The body and soul are destroyed in hell. That's the first death.
The second death happens after the resurrection of the damned. They get destroyed in the lake of fire.
Spirits don't get "destroyed".
They just end up somewhere, after the body dies and the Spirit is released from the body.
If born again, = Heaven
If not, then you end up with the Devil and His angels., who do not get "destroyed".

Hell/Lake of Fire, are not where you go to be destroyed.

Here is what you need to add into your concept of Hell/LOFire, regarding the Great White Throne Judgement and the Lamb's book of Life.

All that happens to the unbeliever's Spirit after death releases it from the body....., is that they are allowed to go, after they die, where they chose to Go when they were on earth.

See, Heaven or Hell, is a eternal destination....= is a choice we make here on earth.
Jesus said...>"you must be born again"..........or ....
So, what you decide to do about that determines where your spirit ends up after you DIE.
A person choses where they are going to end up in the end, spiritually, ........based on......"born again" or not on earth.

This isn't "hateful God burning people".
This is , "i didnt choose to be born again, so, God allows you to go where the Christ Rejectors and the Devil and his angels end up.

Its really that simple.

See, the Christ rejectors remain "children of the devil", and they go to the place "prepared for the devil and His angels".

I think you're misinterpreting hell as a place of eternal torment for all those who reject Christ. If you have a verse stating this then feel free to post it. Your words and opinions do not trump the language of the scriptures so they're just that: your words and opinions.

The verse you mentioned about the place prepared for the devil and his angels doesn't say the torment lasts eternally. It says the fire lasts eternally. That's a big difference.

Matthew 25:41
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

That story is about Hades and not the final judgement. Everyone is eventually pulled out of Hades.
Story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 doesn't say that the torment lasts forever. It's really interesting that none of these verses actually say the torment lasts forever.

Read what i wrote, or read my Thread.

I stated that hell, then the Lake of Fire, is where Christ rejectors end up "with their Father"..

I take it you're quoting Revelation 20:10

10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

There are only three persons who are described as being tormented day and night forever: the beast, false prophet, and the devil.

Generally speaking, rank and file unrepentant sinners aren't described being tormented day and night forever.

Any man who worship the beast(satan) will be tormented day and night forever.

Revelation 14:9‭-‬11 KJV

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Notice those verses say "the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever" and that they "have no rest day nor night."

It doesn't say the torment lasts forever. Again, the Bible doesn't teach eternal suffering for sinners. If it did it would contradict numerous passages about being destroyed in hell. The Bible never contradicts itself.

I have always been close to God my entire life and the God I know does not plan to torment people who reject him for all eternity. I know what is taught and the scriptures that those who teach this use, can you tell me how a wonderful and loving God would torment forever. Putting something bad to sleep forever and out of its misery, like a dog with rabies, is merciful. Please explain without scripture (because I know the verses well) ...explain by your experience and relationship with God what he revealed to you about this. I don't understand, the God I know is not like this. I do believe there is a judgment and evil people who reject him will not have a good end, but not that way.

Let's examine someone who might represent a person who [rejects] Christ.

a Murderer
a Rapist
a Narcissist

The MINDS of people truly reveal if a person is good or evil!
You don't wake up to become evil.
You choose things to make yourself evil.

When some people reject God, they want God dead, tired of dealing with this God issue, it's a rebellion to want to reject God. Rebellion is equal to witchcraft.

You have to tell God NO, in order to become Evil!

And once you become the ultimate Version of yourself but Evil, touching people inappropriately becomes acceptable, abusing them becomes easier, doing things to them become easier, and why not just [off em], murder has become easier.

It's not like God did not love these people, He died for them, He died a horrific and humiliating Death for them. And then sent the Holy Spirit to keep reminding them He still loves them. But they have made up their mind, they have chosen to reject Him. They have chosen they don't want to be spared by God, because they HATE Him so much. God Loves them enough to Honor their Decisions and Choices to reject and deny Him.

The smoke ascends forever.

No rest day or night does not iimply the days and nights continue without end.

Read it carefully. It just doesn't say the torment itself never ends.

That story is about Hades and not the final judgement. Everyone is eventually pulled out of Hades.
According to this verse it is a final judgment

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

I hear what your saying @Jocund, that this isnt the final Judgement. Of course your talking about the great white throne Judgement which hasnt happened yet, where the wicked will be Judged, it seems bizzar that the wicked who are currently in the lake of fire would be pulled out to be rejudged. they must have been Judged to have gone into the lake of fire in the first place, the story of lararus and the richman clearly makes reference to the richman currently being in the lake of fire. which is the final placement of the wicked.
I think what your implying is hades is holding ground befor the white throne Judgment. but im not so sure it is when we see that people are currently in the lake of fire.
There may be scripture to suggest other wise, that hades is a seperate place to hell that the final judgement is yet to be decided. personaly speaking if the heavens are hearing the peoples crys who are currently in the lake of fire and talking to them, the punishment of hell may not be eternal.

Yes torment will last forever because it is eternal punisment. The smoke of their torment ascends FOREVER. That means eternity. No rest day and night. What is the use of eternal lake of fire if there is no one to burn? There is no escape said in Matthew. It is like an eternal prison, this lake of fire.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Matthew 25:41‭, ‬46 KJV

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Revelation 21:8 KJV

If your profile is correct and you are "not Christian", then you are not following Jesus Christ, which means you are lost. Surrender to Jesus Christ and be saved before you are unable.

As to eternal punishment, God sends no one. People choose to live unrepentant lives on the broad way to destruction when they reject Jesus Christ and HIS finished work on the cross. When they end in he'll, they are without excuse.

Demons will have people thinking they are worshiping the correct God and then torment peoples minds with other stuff just for the fun of it. this is how they get a hold on people by making them fear. and in turn a demons objective is to get people to frighten other people. they do this by installing fear into people and tormenting them.

One of thoses torments is a fear of being set on fire, then demons can take over there minds when there in fear, as the more people live in fear the more there mind breaks down and the more people develop mental illness, thats when a demon can really take a hold of a persons mind. this is when people fall for the temptations from demons tempting people into getting drunk or to taking drugs, (youll be happy then the temptataion will say). Demons can take over a person mind completely then. the list of people who commit searious crimes whilst drunk or on drugs is very very high. like i said earlier to you many people who have dabbled in experimenting with the quija board, are all saying after trying the quija board theyve all started to experience torment and an intense fealing of anger in there body. which they never had befor, when such people get drunk or go on drugs that intense anger from a demon can take over them. many people also complaining that the torment never stops depite turning there lifes over to Jesus after experimenting with a quija board.

So its clear that demons like to torment people forever not the holy spirit. How long can a person keep quiet when being tormented ? and how many people will speak in fear and fall for demons lies when being tormented. Its quite clear to me that people in our bible have been decieved and quite possibly theres missing scripture relating to people being decieved in our bible.

Today there are many people complaining of something not very nice effecting there thoughts. but not much mention of this in our bible for the many many curses written in our bible.

Personaly i feal any amount of time being burnt alive in a fire is long enough punishement, even 24 hours is long enough, but personaly it makes me sick because i couldnt wish that upon anyone not even for a single minute. but i know a demon could, and i know a demon would love to burn people alive. and probably through out history demons have had people burnt alive and loved every moment of watching people suffer that horrible death, demons would even enjoy the suffering people experience who survive a fire who are left disfigured for the rest of there life.

Then theres burns and deformity and scar tissue that fire can cause which i couldnt imagine anyone not fealing sympathy for. im sure most people here has probably seen the damage a burn can cause a person. but would a demon have any sympathy for that, absolutely not and then the demon would say im God and this is your punishment.

I have seen some horrible injuries from fire and herd some horrible deaths from fire, damage that never leaves the persons mind, damage that cause severe trauma (mental illness) not to mention the depression it cause the damaged individual who survives. but guess what a demon loves a damaged mind and still would look to take over that person. even better that person who survives a fire but badly deformed comes to god for help and finds out that fire will be there punishment if they dont believe. oh my goodness.

Only the righteous have eternal life. The unrighteousness don't have eternal life. Being alive forever in hell is eternal life if they never die. This means the unrighteousness do not love forever in hell.

The punishment lasts forever because the fire lasts forever.

That says the Lake of Fire is the second death. Death means that life ends. People who go to the LoF will die. They'll be annihilated.

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Matthew 23:33 KJV
Damnation of hell doesn't mean it lasts forever. The word damnation means that justice is served through a judgment.

Any others?

What does Mark 9 mean?

47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

It says this several times in this chapter.

What is "their worm" that does not die?

Isn't this their consciousness?

The story of the rich man and Lazarus isn't about the Lake of Fire, it's about Hades. The Greek makes the distinction clear.

not according to this part it isnt 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

The body and soul are destroyed in hell. That's the first death.
No, the first death is when the human body dies. The second death is after a resurrection and the person is cast into the lake of fire which is when the "body and soul are destroyed in hell".

That's the fire of Hades not the fire of the lake of fire. The fire of the lake of fire destroys the person completely.
