Why do some people believe it is wrong to ask questions about the Christian faith? It is clearly written in 2 Timothy 2:15 (New International Version, 2011), [SUP] "[/SUP]Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." Yet if one is to correctly handle the word of truth, doesn't that require one to study the Word diligently? Doesn't it require we ask serious questions about Scripture and ask also how to apply the truths derived from those questions of Scripture to our faith? Aren't we in danger of being misled to believe false teachings if we do not question what it is we are being taught to believe?
If people did not question what was being taught by some in religious authority, we might believe Jesus was not fully God and fully man. We might not believe Jesus was actually the Messiah. We might even believe in false teachers and false Christ's like Jim Jones (Peoples Temple), "Do" (Heavens Gate), and David Koresh (Branch Davidians).
God has blessed us with the gift of reason. We should not abuse his gift by neglecting to put it to use.
Grace and Peace!
