Be educated or be stupid. Your call.

good vid. had seen it.

ya...so is it any wonder that ppl don't hear anything that is said when it's scriptural?
they never hear it.

way back in the day - i went in repentant sorrow and terror to a little tiny baptist church, there was a humble pastor there who listened to my story, preached the gospel and gave me a bible. i went away, and came back a few months later.
that pastor was gone, and strangers had come from another country (U.S.A.).
they remodeled the church (250,000 for landscaping alone), and everyone was handed the Purpose-Driven package.
the pulpit was now a stage, the charismatic leader paraded back and forth with a headset and told emotional stories.
lots of rock music and drama.

....

i returned 3 days later with the package and said "this is not from God"
i was asked to leave.

I did not see any heresies, but for me, listening to his 40 days of purpose on the website, listening to his repeated phrase "God loves you SO MUCH . . ."

I didn't read the book, but I am listening to his 40 days of purpose messages on the website. There is no heresy, but listening to this has changed my mind about everything. He kept using the phrase "God loves you SO MUCH . . . "

I realized for the first time in my life, I have been believing a lie.

God does not love me, and there is no purpose to my life.

Rev Warren did not say this, but he made me think. The things he has been saying are orthodox Christianity, of course, but I am coming to see THAT THEY ARE NOT TRUE.

If I am to keep the concept of God, I must change my belief from a personal God to an impersonal one, a force, like gravity, a principle. The evidence just does not support a personal God who loves me.

As I said in the other thread, not much of any of this means much if you cannot takes some time to explain "Why." Just saying something doesn't make it so.

"Because i said so or because they said so" is not the same as "God said". You should first be in Scripture then in the books others have written. The Bible is first and foremost the foundation of theology. What others have written are to help us understand. But at the same time their writtings should be "proofed" against the Bible. When we look at and read what others have written we should be praying first for the Holy Spirit to guide us. This should also be done before reading the Bible so that God is the "interpretor" not our own understanding or thoughts of what it "should say".

Prayer first, Bible second, prayer third, others writtings or words last. It is because "God said" not because "man said".

Oops i forgot to finish my statement;

"Prayer first, the Bible second, prayer third, mans writtings or words forth, prayer fifth and Gods Word as final say"

Sorry about that :)

Rick Warren is an heretic who teaches Law, not Gospel.

A lot of what JWs say is true, however if you take their overall teaching you can see that it going in a different direction then the gospel(just using that as an example). If you are unsure about a bible teacher try to stand back and look at the direction that it seems to be heading. Is it self improvement? How to make money? How to achieve self glory. None of those things are the gospel.
