In all lifestyles there are Want-To-Be's. There are want to be Cowboys. Want to be Bikers, and also want to be Christians. The problem with the want-to be's is they all want to be just like everyone they are trying to run around with, and yet never sell out to that Lifestyle. Jesus had a lot of curious followers, but when they found out what they had to do and what they had to give up those followers left, they just were to selfish to pay the price. There are Mega-churches that are teaching a feel good Fuzzy religion. I wonder if for some reason the Pastor preached that you had to repent and turn and walk in Newness of Life and be Obedient even unto Death how many of that want-to-be's Churches will Leave?
Jesus already knew that his followers were complaining about this. So he said, “Is this teaching a problem for you?
Then what will you think when you see the Son of Man going up to where he came from?
It is the Spirit that gives life. The body is of no value for that. But the things I have told you are from the Spirit, so they give life.
But some of you don’t believe.” (Jesus knew the people who did not believe. He knew this from the beginning. And he knew the one who would hand him over to his enemies.)
Jesus said, “That is why I said, ‘Anyone the Father does not help to come to me cannot come.’”
After Jesus said these things, many of his followers left and stopped following him.
