People who try and downplay the importance of Bible, will often quote Matthew 22:29 and John 5:39-40

29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

The problem in 29 is that they didn't know the scriptures! The problem isn't with some error in the scriptures. It was with an error in the readers.

39 (AW)You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is (AX)these that testify about Me; 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Again, the problem here isn't with the scriptures. Jesus clearly says the scriptures testify about HIM! The problem is with the reader. All they needed to know about Jesus, in order to come to him, was right there in the scriptures. They failed to read all of it and come to Jesus. If one truly reads the Bible, they will come to Jesus, hence the Bible is sufficient.

Be very aware of this sly ploy to play down the importance of the Bible as the importance of puffed up self revelations is raised above God's word.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I think the importance of the Bible is vital because otherwise people will twist and use all sorts of things to justify their own sin. however a personal relationship with Jesus is also important for scriptures point to JESUS and we should honor both and worship God.

Still .. LOL.. this is the same scripture I have posted many times in Bible Study.. Matthew 22:29 Jesus answerd and said unto them. Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.... For the exact reason, of the 'off the wall' unlearned 'opinions' you hear there. Whats real sad is when one comes 'posing' as a teacher and does this. Following that mess you will have the 'groupies' come in condemning the ones honestly wanting to learn scripture, and throw in what I call a 'feathers and gold dust doctrine'. Heard a child being used to condemn another yesterday, and its become to much for me. Never came for the 'show' just to study with others that want to study the Word..

I do hope the words I typed are not recieved as 'hateful' was not the intent. I do pray that Bible study can become bible study that Ephesians 3:14-21 can grow in each heart thru relationship with the LORD, which comes by knowing Him.

the Lord bless and keep, much love

For someone to raise any spirituals above the plain written word(understood correctly)
is raising themselves above God Himself.

Matt 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Ps 138:2b I will praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy
word above all thy name.

People should realize that all this calling on the Holyspirit to come and do stuff is not our right to do.
We are instructed by the Lord to call on the Father in His name. He said about the Holyspirit:

John 16:13.....for He shall not speak of Himself.....

Yet thats not what you hear. If your hearing all this Holyspirit saying this and that ,more than
glorifying JesusChrist...its not the Holyspirit. And if its playing down scripture...the word..then
its antichrist.
