There seems to be some folks that are offended by nothing. Saddens me to think liberals frequent this joint, but I guess it happens.
You do realize that intent is what makes a word a cuss word. Some folks , like yet or the preacher at my church, don't seem to understand that.
Preacher was reading a passage and substituted donkey for ass. Tell me, was he wrong?

Fart is a dirty word. A person really should say the word fart or farting. If you use the the words fart or farting frequently Jesus doesn't love you. I wonder if Jesus ever farted and then blamed Peter for it.

How many times was the f word used in Scripture?
I counted forty times! Will he call God potty mouthed? I wonder...

Shame based "righteousness" creates a puss filled infection that kills a persons soul.

I might be from a different generation but I'm not afraid of dirty words or another persons sin. I welcome a person to show me who they really are and so does Jesus.

I see your point but it puts God in your nice little box. There is also this:

19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all peopleso that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

What is Christs law if it isn't love? What is love if it isn't accepting a person just as they are and communicating with them on their level. God did that for you. Do you think he didn't joke and have fun with His peeps on their level?

For clarification I don't cuss when I am in conversation except for the rare occasion that my emotions have gotten the best of me or something along those lines. I'm not Jesus and am unable to to it perfectly all the time.

I must work now.

And sirk turns it into a playground banter. Sad that a discussion can't retain some gravity.

Back to the op, yes the preacher was wrong. He was in church, yet he was afraid someone in the congregation, like sirk, would teehee or snicker when he preached.
There are some words that have only a vulgar intent or meaning. Those words are indeed dirty because we made them that way.
There are other words that have perfectly clean meanings that can be used in a vulgar way. Those words used as intended are perfectly okay.
Look at all the words in the bible that we can turn to curse words. I won't name them because I'd hate for sirk to start giggling again. But to change bible wording because you think certain words are dirty, is YOU making them cuss words.
To be offended by a word in the bible shows a lack of maturity. If the preacher is like that, as mine is, it shows that he hasn't taught his congregation maturity. Paul said for us all to come and grow to be perfect, or mature, adult, grown up, in the word.

Colossians 1:28 "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:"

Not only does the preacher have an obligation to preach the word, we have an obligation to receive it sober-mindedly.

I know I'm out numbered on this one 'word' that makes my skin crawl, even when I was Gehenna bound. Kind of like the 3 of us in Omaha that drive the speed limit. We are out numbered by the law breakers.

'corrupt communication' Corrupt: gr. unwholesome

I know the arguments. 'But Yet, in Watuzi Tutzi Africa that word you don't like is just fine. Yea but I don't live in Watzi Tutzi Africa.

Here's what I tell sinners when they ask 'if I get saved can I keep on sinning the way I do'?

My answer is 'if you truly get saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, and walking in holiness, and purity, ever so close to Christ, then you can go ahead and sin all you want to.....but you won't want to'!

I say if you can be filled with the Spirit, walking in holiness and purity, ever so close to Christ, and you can still use the ugly word in question.....go for it.
Again, I hope that heaven isn't one big f--t joke fest! I know, I know I'm weird!

Actually I've said to much. A futility exercise, don't you know. For if you do not know what a disgusting word is, there is no way I can tell you. Not in a million years. All I ask is don't use it around me.

Again, try using that word when you pray. Interject it somewhere. Even in a group prayer. If you don't feel a little uncomfortable using it when speaking to the Most Holy Lord God Almighty and with other saints, then go for it. Indulge! All power to you.

Like I said, I'm out numbered all the time, even on this site. I'm use to it.

I guess I just don't fancy the holy huddle up. Reminds me of old men sitting in the coffee shop talking about the weather and someone else's issues.
