Frankly I don´t see much difference between Obama and Bush, except the color of course, which shouldn´t matter if we are really Christians. Besides Jesus was neither capitalist or communist but a theocrat.

Hi Sword,
You sure about that? I thought Jesus was a Democrat. Championing the cause of the little guy...you know..the poor, the disenfranchised...the have-nots...people like that.

Jesus The Christ was beyond mundane political affairs, His kingdom was not from this world. Certainly he helped the poor but he never supported any political movement but only trusted in his heavenly Father.

It's cute to claim that Jesus would be a particular party-affiliation, but even in joking, for crying out loud, the LAST thing he'd be is a Democrat. If he were, first thing He'd have to do would be to disavow and disallow himself. Then tell everyone they aren't enlightened if they believe in himself.

And then rebuke anyone if they allow their faith to impact anyone or anything outside of their own lives, but trying very hard to appear supportive by patronizingly saying that he also believes in himself, he just keeps it to himself. That wa he can get votes. Oh, and he would also claim to be supportive of the little guy by commandeering the hardest workers' resources and using them to buy the votes of the little guy, explaining lovingly that they shouldn't have to worry about supporting themselves. Just vote for him.. he'll make sure they're "taken care of" in their perpetuating government-dependent downward-spiraling life.

Here's why I have chosen the "party affiliation" that I have:
I want to be like Christ.

The party which...

  1. Most closely supports that decision and defends the validity and truth of that view...
  2. Adamently defends the preservation of God's commandments being the basis for law and order...
  3. Insists that there IS a CREATOR and that man is accountable to him (though many get into office using the name without having the views thereof)...
  4. Fought to free the slaves and continue to fight for freedom from the government (while the other side, often well-intending, but without enough sense to see the actual result, demand the perpetuation of a culture of entitlement, which only endentures and enslaves people in their minds, attitudes, and more often than not, the very circumstances they were TRYING to "help them out of")...
  5. Insists that God remain a central part of our nation's heritage, culture, ethical code despite the relentless intolerance and demand for expulsion of Him by the other side...
  6. Resists resolutely the demands of the other party to except, legitimize, EMBRACE, and even TEACH immorality to our children...
  7. Insists that parents have the right to decide what's best for their children, EXCEPT when it comes to terminating their lives...
  8. Is BASED on conservative (which means not changing with the wind and whatever "feels good" - in other words; integrity) values...
...is the Republican party. Sorry if that offends you, or if people who claim to be republican don't follow the party principles. Yeah.. it happens, and it disgusts me too. If people claiming to be Christian stop acting like Christians, do we attribute that to Christianity being a negative thing? Only the foolish make this judgement.

How then, when the republican values are ignored by people claiming to be repulican, can you blame the idealogy?

I have a challenge for you Americans... Go to your state republican party website... read what they have decided their values should be as a party. These are called party "planks" and are the foundational views they are SUPPOSED to stick to, which the state members and leadership have voted on. Read these and compare them to the other party. Tell me again which party views honor God? Honestly!

There are some WONDERFUL responses - well articulated, WISE and filled with truth... but some people completely ignore the truth and it frustrates me. God, give me mercy and the right heart addittde!

I am not much of a poster but there are a few times I like to put in my two cents worth :)

It amazes me those that align with the Republican Party due to certain morals and beliefs when there has been so many that have lied in both parties (proven not by hear say but by their own words), when there have been affairs in both parties, and so many in both parties on the side of big cooperations where they get big bucks from, etc.

Both my husband and myself have been Republicans all our lives but in the last few years I opened my eyes to the faults and sins of both parties instead of just the one I am in and I have seen a lot that saddens me on both sides where I can no longer believe God would side with either party! Maybe on the side of a individual that is always truthful and caring as much about one person as another but those individuals are very few and are in both parties. I am against many things most Republicans are but I am also just as much against hate and lying for political gain as anything else and find it very hard to believe anyone could call them self a Christian and not be against many things now that is in both parties and for sure the hate I see from so many that would call them self a christian is just as wrong!! We can hate sin without hating the sinner and when I see hate being prompted the way some are doing I know that is not love.

And I am always reminded in the Bible the Scriptures Luke 18:10-14 when I see so much hate and lack of compassion by those that call their self a Christian regardless of which party they are in.

Are there any political parties in america that are actually socially conservative and economically liberal? I know that most christians in america are republicans and won't vote democrat because of social issues, but most of them also follow the party line on the economic side which to me atleast doesn't follow what they are supposed to believe(giving freely to those who are in need). I know the system is taken advantage of but does that mean that we are to deny those in need for those who do wrong? God makes His sun shine on the just and unjust.

Hi Phil,

I am curious just how much you pay in taxes to say you do not mind paying taxes for all the people around you to have everything?

I am neither Republican nor Democratic. Although, in term usages, our country is a REPUBLIC, not a Democracy. That however, hoas no reflection on the parties themselves. I prefer a third party.

EDIT: I do favor Republicans over Democrats, esepcially for Social issues, and government issues. The Republican party isn't really all that conservative though.

Hi shanaynay, I never even new such a thing existed.

I know that you can have them done here and its free also, as it comes under the NHS (National Health System) so I suppose in a way tax money goes to pay for that.

Now that is a hard one. you have me thinking. I think the benefits out weight the abortion factor (I'll get shot for saying that), what I mean is, everyone here in the UK is entitled to free medical care either in Hospitals or by a local GP, plus the free medicine to with it.

Unfortunatley, abortion is allowed in most cases, and this also comes under the free system, but not all the time. I am not agreeing with abortion, I think the other alternative is to give woman more support, bring back on the public stage the need for more care, more family orientated agenda's and to show them Christs love. anyhow i'm off topic lol.

phil
Here is my take on abortion. People have different sets of morals and ethics than mine. They may not believe in the same God as me. If they want to commit a grave sin, then let them. Everyone should be free to make their own mistakes. After all, it is between the individual and God.

MATALICA...

You have either been duped or you are willfully spreading misinformation. There have been no acts of violence related to actual T.E.A. Party events.

This movement is in opposition to more taxes and is hardly limited to professing Christians.

I've got two coworkers, both professed Christians, both have stated it would be wonderful to see Obama taken care of physicaly and with a lot of racial slurs, it's disgusting to hear them talk.

Then I see these Tea Party movements where they are now turning violent, a lot of tea partiers are christians, go to church.

I haven't seen any single religious authority come out and tell these christians to stop being so hateful and violent.

It makes me ashamed to be a Christian when I see Christians acting like this, and on top of that going totally against what the early church taught and that was love and compassion for everyone, not just those who already have health insurance or fat bank accounts.

Matt

so I'm assuming it must make you sick when you see the BUSH"S (catholic christians)..go to skull and bones frat parties..

do real blood sacrifices at Bohemian Grove...and ...and..partake in "sexual games" with young children...

(shudders at the disgust of what illumiati families will do )

now Obama is said to be from an illuminati bloodline as well..(they don't get into power in your country unless they are..same her..in canada)

I see Obama as a bifg fat liar.....who bows and is controlled by none other than george BUSH SR..

did you see the pics...of the last % presidents after His election win..

George Bush SENIOR was FIRST in the line up that day..in the OVAL OFFICE..

Obama looked like he would kiss his ...if goerge asked him to...

No..I have no respect for OBAMA..or the BUSH Family..

SO BE IT..

shoot me ..if you don't like me telling the truth..

I'd love to die for a good reason!!!

Like telling the TRUTH

I've skimmed over the threads of this topic, and I'm leery of adding anything else to it because I honestly think it's a waste of time.

So I'll say this. Jesus gave very few direct commands, but of those commands I believe we should devote our whole attention. But no where does he give any inkling, any hint, any innuendo that we should be so passionate about politics or things of this world. And politics and things of government are just that--worldly. Yes, they affect other things, but they have no bearing on eternity.

The greatest command he gave was the Great Commission, to go out and preach the Kingdom. Not democracy, not the glories of America. Paul espounds on this as saying our citizenship is there, in the Kigndom of Christ, not in the worldly countries on earth that are ruled by the devil--whether Obama, Bush, Reagan or the Queen of England is in charge.

So, can we talk about more pressing things? Like Africa? Instead of buying books that spread hate and distract from the real mission at hand--salvation--can we make sure Africans have clean water? Toilets? Can we make sure North Koreans don't have to risk a bullet in the back because they're escaping to the mountains to eat grass?

Let's just focus on Christ. Jesus. Our king. In whom we have our identity and saved us from all sorts of darkness... including factions and politics. He be our king! Not Obama, not Reagan, not Palin.

There is so much more grandeur and majesty in worshiping him than whatever patriotism and politics can engender. Those things divide, worshiping Christ unites us ... and purifies us from all sorts of bad thinking.

So I've said my peace. Seek Christ, not politics.

The end.
