What is it's true purpose? Not just dreams of interpretation but just dreams in general, what are your thoughts on this?

Dreams are your mind sorting through the past days observations, deciding what is relevant, and what observation goes to what part of your overall theory of life.

I think that a mind as quiet as it is in sleep can be receptive to hearing the Lord's ways.

It could also be reporting on an upset stomach.

What ever they end up being, it happens at a time your alone . I think for that reason they should remain a personal thing.

They're just dreams they don't have a meaning unless God wants them to have one. That's my opinion

God sometimes uses dreams to communicate with us and if a dream is a message from God it will be repeated.

Do you mean your dreams are not "mixed up"?
It seems to me If anyone believes that dreams are just your mind sorting filing or sorting experiences... and they are mixed up... then the mind is disordered. It seems to me if people believe that sleep is the "repair/rejuveinate" time... then saying things get mixed up in your dreams is a mistake... the mind should be RESORTING correctly... whereas things might seem "mixed up" but they aren't they were already mixed up and are being re-ordered.
THis is just my opinion on this particular belief about dreaming dreams...
I personally lean upon scripture that sleep being restorative and I have the Holy Spirit and put on the mind of Christ so I should experience no mix-ups or confusion. I do believe God speaks to us in dreams.. but they are personal... must harmonize with scripture and the holy spirit will help us if were are having trouble understanding.

Really?? All of you, really?? Do you READ the OT at all??
Job 33: [SUP]14 [/SUP]“Indeed God speaks once,
Or twice, yet no one notices it.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]“In a dream, a vision of the night,
When sound sleep falls on men,
While they slumber in their beds,
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Then He opens the ears of men,
And seals their instruction,
[SUP]17 [/SUP]That He may turn man aside from his conduct,
And [SUP][f][/SUP]keep man from pride;
[SUP]18 [/SUP]He keeps back his soul from the pit,
And his life from [SUP][g][/SUP]passing over into Sheol.

You know a couple of days ago i had a dream I was Extremely thirsty, there was a man next to this fountain and i kept drinking the water over and over but my thirst could not be quenched, i then woke up just as thirsty as i was in the dream
Consider these verses that have to do with 'thirst'

  • Matthew 5:6“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
  • John 4:13Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst ag
  • John 4:14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
    John 6:35
  • Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst
The man next to the fountain was Jesus, waiting for you to ask HIM for His Living Water; for you see that while your physical thirst cannot be quenched....He can satisfy your SPIRITUAL THIRST. The dream is given to encourage you to seek Him first.

Dreams are messages from the subconscious. The significance in these messages can range from very important, to nothing more than a creative escape for the brain.

If a dream is recurring, it's likely symbolic of something in your waking life you need to confront.

Dreams are messages from the subconscious. That is New Age BS. God created us TO DREAM for the PURPOSE of speaking to when we are in a position to LISTEN. Our soul listens to His voice and does not talk back....cuz, like...WE ARE ASLEEP.
There are three different source of dreams: From God; from the soul of the dreamer, ALLOWED BY GOD; and from the devil; also allowed by God so that WE can see what the enemy has planned for our life...then we can take action against that plan.
Dreams from the devil are in black and white...very common for non-Christians. There is no color because color represents LIFE; hence dreams from God are in color, everyday, vibrant color. Dreams from the soul are in dull color, they come from the soul, yet do have a modicom (sp) of life. God allows these types of dreams so that we can have a better understanding of ourselves.

A very grand Spirit told me:

" at times the soul transcends the flesh -"

I believe these to be dreams. Even imagination are tied in with the spiritual element - remembering things long forgotten because our physical bodies are limited.

Sometimes though, dreams can be memories or deep feelings expressed through images. Some people have dreams which tell the future, or reveal something in the past. Spirits can interact with us in our dreams -

Idk.

I guess from a spiritual sense, it's a way to remind us about the forgotten element - that we do indeed have a spirit dwelling within us because the world often makes us forget it's even there.

This had the making of being a very good post... except you had to start it off this way...

Really?? All of you, really?? Do you READ the OT at all??

You don't have to be a forum member to discover that lots of people who claim to be christian don't know the bible very well... much less the OT. Your post could have been instructive... instead it just comes off condescending, holier than thou and is especially insulting to group the diligent and informed with "ALL OF YOU". If your going to dish out correction and admonishment... you should probably be clear about who the specific person is, or group... as opposed to elevating yourself above everyone else... by use of the unneccesary and uncalled for introductory line.
