1 Corinthians 3
1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
I believe that Jesus died for our sins. I believe that the act of baptism is a dual symbolism, we go down in the water to symbolize our fleshly death (our natural selves) and we rise out of the water to symbolize our new spiritual rising through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus says we should pick up our crosses daily and follow Him.
Luke 9:23
(KJV)
23And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
That we should continually deny ourselves and abide in our Heavenly Father, and keep His words abiding in us.
John 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
When Satan tried to tempt Jesus it wasn't to break any laws, it was to get him to act on His own, outside of the fathers will. Where is the sin in creating food for yourself out of stones?
Matthew 4:3-4
3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
where is the sin in casting Himself down so the angels would catch Him and then all may know He was the Son of God?
5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
The answer is that it was not the will of the Father.
For those of us who have matured in our faith, we choose to give everything up to the Lord then anything that we choose outside of the will of God, yea even harboring our own thoughts I consider sin. What we seek here isn't a bit of Christ in our lives its truly dying to ourselves continuously so that the Lord can completely implant Himself in us (all of His holy attributes). The ultimate goal is that there is none of us and all is Christ.
Matthew 16:25
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
When the Lord has fully taken His seat driving our every thought and action because we consciously are dwelling in Him and His attributes moment for moment, allowing the Holy spirit to have free reign and never questioning or withholding what That Spirit commands there are no more laws. That IS the law. For we are loving the Lord our GOD with ALL our Mind, BODY and SOUL, we are completely obedient to Him, yea even to the point of casting our eyes from any unclean thing, to not give lip service to our brethren who tell a foul joke, but allow the Lord to flood righteousness out of our every pore. At that point you will by Holy nature Love everyone as your brother and sister, for the Lords love will abound Amen and there is no more debate on whats sin and what is not for the Lord is our everything and His righteousness cannot beget unrighteousness. Its only in the moment we harbor our own feelings and thoughts that we allow that gateway for sin to enter our flawed existence, amen.
