Did you already work out the Cost of Discipleship (Luke 14.25-33)?

We like to see the way of the Creator as a roses’ garden. This is correct, if we recall that, amid the roses, there are thorns:

  • “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; *Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me*.” (Psalms 23.4).

Don’t misunderstand me! I know that the correction of the Creator is precious (Job 5.17; Psalms 50.17; Proverbs 3.11; 5.12; 6.23; 8.10; 19.20; Isaiah 26.16). Nonetheless, many times, it is painful (see Hebrews 12.5-11).

It comes the question: we will run away from the discipline of the Creator or will we react like David?

  • “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts, and see if any wicked way is in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalms 139.23,24).

If we endure chastening, o Criador copes with us as with sons, to wit:

  • “So says Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am Jehovah your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go. Oh that you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.” (Isaiah 48.17,18).

And, if we take heed in His Word, behold the promise:

  • “I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in the right paths. When you go, your steps shall not be narrowed, and when you run, you shall not stumble.” (Proverbs 4.11,12).

So, if you long for having feet like hind’s feet (Habakkuk 3.19) without stumbling or being hampered, hear Creator’s voice, accept the punishment of you iniquity willingly (Leviticus 26.41) and let Him to lead you in His wisdom and righteousness, even though, many times, this sounds like crazy to the world (1Corinthians 2.14-16). 7
