Would anyone reading this give up everything to go into the world and spread the gospel? Before you give me the pat answer, what I am asking is giving up your spouse, your children, all that you love and hold dear. And never again have anything but the clothes on your back?
I am not looking for scriptures that would show you can have these things. or those that can be used to prove this is not what God is asking.
I am simply asking you to search your heart and give me the most honest answer you can. Don't worry if the answer is no, I can assure you it is the most honest answer.

If God Himself beckens me to do so, and speaks very loudly and clearly when He tells me to, after I ask Him if He's sure that He was talking to me. I would try. Oh yeah, just curious, would there be any diciples to keep me company? Would I have any special powers?

You would have the same gifts you have now. You could hook up with others who are in agreement with you but you could not created unbreakable bonds ( of love) with anyone till your death.

If the Lord asked me I would. But considering 1 Timothy 5:8 and other scriptures about loving your wife and children I would have to be like Gideon and ask God to make me know for sure it was Him.

Did it a long time ago (not "spreading the gospel", but "building the Kingdom of God"). Got is all back, plus a great life. God told me I can retire. I don't want to.

I have considered this from time to time, I almost didnt marry my husband, as I questioned if Jesus wanted me in this ministry, or marraige.
But, Jesus helped me see God's will, and marraige was the path He called me to, much to my husbands relief. :)
There are times I consider this, but each time Jesus shows me that I am where He wants me right now.
Since I was a chid I wanted to serve in this ministry, it was my desire for Him, instead, God showed me His desire for me.
But my life is'nt done with yet, so who knows what will be asked. :)
The thing is? Its not about what looks to be the ministry, its all about it being Jesus's ministry, we just are called to serve, everything else
is His work in us and and for others, His glory!

God bless

HAHA, I guess that is the jackpot question. Remember Simon Peter was married when he left his father in the boat mending the nets by himslef, and he stood up and followed Jesus.

I did so a few times already. That NEVER seeing them again is not in His plans, but if it was it still would not change my descision. It does not work like you think. NO PERSON CAN SAY NO TO GOD, AFTER God has planted the obedience into that person. God showed me how He put TRUST in the fishermen's hearts BEFORE Jesus spoke to him.. saying... Follow me I will make you fishers of men.

This FAITH shown by ALL the holy men of God in the Word of God was put in them BEFORE they acted on that faith.... Obedience is actions of FAITHFUL people recieveing that FAITH as a gift from GOD BEFORE the action was taken.

We as people HAS NO FAITH, if God does not give it to us. In 1 Corinthians 12 Paul wrote down that one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is FAITH. It is an unwavering faith that would not be tossed too and fro by the Stormy sea of DOUBT! There is NO doubt or disobedience in the FAITH God gives some men. CLearly seen right throughout the Bible.

Just me answering this question is also proof that God is still giving Truth to some, and that Truth will SET THEM APART from the WORLD, through the FAITH He puts in their hearts.

Praise to God, for He is still doing His will in some hearts here on earth... May the Lord bless us and KEEP us in HIS TRUTH... His Word is Truth... John 17:17.

May the Lord maintain His church as a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such things, but it should be holy and without blemish.... Beautiful God, please make me part of this church! Amen!

no because that is not what God is asking for.

If it was really what God wanted then yes, but since you don't want the scriptures to show what God does want of people......

the purpose of this soul searching is to determine if you are willing to do things God doesn't want or require you to do, in a misguided attempt to spread the gospel to the world instead of doing what God has shown in the Bible you should do?

that was my initial thought and then I took a few steps back and realized there is no harm asking and I'm just annoyed when people tell me they DO NOT want scripture. Especially when from the post you can see they expect an honest No from most people. however I wonder why bother asking if you know that the answer is no for most?

some people may be called to go out into the world and spread the gospel because God wants them to become evangelist. However the apostles took their wives with them and stayed married. why would anyone encourage people to abandon their families? Paul stayed single so he could travel more and spread the gospel because that was his calling, but as the Bible show often says there are many parts to the body of Christ and we are to function in the place God has put us. Not run off and pick and choose what WE want to do, we should learn and serve as God has placed in us the talents and responsibilities of this life.

its more about the heart of WHY you want to go into the world and spread the gospel: to gain super powers or because God has placed in you a stewardship?

sometimes that stewardship is staying home and providing a haven for those wandering evangelists.

I wasn't asking for scriptures cause I know them. I was just asking to search your heart. Gut reaction for most would have been to say yes, because it was the most spiritually correct answer like being politically correct. I just wanted to hear how it would make you feel if that was your calling. As you see by the previous posts people are faced with this decision. Some were called others were not but God used each of them.

IS teaching your children and being there for them as a father less important than spreading God's word to strangers?

It's about responsibility. Who is going to be their father on this Earth?

The disciples didn't have wives andI know you asked for an honest answer but that really is my honest opinion.

I would have to say, that in light of what God has taught, I have an obligation to my wife and children. I could still teach wherever I go. Not only that, my wife and children would be genuinely important to me.

My teaching and ministering could be just as useful in my own town than anywhere else.

A wife and children need a husband and father though.
