Christianity is a following. Its members follow Christ.

Sadly there are many different types of groups that call themselves christian/ But are christian in name only. They do not actually follow Christ.

The root of Christianity is Christ who is the head.

The basis f enter ace into true christianity is the death burial and resurrection of the anointed on (messiah/christos) himself for the sins of the people

The book which its members follow is the holy rod of God or the Logos, as inspired by the Holy Spirit

Its goal is to enter satans domain (the gates of hell) and help rescue other lost people in the world. And to train up its people so they can be lights in the world, and through this light which shines through them, attract people to them.

Then is Christianity a new religion with a new God? Was it a different God who wrote the old testament?

I thought the rules between the old and new covenant were the same as it tells us in Jeremiah. It says the law was now given in our hearts, but I have not read the "rules" were different, only the method of delivery was different.

Christ said we have been told, and Christ said he did not change what we have been told. Then Christ told us the difference between being told in stone by rules and being told the same thing to our hearts and minds. I didn't think scripture tells us of a new God and a new religion. Scripture says Christ completed it, he fulfilled what was of the old, and what is new is a change from the fleshly stone delivery to the delivery to the heart of the same rules. Scripture says God is eternal, meaning it is the same God from Genesis to Revelation, not a new God.

Scripture says the new covenant was to improve the old covenant, I haven't read that God was all wrong and completely mistaken when he gave the old one. The old one became obsolete, old, and went away because the new one was so much better.
The old was accomplished through rules and regulations, No one in the old could approach the presence of God except once a year. And if he did not do everything right, he was stuck dead the instant he entered the holy place And sacrifice was the means of redemption (in symbolic form only)

The new is nothing like the old. . The old was given to point us to christ. The law and the prophets all point to the holy one of Israel who will come and restore his people. The new is about serving others. Becoming Christlike. And going to rescue the world The mission given by Christ himself. To go and make new disciples.

What is discipleship ? A disciple is a whole-hearted follower of Jesus Christ. What is Christianity? today it is pretty much described as Churchianity. To know Jesus, to love Jesus , to whole heartedly follow Jesus. That is what it should be maybe for the first church that is what it was . There have always been pockets of disciples scattered around the world. Some , 30 some 60. Some a hundred fold . What is Christianity ? It is not discipleship.

1- The Christian Bible is not a religion.
2- Come as you are, all are equally welcome.
3- Your dues have already been paid.
4- Peace beyond understanding is your reward.

So...., WHAT IS IT?
That's easy, its Sinful men, being freed from the bondage of sin, by trusting in Jesus/God and THUS CHOOSING God's ways over Satan's ways. It's true our DNA retains the Sin Nature on this earth via the Flesh, but our Spirit Man takes on Christ Jesus, thus he Holy Spirit can live in our hearts and change our desires.

God ruled the world in the old, God was not dead to those people. The sacrificial system was a prophecy of Christ, it was Christ, it was what Christ fulfilled. Christ did not come alive only in the new testament, Christ was alive from the beginning.

A misinterpretation of law divides people, even today. When we love God we follow Him and we can't follow Him and follow sin. So God told us to repent. That is giving our will to the Lord.

Yet it is not the following of righteousness instead of sin that saves us, it is our faith. Our faith and love of God leads us to repentance. So some people say they are Christians because they know it is not the law that saves them, and they know they cannot follow law perfectly so they decide not to follow Christ by repenting of their sin. They say that being in repentance means they put themselves under law for salvation instead of grace, and of course that is not true. That is the road to hell.

I'm not who you may think
With scruples worlds apart
There's a monkey on my back
And an angel in my heart

The flesh needs to be trained
Not to brag or strut
When morals weigh me down
The Spirit lifts me up

The Devil may be crafty
But not the same as wise
He doesn't dare to look
Into my Savior's eyes

Call me a hypocrite
Say that I'm conflicted
By grace I am redeemed
And evil is evicted

I'm not who you may think
With scruples worlds apart
There's a monkey on my back
And an angel in my heart

Feel free to add to this...

Christ has been alive forever. It was he who told moses his name, I am who I am, It was he who was the God of Israel.

You should not yell at people can claim they misinterpret the law my friend.

The law can not help you as a christian. If anything, it will stunt your growth, because you wil not be doing what you NEED to do to grow in christ. You will be to busy trying not to break some commands by your own power. Instead of seeking the power of Christ not to commit all the sins that lead up to breaking one of the commands.

The only problem here is when folks want to change it back from following God's commands as He writes them upon our hearts to obeying the law [and teaching them] which He wrote upon stone.

Nor can you take Christ's commands and write them on stone and make obedience to them as necessary to salvation. His commands are simply believe and be saved. The fruit of faith is love.

Can't mix law and grace.

The devil is conceited and he thinks he's very wise
he wants me but he doesn't seem to comprehend my size
he hangs around most every day to shoot me full of sin
but he might as well be on his way, I'll never let him win.

Christianity is the religious faith and life that shows the quality or condition of being a Christian: "Christian" plus the suffix -ity. The suffix "-ity" refers to quality or condition in forming a noun. I approach this as in the OP, by definition.

"It was in Antioch that the disciples first got the name of Christians." (Acts 11:26b REB)

Jesus said "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35, KJV)

"The commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,’ and any other commandment there may be, are all summed up in the one rule, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Love cannot wrong a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law." (Rom 13:9-10, REB)

Christianity to me is the obedient faith that produces true love for God, the brethren and neighbor.

The God of the Old Testament became incarnate in the New Testament . God entered human history as Man. Same God different Covenant . In the Old Covenant He wanted a people who obeyed His Voice. In the New Covenant He wants a people who obeys His Voice. Jesus Christ , the same yesterday, today and forever. As with old so with the new .

You are indeed correct. The New Covenant/New Testament improved the Old. Jesus told us He came, not to change the laws of the Old Testament but to fulfill them and actually add to them.

There is evidence in the New Testament that Jesus did not abolish the Law of the Old Testament. In fact Jesus places great value on the commandments and that he doesn’t want to dissolve them in any way. He emphatically stated, "It is even written that someone, who dissolves the Law or teaches others not to follow it, won’t enter into the kingdom of heaven!

Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Many Christians interpret this verse in a wrong way. They think that Jesus has fulfilled the Law of the Old Testament for us, so that we don’t have to keep it anymore. But in fact, the word “fulfill” means “to add” or “to complement” in this context. Already in the next sentence he says that the Law will not perish before heaven and earth have passed away. That doesn’t mean that we shall stop keeping the Law, when Jesus is dead. He even says that people, who break the Law and don’t observe it better than the Pharisees, won’t enter the Kingdom of God at all.

Another proof that Jesus means “to add/ to complement” and not “to fulfill”, can be found here. Jesus says at this point that he gives us a NEW commandment, which clearly points out that he is complementing the already existing Law of the Bible:
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (John 13:34)

The law cannot save you, but when you say the law cannot help you it is against what scripture says. Scripture gives many positive uses we can make of the law. It can lead us to Christ, it can guide us, we can be blessed by listening to it, we can express our love for God by obedience, for just some of the uses we are to make of the law.
