I am not aware Satan has any power at all. It seems to me he just has influence. A lot of people prefer giving in to temptation, as opposed to doing what is right. Whenever you see someone acting pridefully, I would say they are under the influence of Satan.

Satan has power because people don't pray. Satan has power because people aren't casting out devils like the word tells us to. People are not putting satan under their feet like the word says to. The devil is whispering in peoples ears and they are not telling him to get away. In Jesus name we are told to rule over satan. How many people don't even believe in Jesus? They have turned their power over to satan. The satanist, all the false god worshippers they have all given power to satan.

I agree. This fallen angel's power is nothing more than a continual search for the ignorance of mankind. If an individual doesn't know that Jesus overcame satan at the cross, as proclaimed in John 16:33 ... In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.", then he is able to deceive, and influence them.

Whether in cases of spiritual oppression, or possession, satan's kingdom operates oportunistically. Devils prey on the weak, the ignorant, the double-minded, the self-seeking, and the prideful.

One way that devils usurp false authority over both unbelievers and believers, is by isolating them. Isolation limits fellowship, support, and good counsel, leaving a person to their own thoughts, which can be extremely non-productive and self-destructive.

In Mark 5, a clear case of possession occurred. One of the first things the demons did to this man, once they inhabited him, was to 'isolate' him. ( Mark 5:3 He lived in the tombs).

Isolation can often result in ...

.. No Church attendance
.. Increased indulgence into sinful activities
.. Unhealthy thought patterns
.. Decreased communication with others
.. Contempt for others

In an attempt to prevent people from attending Church, devils convince some to believe certain suggestions. These suggestions may sound something like this ...

- I don't have to go to church to be a Christian
- There are too many hypocrites in the Church
- I have to get my life together first

.. and the Isolation process begins.

Excellent observation.
