 decided to have their sins forgiven by believing in Christ, they were baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Didn't John baptize before Jesus went to the cross?

Baptism in the name of Jesus is water baptism. (Acts 10:43, 47-48) Both obedience to water baptism in the name of Jesus for remission of sin and receiving the Holy Ghost are necessary. Both experiences are documented in all detailed conversion accounts. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 9:17-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-7, 22:16)

Sorry, I thought my answer was obvious. I agree with scripture and it reveals the answer is yes.

Yes, John introduced water baptism for remission of sin prior to the cross. However, The NT rebirth was not available until after Jesus was glorified and poured out the Holy Ghost at Pentecost. At that time everyone was required to repent and be baptized in water invoking the name of Jesus in association with His sacrifice.

No discernment? Because I said there’s some biblical scholars? Okay…
No. It was because of this statement ..."which is certainly more interesting than some average Christian guy with a basic Holy Spirit experience."

My sure that relates to discernment, other than sharing something about the Holy Spirit on this forum. But you’re right, not very juicy, or intellectually stimulating. Oh well, I need to be a little wiser in the audience.

that doesn't make sense at all. past, present & future, everyone can't get baptized because of various reasons: too old, no one to take them to the baptismal, invalidity in some other way. it is not scriptural that you have to get baptized for sins to be forgiven. i hope you discover this truth.

7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Was spoken by Jesus to Nicodemus before the crucifixion.
Jesus spoke of many things that became a reality after He ascended back into Heaven. Jesus prophesied about the NT rebirth that would soon become possible for NT believers, "Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins (water baptism) should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:47) Details concerning the NT rebirth were presented in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:36-42)

Man is without excuse, as the recorded experiences of the birth of the NT church in Acts, and Paul's epistles provide the pattern all must follow. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 9:17-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-6, 22:16, Rom 6:3-5, 1 Cor 1:15-16, 1 Cor 12:13, Gal 3:27, Eph 4:4-5, Col 2:12, Titus 3:5-6, Heb 4:1-2)

Over 20+ years after Peter gave the initial message of the need to be baptized, Paul gave the same instruction. (Acts 19:1-6. Paul’s 3rd missionary campaign)

Acts 22:16 A reference to Paul being told to be baptized to wash away his sins.

Acts 8:35-40 Eunuch baptized.

Acts 16:28-33 Jailer/family baptized.

Acts 16:14-15 Lydia/family baptized.

Acts 18:8 Paul baptized Crispus, the leader of the synagogue. Others baptized members of Crispus’s household and other Corinthian believers.

Paul baptized Gaius as referenced in Acts 19:29.
