What is also bothersome is the fact that many do not accept that man is

You guys believe in immortal soul too. Just for the saved. :p

I could quote the same verse and say eternal life isnt eternally existing cause hey, only God is immortal. Thats not how we do it.

I've posted this many times already so you are clearly not reading my posts.

Heb_2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Even the devil will be destroyed.

Eze 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Eze 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

He will be devoured by fire, turned to ashes and shall never exist anymore. That's Annihilation.
Already adressed, Hebrews 2:14 is what Jesus did on the cross.

Runningman posted the same verse. Ive heard all the arguments already.

No, the difference is that we are not born with an immortal soul, but put on immortality through our faith in Jesus Christ.

For the perishable must be clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
1 Corinthians 15:53-54

For me it is very easy to see the difference... we attain to life ever after through faith alone.

A figure speech because the devil will be destroyed rather than live forever:

Heb_2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

He will be devoured by fire, turned to ashes and shall never exist anymore. That's Annihilation.

Satan doesn't 't have a body. How can he have ashes? Read the whole chapter again. It is about an evil ruler and his kingdom who seems to be possessed by Satan. He is the one who will fall and it is a prophecy that was fulfilled like the fall of a great evil ruler like Nebuchadnezzar and Babylon

SMH

IN the context of the topic of hell You said :

"the forever and ever regarding the devil is a figure of speech and not literal."

The words here you said only pertain to the devil as figurative? Even though the place the verse is speaking about is hell?

We have a devil that is "a figure of speech and not literal."

SMH. I said "forever and ever" was "a figure of speech and not literal".

First you claimed I said that about hell, and now you are claiming I said it about the devil. I did not say hell devil was "a figure of speech and not literal".

Satan doesn't 't have a body.
Yes he does. All angels have bodies. He is a fallen archangel.

How can he have ashes? Read the whole chapter again. It is about an evil ruler and his kingdom who seems to be possessed by Satan.
The passage is about satan not a human man.

Ezekiel 28:9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Ezekiel 28:10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 28:11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Ezekiel 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

How many people were in the garden of God and had been an anointed Cherub?

Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Ezekiel 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Ezekiel 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Ezekiel 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Again this is written to a Cherub not a human. Only (called the serpent) matches the person in this passage.

Eternal suffering really destroys the image of a loving God.
The death of the unsaved including Satan, will be complete death for ever and ever.

Why would God burn people for ever and ever? Why would God make people suffer for eternity because they were bad for 70 years? That is an unfair God.

People long ago made that stuff up to scare people into going to church and tithe. They made God into a bogey man, a monster to be afraid of.

Thats merely humanistic thinking. Western 21st century modern interpretations of men.

Why would we send someone to prison for 25years for being "bad" for 5minutes? That is an unfair prison system.

The issue is who you offend, if you spit on a regular joe, you will at most get a black eye, if you spit on the king of a country, its a different story.
Now imagine if you spit on the King of the universe and that is why the punishment is so "out of proportion" to our human minds.

Just the fact that we are living today shows God is very "out of proportion" and "unfair" from a human perspective. Would we ever punish someone's descendants for thousands of years after they disobeyed us once? No. But that is exactly what God did to Adam and Eve, and we are still feeling the effects of that till this day. Babies are born with terrible illnesses and deformities, people are just suffering, animals are suffering. Thats not fair, why did God curse the animals as well who did nothing? Why did God drown the animals during the noah's flood? Thats not fair, thats animal abuse. we need to call PETA on God.

See all this is just humanism, its the way we perceive fair and just, and how WE would do it. We are not God and we do not decide whats what.

The Devil will certainly wish he was destroyed.

Revelation 20:10 (NKJV)
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And
they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

So God will drown all but 8 on Earth including children, and burn Sodom alive, including children, but He won't burn people in Hell "forever and ever" as He said He would? A VERY risky position!

God said those who don't fear Him are fools!

Proverbs 1:7 (NKJV)
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But
fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I have always been close to God my entire life and the God I know does not plan to torment people who reject him for all eternity. I know what is taught and the scriptures that those who teach this use, can you tell me how a wonderful and loving God would torment forever. Putting something bad to sleep forever and out of its misery, like a dog with rabies, is merciful. Please explain without scripture (because I know the verses well) ...explain by your experience and relationship with God what he revealed to you about this. I don't understand, the God I know is not like this. I do believe there is a judgment and evil people who reject him will not have a good end, but not that way.
Oh really? Wow what a new age religion approach to God's word.
You are right...it is not a good end.
You are attempting PC..it won't work.

Why the flood?
Why burning the city?
Why,why,why,why?
Study scripture and your conclusion must change.

God is a forgiving, loving, helping God. That has nothing to do with His commandments.

Remember, there is no PC in the Bible.

No, I came to the knowledge of my sin when I was 21 and repented and Got saved 20 years ago. But, I always felt close to God even before that. Even before I ever heard of Jesus I would tell God I was sorry as I child. I was never raised in church and didn't read the bible until I was 21, I'm 43 now. For some reason, I always felt compelled and overwhelmed by my actions and would repent, even before I ever heard of those words. I have always loved God even as a small age. I know the Bible well and know the scriptures very well too, but I don't believe that those who reject Jesus are tormented forever in hell. It doesn't seem to line up with the God I know, despite people's interpretation of what scripture says. I have translated the bible and I believe the idea of torment in hell is an interpretation of what it says in English, not the original language.

I got saved 20 years ago and baptized. I just don't believe that believers are interpreting the scriptures regarding torment in hell accurately. Matthew 10:28 is very clear that God destroys your body and soul. I believe that Gehenna is this action, not a place of torment. I believe God completely destroys your existence and you cease to exist anywhere. I don't believe that this will be painless, just not forever, perpetually like what is taught.

If you are on this earth ...you are not saved.
At best you have repented, been baptized and are living a righteous life....born again.
We are only saved when God says we have complied with His commandments and are awarded such status...that is after we die......remember..."it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement".
If you are ....saved...what are you being judged for?... (....ed on a word means a lot...makes it history).

The Bible says ...in no less than 13/14 times...apply common sense.

Three verses say he will be destroyed. You have one verse that is using forever and ever in a figurative way. He can't be destroyed AND be tortured in hell forever can he?
