I think it is not Biblically accurate to suggest Jesus, and Paul taught different doctrines. Especially if you consider ALL of Paul's teaching, and not just the few that can be used to support Mainstream Teaching.

After all, Paul himself said:

Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

This is exactly what Jesus taught.

21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

Should we not include these words in our understanding?
To me that is a silly question. The whole Bible is the WORD OF God!!!

We don't need to invent excuses to not obey God, and twisting the Bible truth will only make us deserving of a more severe punishment.

Jesus commanded: "Sell your possessions and give alms". I had a friend some 30 years ago who did that -- he arrogantly claimed to be the only Christian in town (perhaps in the world) who really followed Jesus. A year or so later he had to be supported by his friends and ate a big humble pie.

Before the cross Jesus commanded: "Sell your possessions", but after the cross He didn't confirm the commandment (through Paul). Selling our homes and giving the money to the poor is a nice thing to do provided we are being guided by the Holy Spirit.

What Jesus preached before the cross was Law, so "Sell your possessions" was Law. Jesus' words are eternal, but after the cross they were no longer Law -- they don't have to be obeyed in a read-and-do fashion. Christians will only sell their homes if they are guided by the Holy Spirit to do so.

Jesus told the man who was healed from leper: "show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing". Does this teaching apply to Christians? This is what is being discussed here.
You obviously didn't read my post.

God never was a man a created being. God remains not a man as us. As the Son of man he resisted all forms of worship. He informs us blasphemy will be forgiven unto men to include the Son of man. But will not be forgiven in respect to that not seen the Son of God.

And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is "none good" but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.Mat 19:16
Yes, He was a man same as you and I, but according to the Bible He created all things before He became a man.

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

So it was Him who spoke to Abraham and gave Abraham His Laws. It was Him who walked with Noah. Do you deny this Biblical Truth?

Thank You, that is true. And Jesus said in both the Old and New Testaments we are to live by EVERY Word that comes from God. Not just a few scriptures that can be used to promote man made doctrines and traditions.

I'm sorry! I did read your post (#278) about Jesus in the Old Testament vs. Jesus in the New Testament. I didn't make any comment about it because my focus is on Jesus' ministry on earth vs. Jesus' teachings after the cross (through Paul).

I inadvertently skipped post #277, but now I see you gave important information about the Levites. Thanks!

Jesus commanded the young man who claimed to keep God's commandments from his youth to sell his possessions. He did this to expose that this man had deceived himself into believing a lie. The very first commandment is to place God above everything. This man's deception was exposed by Jesus. To say Jesus commanded everyone to sell their possession and give to random poor people is not true.

The same thing happened with the Leper. Jesus didn't command all of us to show ourselves to Moses because of the reason's I stated on the previous post. This was a testimony for the False Preachers of that time.

"What Jesus preached before the cross was Law, so "Sell your possessions" was Law."

Jesus, before he became a man, told Abraham to go sacrifice his son. It's right there in your Bible. But it wasn't a "law" that we all are commanded to kill our children.

I don't agree with you on this my friend :)

The purpose of this thread is to verify if the following statements are true:

--- Not everything that Jesus taught, while He was on earth, apply to Christians;

--- Everything that Jesus taught, through Paul, apply to Christians
.

There are evidences that some (or a few) of Jesus' teachings were only for the Jews. Example: Jesus told the man who was cured of leprosy to show himself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded.

If the statements on the top are proven true they will explain the differences between the Gospels and the Pauline epistles, and will remove any shadow of doubt about Paul's reliability and authority.
Until relatively recently before a cure for leprosy was found lepers were isolated from the population. To leave that isolation they had to prove that they no longer had leprosy.

See Luke 12

33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor.
In context the issue is different. The problem was the person was wealthy and his possessions meant too much to him. What this is telling us is that our possessions shouldn't take precedence over Jesus. Jesus understood this and went to the heart of this man's problem. Note the man's response about what Jesus said. It is not a command to us to sell everything. We are to be good stewards of what God blesses us with. We need to take care of our families. If I did that where would my wife and children live? As a responsible Christian I need to give "tithes and offerings" to God.

[h=3]The Rich and the Kingdom of God[/h]18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’[a]”
21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

In Luke 12:33 there is no rich man -- the commandment is for all. In Acts you see that the disciples did sell their possessions and shared the money with those in need.

See Luke 12

33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor.
Luke 13:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

I don't think you are understanding this chapter correctly. The Body has many different parts and each one has a different gift.

You might consider Ex. 35 and 36 for a parallel teaching. I don't believe Jesus the Man taught differently than Jesus the Creator God of the Old Testament. For one thing He said He didn't come to teach differently. Jesus didn't heal every random sick person nor did He feed every random poor person. There was a reason for that.

His point is to serve Him, and trust Him.

Not Him creating new Commandments. The idea is that in His Church there isn't one person loaded with comforts and another too poor to feed his family.

Not like Mainstream Christianity where "MANY" pastors are lining their pockets with the life of Kings off peoples offerings while there are members of the same church struggling with expenses.

I don't think you get the Parable.

We all know that Jesus preached to the Jews while Paul preached to the Gentiles. I feel that Jesus brought the Law to its full expression just to show the Jews that no one can be saved by keeping it.

Here are some evidences that some of Jesus’ teachings were for the Jews only:

Matthew 5:20
For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:23
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, …

Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions and give to the poor”.

Matthew 19:16
Jesus said to the young rich man: “If you want to enter life, keep the commandments”. Then: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor”. Jesus added: “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.

I know that Christians in the first century did sell possessions and shared the money with those in need, but they didn’t do that in an attempt to keep any law – they were just being guided by the Holy Spirit. We Christians are not required to sell our possessions and give alms, but Jesus taught that as a commandment to the Jews.

Most of us, in Christian Chat, are relatively rich. So, if all of Jesus’ teachings are for Christians, practically no one in here will be saved.

Many of the principles that Jesus taught are everlasting, but I feel that some are not.

Again, my question is: Which of Jesus’ teachings were applicable only to the Jews?

when you begin stating that some of His words arent eternal its getting off track, Jesus words are the authority for the church, Jew, gentile no matter.

he doesnt say " some of my words are eternal and some arent. He says His words will never pass away. he is the Messenger of the covenant, ( malichi 3) the One who set Gods Judgements in the earth for gentile and Jew alike. He was always meant for Gentiles to bring them into the same Body as the Jews. its what paul says is the revealed mystery that was Hidden with God from beforehand. that the gentile and Jew would be made one through the Gospel.

ephesians 3:3-11 "How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery.....v.5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:.......

v9 ....And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:"

Jesus spoke the doctrine of God

john 7:16-17 "Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself."

and paul says this

1 timothy 6:3 "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself."

when a person is trying to omit Jesus teachings they are trying to omit Gods Living Word that will never change. Jesus is the One to believe and go with on every matter in the church, nothing since He spoke changes anything He said.

it doesnt matter who he said it to, because He told tham afterwards to go teach the world everything He taught them. His words were sent to the whole world through the apostles paul, and everyone else. peter preached to gentiles and they received the Holy spirit.

Jesus said a centurion gentile had the greatest faith in all israel. and then theres this

matthew 12-21 " But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; 16And charged them that they should not make him known: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust."

the joseph prince version how he taught the " Mosaic Law" and that were not under it is a deception, Jesus words are the words all His teachings are for His disciples and thats what Christians are God has made clear who our trust is in, so His words shouldnt be an issue when He is the Lord above Heaven and earth, exalted above the heavens. he is the Lord " commander" "King" Ruler" over all peoples , lanuages and nations. the gospel is for creation jew and gentile are no more there is one body, one faith, One baptism, One God and One Lord over all, His Son Jesus Christ.

So you are saying I should sell my possessions and give the money to the church leaving my family without a place to live??? You are following that I presume. So you and your family live on the streets. You have a very strange theology.

Did you bother to read who Jesus was talking to? Look at the first verse I am posting from Luke 12. You people who take verses out of context give me a big pain where I sit. How many of the disciples have wives and children!!!

Do Not Worry

22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Luke 13:33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; ......... I don't think you are understanding this chapter correctly.
In or out of context the meaning is the same: Sell that ye have, and give alms.

Up until a few months ago I, too, thought that ALL of Jesus' teachings applied to Christians. We must acknowledge that there are differences between the teachings of Jesus during His earthly ministry and the teachings of Jesus after the cross (through Paul).

The differences between Jesus and Paul can be explained by the fact that when Jesus was on earth the Law was still in force, whereas Paul preached during the dispensation of Grace. If this fact is taken into account it becomes easy to understand the differences between Jesus' teachings before the cross and Jesus' teachings after the cross (Jesus and Paul).

Take your own advice and sell everything and live on the streets with your family. You seem to be deliberately obtuse. You ignore the admonition to be good stewards of what God gives us.

I see that a little differently. I would offer there is no difference between the word of God and the word of God. I think you meant through prophecy God's word not the beautiful feet of the apostle, but the beautiful mouth of God. He does not change..

God is no respecter of flesh. The flesh of a outward Jew is not different that that of a unconverted gentile. If any man has not the born again Spirit of Christ, he is none of Christ.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The refomation has come the types and shadows that spoke of Christ in respect to the flesh of a outward Jew are cut off.

Remember all Israel ("God prevails" ) is not Israel or the new name God named His people Christian, the bride of Christ.

And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!Mat 21:19

The born again Jews in the old testament that had the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of grace just as we do today . God puts no difference between them and us

Act 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith........ (a work of His faith according to His three day labor of love )

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.1Pe 1:9
