Hello, This is aimed more towards Protestants and Orthodox, but Roman Catholics are welcome to add their views.

Protestants: What is the general opinion (within Protestantism) of ecumenism and modernism? What is your opinion of ecumenism and modernism?

Orthodox: The Orthodox is against ecumenism and there is even the 1983 anathema against it. How then can you justify the patriarchates involvement in the ecumenist movement.

For any Roman Catholics: What is your opinion of these things?

I don't know what the general opinion is, but I've noticed that many [Protestant/Evangelical] churches have accepted ecumenism either fully or partially. The Catholic Church has also done this, to the same degree or even more than the Protestant church (though I don't agree with the Catholic Church anyway).

Personally, as a Protestant, I think ecumenism is very, VERY bad. When you see people mixing truth with lies, you only have a lie that's harder to detect, hence, more harmful to those less dicerning.

I think that in general people don't like the truth. The gospel is not popular, so there is a tendency to water it down and make it world-friendly.

I don't know what you mean by modernism. Could you explain?
