God's desire has always been for his people to become a 'kingdom of priests.' Remember Exodus 19:6:


“Now if you obey me fully and and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be a treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”

The order of Melchizedek is God's desire for Israel. Followers out of all countries will rule with Christ as a kingdom of priests. Like Melchizedek, they will serve the bread and wine, representing to the Messiah's body and blood, and the blessing of life to all nations in the coming ages.

Why is Melchizedek really an important figure? It is on the grounds that his order unveils about God's desire for his followers, a 'kingdom of priests.' Remember God's promise in Exodus 19:6:
