Why we need to know the Word of God!
Satan knows the Word of God better than most Christians; it is for this reason that he deceives us so easily. He started this deception in the Garden of Eden.

What God said to Adam.
Genesis 2:15-17 “15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

What Satan said to Eve,
Genesis 3:1 “1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

What Eve said to Satan.
Genesis 3:2-3 “2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.” All verses from the NIV

As you can see, Eve misused the Word of God by adding to it. She obviously thought that if it was good not to eat the fruit then it must be better not to touch it. Satan used this to deceive her.

Satan’s lie.
Genesis 3”4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil," 5

We can only surmise what would have happened if Eve had used the Word of God correctly. What we do know is that Satan uses our lack of familiarity with the Word to deceive us and to bring us down.

If we do not know the Word of God, we will not know the true Jesus!

Matthew 24:23-25 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.”

In Christ!

Couldn't agree with you more. There has yet to be any that 'show great signs and wonders' though.

Personally, I suspect that Adam told Eve that God had said they were not to touch the tree. One doesn't really know.

I do agree, however, that adding to the Word of God can be as dangerous as taking away from it.

When Satan tempted Jesus after His 40 day fast, he (Satan) added to the Word of God and, had Jesus not reconized that, He too might have been decieved and the result would have been tragic for all of us.

Satan knows the Word of God, not better than ''most'' Christians, he knows it better than ''ALL'' Christians. We have to remember that he was there, in the very presence of God when the creative work was done.

Anyway, Study to show yourself approved unto God.

God bless you,
Richard

The word feeds the mind, heart and soul. It keeps the eyes healthy as well, so as to see the truth and see Jesus.
Poor eye site could cause you to mistakenly follow the wrong one.
God bless, pickles

If Adam had received the Spirit of Christ, just as Jesus had before He was driven into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted, he would not have sinned. And if by chance he did sin, he would not have hidden from God, and tried to blame God for his failure.

Knowing the bible is important, but loving God, yourself and you neighbor is more important.
