I think he had--
-- a desire to please God
-- a desire to keep a clean conscience before God, and being faithful was a part of that
--a genuine love for Christ Jesus and for God
--gratitude for his salvation
--love for his fellow man
--an internal drive to find satisfaction with what he did with his life-- kind of a self-actualization thing.

Some of these are just my theory. We can find bits and pieces of some of these in the scriptures, like his desire to keep a clean conscience.
He went from helping to murder 'his' enemy. i.e. God's enemy as he perceived Christian's before his Damascus experience.....

To 'loving his former enemy (Christians) and also loving his new 'enemy' (anti Christians). i.e. Jews & Greeks & Romans????

My guess is Paul had a great measure of aid from the Holy Spirit and he did have a 'number of years to adapt'????? He spent quite some time in Arabia and then ????

Amen, There's the answer.
John 15:2
New American Standard Bible
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
If only the church would get a hold of that!
#2 is my answer, for without Him I could do nothing.
Today people might say Paul was a glutton for punishment. And that reminds me of people that practice self flagellation. But we know that the 'pruning' Paul went through is of a Spirit derived nature. Is this what is meant here? "If only the church would get a hold of that! " Certainly not as this video indicates.>>>>
