Hello OFM all my prayers are directed to the Father, in the Son, through the Holyspirit.
Thats the way the Word of God specifically told me to pray.

The verse you used has had something inserted into. naughty naughty. Thats forbidden.

As a non-Catholic I don't pray to the saints. However I did some research and I think if I had such a saint, it would be St. Isidore of Seville. He is the Patron Saint of computers, writers, databases and philosophers. The dude was a genius and him and I probably think alike. (Except for the whole anti-Jew thing. :/)

I'm pretty sure that verse has to do with actual rituals to speak to the dead, not praying to a dead family member or a saint...
I'm glad someone finally realized that the verse is referring to things like seances.

But on to the OP. I have more than one St. George (patron Saint of soldiers, equestrians, Germany, and England among many others. I was also confirmed with the name of St. George so he is my personal patron as well.) St. Philomena (patron Saint of children, infants, youth, lost causes, and virgins) and finally Our Lady of Victory (better known after Vatican II as Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary).

So that truth might be known
It's perfectly understandable why most Catholics avoid the forums since anti-Catholicism hasn't gone out of style on here.

The question has been posed in this website. The name of this forum is "Christian Chat." As brethren in the Messiah, we are bound to share the enlightenment afforded each of us by the Holy Spirt.
We are bound to share with those of the Same spirit the teachings learned from the Word with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
No one who reads the Word front to back regularly can possibly believe in praying to any creature of our Maker, we are instructed to direct all prayer to our Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

Even great prophets were warned not to bow to the angels sent to them as messengers. Why? The angels forbade them declaring themselves to be servants of the Most High just as we are to be.

Their words, "Worship God." I pray you understand this, always in Jesus Christ, amen, or do you call Him Yeshua?
The thing is the Angels and Saints are our equals and fellow believers united to the Church Militant (Church on Earth) and the Church Suffering (Church in Purgatory), and as such they will intercede for anyone that asks them to. Now don't get all uppity about the word "intercede" because I know you have no problem with the idea of intercession.

It is my earnest prayer that Truth from Scripture will never go out of style. Perhaps a study of the word "worship", even just in the New Testament, would be a treasure of Truth. Perhaps, if it is God's will to deliver one from creation worship, God would send an angel like the one John crouched to (worshipped) in Revelation, and he too will say, "See that you do not do that. For I am your fellowservant and of your brothers the prophets,........pay homage to (worship) God".

My two favourites are St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Michael the Archangel. In fact, I got dispensation from my bishop when I was received to take both of them as my patrons. Recently I've been reading a bit of St. Seraphim of Sarov as well and might have to get an icon of him soon.

Lets get it straight...

The protestants here are NEVER going to understand the concept of catholics asking saints to pray for them.

You can tell them that Jesus declared that those who are in heaven are not dead, that medically uncurable miracles are required and must pass a very rigid and thorough investigation by the church just to consider one for sainthood, or that God said that the prayers of a righteous person are very powerful. It doesn't matter. They don't get it..they don't want to get it...no amount of explanation is going to sway their thinking! That is what makes them protestant! Martin Luther is their pope. If Luther said it, they take it as doctrine. They will gladly dump on our pope, but never question their own.

In case anyone can't tell, threads like this make me angry. I don't usually judge protestants, only when they judge me and my catholic brothers and sisters by calling us idol worshippers, calling our pope the anti-christ, our church the great prostitute and the apostasy, etc..

People should really try to understand the catholic's point of view before passing judgement.

Do not accuse everyone that protests your organisation and rituals as being guided by martin luther.
I protest the lies, but i certainly would not make an idol of another, how hypercritical would that be.

Why you feel the need to pray to a rc saint in place of Yahvah God in the name of Yahshua the messiah is upsetting.

You are under the influence of something very dark... If only you would let go of "man" and take hold of Almighty Yahvah God in the name of Yahshua the Messiah.

You hardened hearts can be softened by the truth.

You just proved my point. You say you don't follow Luther and then you say the very thing Luther taught. You said we PRAY TO and idolize saints.

To answer the question, why ask a saint to pray for you, lets go back to Job and his friends. Job's friends prayed but God did not accept their prayer because they made God angry. God told them "Job will pray for you and I will accept his prayer on your behalf and not deal with you according to your folly." (Job 42:8)

Also, in James 5:16 it says "The prayers of a righteous man are both powerful and effective." We believe the saints are righteous people that we ask to pray for us.

Did you notice the part that says "God told them"????????

Who told you to do the same?

The prayers of a righteous man, not a prayer to a righteous man!!!!
