You know me Ben, therefore you know my response is gona be just "out there". I will speak on my decades ( I feel old) of my walk with the Lord. Satan will tempt in areas we are weak... he wont waste his time in strong areas. He is out to win in the spiritual battle. So, knowing his strategies, when I am in a place of temptation I will BOLDLY APPROACH THE THRONE OF GRACE...why?....because there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ. I will ask the Lord WHY I feel tempted or even fallen in that temptation. The Lord will then show me either damage done in me, something lacking in me that I haven't asked the Lord to fill, or an area in my spirit I havent protected properly because the boundary lines have shift . ( Boundaries are a topic all of their own). Once I have the understanding of WHY it is a temptation I can then defeat the enemy IN THAT AREA. When the Son sets you free you are free indeed. Once I have overcome an area in my life THROUGH Jesus I have never returned to it. I loose all interest. My thinking and understanding has changed and I have been restored. Look at Jesus temptation in the wilderness. Satan targeted a certain area. He didn't throw in a naked woman in front of him as a "sexual" distraction or temptation because that would not have worked with Jesus. Even though he was a man he was also God...the creator of both men and women. He created women. Why would he even look at a woman in the same light as a man would? His understanding of a woman and her form was far beyond any man would understand because he was God AND a perfect man walking in absolute pure holiness. What Satan did do was try to tempt Jesus into NOT going to the cross.. saving him hours of suffering... by offering him the Kingdoms of the earth.Satan also kept trying to "creep in the back door" by goading Jesus to rise up in pride. Repeatedly he said "if" you are the son of God. Speaking TRUTH without rising up in pride and anger to defend yourself is not easy.

If you are tempted in any area of your life then Satan sees it is a weakness in you. If it continues then you are not free in that area in Christ. It needs to be healed, restored, set free in that area. We can do ALL things THROUGH Christ who strengthens us. Trying to figure it out ourselves or try to defeat it in our own strength will lead to good days and bad and never being an OVERCOMER. Some days we will resists other days fail and look to the Lord for his mercy. We are called to be OVERCOMERS and only through Christ can we do that.
Thanks for the insight. So in accordance with my question, the solution in part is to find the why to overcome the temptation. It relies on the Lord to give us understanding as to the reason we are weak in an area.

1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Although we do not like temptation,it is easier on the saints than on the world,so they can endure it easier, and God will cause them to escape the temptation.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

If a person is sincere, and honestly do not want sin,and hates sin,by the Spirit it is a piece of cake to endure temptation, like a little baby tugging at your sleeve, that you can easily put to the side, and beat that little annoyance.

And some act as if it hard to abstain from sin.

Are you going to let a little baby beat you,big tough man.

It is not that we cannot abstain from sin,but we want to sin, unless a little baby can control you.

When temptation comes, flee.

1Ti 6:2 Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things.
1Ti 6:3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness,
1Ti 6:4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions,
1Ti 6:5 and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain,
1Ti 6:7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.
1Ti 6:8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
1Ti 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Fight the Good Fight of Faith
1Ti 6:11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

What is the definition of "test" when it comes to faith? I mean, God knows the end, so he knows the result, right?
The spirit of the reborn of the Spirit of GOD person Is saved and sealed but as long as we are In the flesh In this world without our glorified bodies yet we will be tested.

When I say tested I didn't mean tempted.

Temptation

Someone said that God does not need to test faith to know it really exists.
There maybe be something we actually miss. The only way you know real faith
or strength is when it is tested. The difference between reality and falsehood or
delusion is when trials come.

We ourselves think we know ourselves, are so bold and unbounded.
Peter thought that, said as much, and then within hours denied his very words.

So the difference between reality and delusion is at the point of testing.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

God himself defines these realities. We are people of God called to show through
our free will we will follow righteous love and not fall into sin. Let us be true and
not hypocrites, the true children of our Father, God bless you, amen.

Yes Ben.That's why people struggle with different things. Different areas of their lives have been damaged therefore different areas of their lives need healing and Jesus came to heal the broken hearted and set the captives free. Trying to continually resist temptation in our own strength is not rely and trusting in the completed work of Jesus. If we do that we are "trying to save ourselves" and make ourselves good and acceptable to God. We fail to walk in truth. We already ARE acceptable to God clothed in Christ's righteousness. Let me give you an example of how this works in real life, a testimony from my life... putting Gods word into practice doing all things THROUGH Christ who strengthens me.

When I left England I knew no one in this town I moved to. No job, no friends, no church, no internet. Just me and my kids heading on a new adventure with the Lord. I had only been here a month when my car needed its MOT ( legal service done every year). I found a place just outside of town and dropped my car off. I went back later to pick it up but they hadn't finished so waited around whilst the main office was locked up. The next day the guy who had been in the office txt me to see if I had got my car ok ( I had to leave me phone number when I dropped my car off). At first I thought that was a bit strange as that would never happen in England. Customer service was never that high an agenda back there. My second thought was that maybe people are just nicer around here, community. I politely responded back and said what time I collected it and that everything was ok with it. He continued to engage in conversation. Before long he was flirting with me as the boundary line shifted from professional to personal and he wanted to meet up with me. Now this strategic move from the enemy highlights many things. He knew I was alone. I was cut off from everyone I knew including my best friend who gives me the most prayer support. I had no internet. I found out this guy was married. This is a small town where gossip is rife. If I had gone down that path it would have robbed me of so much more in years to come. How I felt at the time was a very strong temptation to meet this guy even though I KNEW it was not right. Feelings are a powerful force. I needed Jesus help so boldly approached the throne of grace. There is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ. I do not walk in shame even in the midst of something not good. Within half an hour of praying and spending time seeking God I went from a woman who was holding onto something that would have destroyed so much to a woman who let it all go with absolute no desire to go back there. God showed me how I was feeling little self worth since being alone and this guy was feeding that DAMAGE in me. I went from a woman needing this mans words to make me feel good to a woman who realized he had no respect for women at all and my worth was so much more than that all within half an hour. I went from a deep longing within me to wanting to see him to a righteous anger that he saw me in such a unworthy manner. He wasn't building up my self worth he was using my sense of no self worth for his own selfish means. Half an hour praying and seeking God, letting Him HEAL ME, build me up and SET ME FREE.

I can do ALL things THROUGH Christ who strengthens me. With that understanding I am without excuse if I continually sin in any area of my life. It means I am not going to Him, I'm trying to do it alone. God planted 2 trees in the garden. We have to ask ourselves which tree are we going to eat from? Jesus who gives life where we go to him for our understanding and our strength, our healing, our freedom. Or the tree of knowledge where we try figure it out in our own strength?

Thats a scary thought though, isn't it? To think that paradise is dependent upon our own ability to resist temptation? It falls in line with the belief that one maintains their salvation, and its faulty because God's word in Hebrews says that Jesus lives forever interceding on our behalf and He is able to save us completely. So even into eternity it is Christ who sustains us.
Life is life. There is temptation. That will never change. I'm sure the temptations in the resurrection will be minimal, but we still have to resist them.

For instance, we aren't allowed to look lustfully at people. When we pass onto the resurrection, we still can't look lustfully at people. We need to learn to resist the temptation to do that.

Look at the words used in James 1:

vs 13 - tempt (Greek peirazō) - to solicit to sin.

vs 14 - drawn away (Greek exelkō) - to lure. This term is used in hunting or fishing.

vs 14 - lust (Greek epithymia) - desire for what is forbidden.

vs 14 - enticed (Greek deleazō)- to catch by a bait; to beguile.

vs 15 - conceived (Greek syllambanō) - actively lay hold of.

In hunting, just as game is lured from safety through bait, our adversary works on us in the same manner. Our enemy solicits us to sin by luring us with something enticing.

However, it is not sin to be tempted. As pointed out earlier, our Lord Jesus Christ was tempted in all points like us, yet He without sin Sin results when the temptation actively lays hold of us and we act on our lusts.

1 Peter 5:6-10 has helped me in overcoming temptations:

1 Peter 5:

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

When faced with temptation, turn to Father and submit to Him. Cast all cares to Him. Resist the adversary and know that you are not alone in your trials and temptations. All our brothers and sisters face times of trial. And the God of all grace uses these times to perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us.

We are never alone in our trials and temptations. We are watched over by a Father Who loves us more than we can comprehend. And He works in us in those times when we believe we are most weak. Rather than dwell on how weak we are, we need to rely on how strong our Father is. His ability to deliver us from our trials, and temptations is greater than our ability to try and overcome in our own ability.
