Well He made the place didn't He? The place of eternal torment and fire I mean. When a man is put on death row, the judge who put him there didn't build the electric chair did he? Or did he?
The lake of fire was created for the devil and his angels. Hell, which is actually four different words from the original languages, is to be thrown into the lake of fire also. One of the words translated as hell is only used once, in 2 Peter 2:4. Tartarus was also created for the rebellious angels.

I had a friend who went to church and hated rapists and murderers like most do.

But he said that if a murderer is unrepentant clearly and refuses to acknowledge their wrong, then we should not just put them in prison but rather torture them every day for the rest of their life. He felt that we not only should do this but that we should use medicines and stuff so that we can take the murderer to the furtherest amount of pain possible and yet keep them alive.

What are your thoughts, Good idea and why or bad idea and why?
I suppose we could do what God did - put them in solitary confinement (called earth) and wait and see if change can come about of their own free will.

We could torture them and see how that turns out.. It has been my observation that if you are mean and demeaning to a person they react in kind and usually turn out meaner and wanting revenge and hurt people more.

But then if you treat them kindly and give them a reason to change for the good like showing them love and self sacrifice letting them see how they have harmed and hurt someone and the cause and effect of the harm to the other persons life because of the consequences of their actions but that person shows them love, kindness and forgiveness. It can break their heart knowing the hurt and pain they caused and they want to change because of the love that has been shown to them in spite of the wicked way they treated the person....

So which way do you think would be better?

Kind of sounds like the plan of salvation God has offered to each of us hateful sinners... huh?

If we beat them, we join them.
