2 Corinthians 12: ( Paul speaking : )

9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Luke 24:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Hebrews 8:

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Hebrews 10:

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Romans 5:11

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Matthew 6:14

King James Version (KJV)

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

there are alot of scripture on forgiveness

Struggling to be good enough never works because we are by nature sinful beings. Acknowledging your sinfulness to both yourself and GOD opens the door for cleansing of his spirit. That is where you want to be: continually cleansed in his mercy. He knows who and what you are; he just wants you to know who you are and look to him to do something you cannot do. He forgives you; believe it.

OP, I'd say from your post you are doing better than you think you are. Have some grace and peace.
This is why believers greeted each other that way. Cause they all know they feel the same way as you describe.
So grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Hang in there. Read Mat 24 like it is what you are going through in your life right now, instead of just some future day for the world.

this feeling i despise. i hate sinning, the thought of sinning, and thoughts of sin. it makes me feel dirty and hell bound.

try to repent and turn from a sin, but actually turning and staying turned is a struggle within itself. we are not going to be perfect, so if we repent from our sins, how do you NOT commit that sin again? that is a very steep hill. i understand the road is very narrow and few find it, but sheesh... tiring and stressful.
I agree - it's not easy. Still, like you, I feel bad when I start giving in to temptation. I always regret it. So ... I try not to sin.

Imperfect, just your username alone show so much humility and understanding to the lord. I know exactly how you feel, I struggle very much with certain sins. No matter how much it disgusts me and how guilty I feel about and how much I just wish so much for it to be destroyed by the fire of God I fall for it anyways. it is a daily thing in which I rarely am able to overcome. It has always been a huge mountain far to big for me to climb over or go around or shatter into a million pieces. There are in fact some times I freak out and worry about my own salvation.

However, even with all this I trust God enough to know that he can make me stronger, I have complete faith that one day God and I will become so in sync with each other these things will be like swatting away a fly. whenever these doubts and fears and guilt come my way from these certain sins all I say to God is: we just have to keep moving forward. it's all I know to do, to keep going and seeking the Lords heart regardless if I know or not if these certain sins have finally defeated me and I cannot go home to be with God. My worst fear is losing my precious father, and the devil knows this so he constantly uses my weaknesses to convince me I have fallen off the path and God is so disappointed in me and I will lose him if I keep this up.

sometimes I actually believe this lie and fear twists my insides, but in the end God somehow always lets me know that there is no way in heck he is going to let that happen.

Because you will never be good or pure enough until you recieve your glorified body.

It does nto mean you should just give up. God can help us overcome our issues and said he will. But if we ever think we are good pure enough. we are in trouble. Paul never thought this, He continued to run the race knowing he has not yet obtained it. If he could not do it. we should not expect we can. As long as you feel the way you do you are lucky, and will never stop moving forward..

No bribin', no conivin', no strivin' will doThey'll never make no change in you
You can hold your breath, stand on your head
Still the changes won't come, till they're Spirit led
Abidin', that's when the changes come
Abide in Jesus, He's the best at gettin' it done

Now, a Christian brother who's name was Ben

Had a real bad problem, seemed without end
His impatience, at times, got the better of him
So he tried many methods like countin' to ten
Still, the harder he tried, the harder it got
Till his face would go red, and he cuss a lot
He'd confess his sin and forgiveness came
But then Ben would go out and do it again
What the ol' boy needed was delivery
And only God's Spirit could set him free
Ben began to abide like a branch to the Vine
Now deliverance is his every time

Repeat Chorus

Now, sister Sue had a problem, too

Though not like Ben, she kept her cool
But when it came to gossip, man, that gal could rap!
She found it hard to say something kind
Wound up hurtin' someone every time
With a juicy story, she just couldn't shut her trap
But Sue found the secret of takin' God's rest
And instead of makin' promises and doin' her best
She lets the Lord take that tongue control
Now, instead of sowin' distrust and discord
She's so busy talkin' about the Lord
That she ain't got time to talk about so and so

Song by Daniel Amos 'Abiding'

This thread is great.i would like to touch on a few things.concerning sports I was a real fanatic.i was a huge fan of football and I played all the time.i also supported Manchester united for as long as I can remember.i really fell in love with them. Then I discovered a very fast paced and exciting game called basketball and the stars at that time were majic Johnson, larry bird and a young star in the making called Michael Jordan(you guys ever hear of him)lol.i began to play and watch basketball and football(soccer as we call it back home)I got really good at basketball and after a while I got so good I went to college on a scholarship.i played soccer and basketball. The soccer really helped with basketball because of the footwork involved.at the time I fell in love with basketball I was about 7yrs old and something told me I would one day play in the nba.so time progresses and the walls in my room are decorated with basketball players.the majority of my time is spent practicing or lifting weights then when I get to the dorm im either watching high school, college or nba basketball games.i had become a slave to the game.i had made it an idol in my life without even recognizing it.i was so addicted that I didn't even have a social life and I had put God way in the background somewhere.its so easy to make something an idol without realizing it.well to cut a long story short I am so glad the Lord broke me of my addiction and slavery to the game.He allowed me to have an injury which kept me out of action for a long while during which he woke me up and revealed his true purpose for my life.He also showed me that he is not pleased when his children idolize and worship sports teams and stars and I didn't mention that the nickname of Manchester united is the red devils.i believe the devil can and will use sports to send many souls to hell.some of the more prominent basketball players are involved with the illuminati yet they have millions of fans that adore them and support them in the Christian world.we have to be careful with who and what we come into agreement with.most of us grew up playing some kind of sports and we probably all had a sports hero at some point but as we grow older we are supposed to put away childish things.our God is a jealous God and he deserves the bulk of our attention if not all of it.im not saying we all need to ditch watching sports forever I just want us all to be aware that it can become an idol and put one in slavery without one even knowing it.i wanted to make the nba so bad and I got really close while playing aba ball in Detroit.i would play in pro ams at detroits st Cecelia and I would be like a scoring machine.it was fun watching the pros try to figure out who I was and why I was scoring so much.a couple of my friends are in the nba right now and they are doing really god but the sad thing is I do not believe they know Jesus as their Lord and savior. Many time God will take us the long way round before granting us our destiny so we can build a strong relationship with him and build Christlike character so we can handle whatever temptations or distractions come with our area of promotion.my motivation for making it now is to glorify God and reach millions for Jesus whereas before it was for my own glory and purpose.also it will not be by my strength that I make it but by his strength so I will have no choice but to give him all the glory and honor.i also train kids in basketball and it is a great witnessing tool.

It sounds like the Devil is have a whole lot of fun with you. That's where your stress is coming from, not the sin or the thoughts of sin, but the devil himself. He keeps us questioning by lying to us about our worth, our value, etc. Say out loud (and I mean OUT LOUD) Leave me Satan! I rebuke you!!! I won't listen to your lies. I am a child of God! Say this every time your find yourself focusing on sins, fearing your not worthy, etc. The more you say it the easier it will be and the more effective. In other words, the more you say it, the less you'll have to say it.

i love basketball. my favorite sport. i watch it and play it regularly. and you are right, people idolize without knowing.

thats the thing, Jesus has made me aware of sin and knowing and being aware is my shield. the saying is "knowledge is power", and that is true.

i have favorite basketball players, players i like to emulate on the court to better my game, etc.. but they never get more love than Jesus or God. as long as you know in your heart that God and Jesus is above all, no question, there is nothing wrong with supporting your teams and players.

and i love that you want to make it to glorify God. thats a beautiful thing because its rare you hear any athletes talking about God and / or giving thanks to Him. its disappointing, especially when the reason they are there is their GOD GIVEN talent and ability. you have to use what you have to serve the Lord.

me, im i cut hair and i like to use that to plant seeds in peoples minds that arent really in-tune with Jesus or God. we ALL have different gifts, gifts that we must use to serve God.

When Yeshua / Jesus was tested by Satan he used the power of the word. Learn some bible verses and when the thoughts come into your mind use the word mixed with faith and you will get free. God bless

theres so many good posts in here. so much support. i have to thank everybody that posted. it really lets not only me know, but everybody on here, that (no matter how many times you hear it, or how many times you have to tell yourself) we are all on the same boat. we all struggle. we all are weak.

if you are like me, reading a lot of these peoples posts on here who are so much more Biblically inclined than me, they can make you feel belittled like you are not good enough and may be behind schedule.. and in a race, its like, how can God accept me when this man that knows the Bible scriptures inside-out like the back of his hand was just judged before me when he seems without fault.

but thats whats crazy. i dont get to make it to church often because of my personal situation, but when i do, its like God willed me there just to talk to me about whatever i been going through. and every time i make it, i always shed a fear tears during praise, its like cleansing and a feeling of acceptance.

anyway, todays message was that you should never compare yourself to other people. the preacher focused on a parable from matthew. i cant remember which one right now, but it was about Jesus giving everybody something different. He will give some people more, some people less. and its what you do with what you were given is what counts, not what you were given. and the more you are given, the more you have to lose. stay level headed because comparing ourselves amongst ourselves can lead to jealousy, envy, arrogance, etc.

all in all, this is a great thread with great posters giving great words and truth. no matter how faulty you are, you are no better or worse than the next man. so dont feel like your faults give you any less of a chance to make it.

i mean if you think about it, how many God fearing, Jesus loving Christians make their way to a internet message board to express their love and just show their support and commitment to Them? i think all of us here are on the right path and have the right passion, if you ask me. i think we have something beautiful to look forward to after this life.

Hmm - are you pursing God in bearing fruits of repentance? Yes we repent - but we can bare fruits of repentance - which will help. Remember that Satan has no legal write to accuse you if you have confessed or repented - Short accounts of sin. Repentance is hard when a pleasure is consumed though ie - food, sex etc

Remember
2 Cor 3:5 says
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,

We feel that Gap = but Jesus has stepped in the gap

One of my favorite passages.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Three thoughts, if you don't mind me sharing.

1. God's grace is what saves us. We are not saved by how well we keep the law, no matter how hard we try!

"[SUP]8 [/SUP]For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [SUP]9 [/SUP]not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Eph. 2:8-10

I was always plagued by sin before I realized that it was not about my will or my works, but rather the amazing grace of God that we are saved. And we do have an advocate with the Father

"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." 1 John 2:1

Keep it in mind that Jesus atones for our own sin, we do not have that ability.

2. I think we have probably all struggled at times with our sinfulness. Daily confession is helpful. I try to review my day and confess and repent to God, and ask for help to overcome, especially any stubborn sins. God has been so faithful to help me! But after 33 years of being a Christian, I know that overcoming does not happen in a moment. Be patient - God is teaching and working with you.

3. Scrupulosity - this is actually a mental illness, in which the person prays over and over for the same sin, and feels the same sinfulness, the same dirtiness. Your OP reminded me instantly of this disease. I saw a program on TV and then did some research on scrupulosity to help in my ministry. You might talk to a medical doctor, as there are medications you can take to get rid of the over compensating for sin, and that would leave you free to concentrate on really following Jesus.

Glad you had a good service today, and a message that touched your heart!

Another thing to remember is that when we are born again we become like a new born baby in Christ.if we compare it to a physical birth we see many similarities in the growth pattern.we don't expect a new born baby to talk, walk, feed itself or cloth itself right away.we know that this takes time.when we are new born babes in Christ we need time to learn how to walk like a Christian, talk like a Christian and clothe ourselves like a Christian.im sure we have all heard the apostle paul describe the armor of God which we are supposed to clothe ourselves with everyday.it takes time to learn how to put this armor on then we have to learn how to use the armor.during this process we graually find ourselves better able to protect ourselves from the feiry darts of the enemy which come in so many different ways.we can even learn to protect ourselves against an ambush attack from the enemy in the form of an unexpected temptation which seems to come out of nowhere but actually was meticulously planned by the devil to catch you off guard. The great thing is that God is so merciful and longsuffering that he allows us to grow into his stature over time.Grace is what teaches us to deny ungodliness and I believe this is a process that takes time. There are some people who use grace as an excuse to sin(nobody here of course)and then there are those who are genuinely trying to learn how to not fall prey to temptations.God knows the heart and our intentions, once we learn how to use the helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit which is the word of God,the breastplate of righteousness, sheild of faith etc etc then we will experience a level of freedom like never before.Things that would cause us to stumble before become easier to resist.its never going to be easy all the time that's why Jesus said to him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,he also promises us a precious stone with a new name and other really great rewards. The most important thing is to continue to grow stronger and stronger and to remember not to compare your growth with others because we all grow at a different pace, some faster, some slower.

try to repent and turn from a sin, but actually turning and staying turned is a struggle within itself. we are not going to be perfect, so if we repent from our sins, how do you NOT commit that sin again? that is a very steep hill. i understand the road is very narrow and few find it, but sheesh... tiring and stressful.

Because the church teaches God is a fascist, like mussolini and is out to punish you. So it makes us scared, and we run from Him afraid of Judgement. So every failure is magnified. The more serious we get about wanting to be His, the more we fail and fear.

Stop trying to not sin.

Make your focus learning how to love and the sin issues will take care of themselves.

1 j 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.13 By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has fnfor us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear fninvolves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.19 We love, because He first loved us.

IF WE LOVE, HE abides in us, AND His Love is perfected in us. That changes things in us. That "perfected in us" means it quickens, or cures, or matures. When it's complete, it changes us as I'll get to below.

If we abide in love, I.E., our lifestyle and our life's motivations are love focused, charity, etc... then He abides in us and us in Him. If you never committed a sin ever, but you didn't have HIM ABIDING IN YOU, do you think you have someone else to get you into heaven? Perhaps you can hire the divine lawyer? According to this verse, minus the love, HE IS NOT THERE. IF He is not there, you aren't going anywhere divine.

Now, when that Love is made complete, mature, there is no fear of judgement remaining.

So you and I can continue to try to spin our wheels beating sin, or we can accept His Grace, and that He knew and accounted for those sins before He accepted our prayers. With that Grace, we can go to Him freely, without fear of Judgement and let HIM do the changes in us that HE wants too.

Paul wrote that the church is to lead us little people to works of service. NOT to the library, but to put our hands to work. Those works ARE AGAPAO/love. And through those works, we are changed, and the change it says happens is we are made (not we make ourselves) as mature, spiritually as Jesus the Christ was on earth.

If you get the love right, you don't worry about the fear, it's not on your mind. You are so busy doing HIS works, and the people you are doing those works for, are giving you love in appreciation in return. What happens is, you become a catalyst. God's love comes from Him, through you (you are His tools of righteousness. it says_) and to the people, even His enemies. THEY then return that love to you. This is why His commandments are not burdensome, they are a joy to fulfill. You get a double dose of love, and your love is perfected through hands on training.

We can not do it alone but through Christ, he will pick us up when we fall :)
