I’ve been thinking about this for a while. The topic of love, and for me I love a good sad song (Yes, you might be wondering what this has to do with love). If you really listen to the lyrics on sad songs, you hear raw emotion of a tragedy or trial someone has went through. However, when you listen to a love song, they are always cliché… you know how I love you, how great your kisses are, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, very upbeat and dance worthy song. Sometimes, you find a good love song that has amazing emotion and life story behind it, but those are rare.
I’ve thought about this a lot in my writings of poetry. When I have trials and God comes in and saves the day (when I call on Him). I can push out a poem no problem. I mean it’s on my heart, it’s a life story, and it’s real. However, ask me to try to write a love poem about my fiancé and the words just aren’t there! It’s not because I don’t love him, because my heart has nothing but love for him. I of course love his kisses, and the butterflies I get in my tummy, and the random hugs I get! (There I go being all cliché again!)
Okay! Now to the point! I think love; real authentic love is so hard to write about because it is not all about feeling, as much as it is about action. The Bible says that God is love, and if you believe that and read His word, then you see that God takes a lot of action when showing His love for us! I’m going to share a few examples. Obviously, I will show John 3:16 first, because I know if I don’t share this I will hear about it, because after all it’s the biggest act of love God and Jesus, both gave to us!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)
God loved us and He sent His Son to die for our sins. I am not talking an easy death either. He was beaten, mocked, flogged, whipped, and spit on. He went through a brutal death, blood had to be shed to wash away our sins. He even bore our sins, all of them, all the people who sinned before Him, people that were sinning in that day, the sins you and I make today, and sins from the generations that are yet to come. He bore them and God looked away, because where there is sin, God cannot be. Jesus cried out “Why have you forsaken me?” Can you imagine such love? I sit and marvel at this so often! God wants us in Heaven with Him one day, because He is a God of relationships and love. He showed His love by sending His Son to save us, even though we didn’t deserve it.
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17 NIV)
God is always with us, how comforting is that? He loves us so much that He won’t leave our side. He also takes delight in us with Jesus in our corner, God will rejoice over us with singing. They say when one person down here is saved, there is a party going on in Heaven, they are celebrating adding a new member to the family. Do you know dear one, that God loves you so much, that He will rejoice, when you accept Jesus as your Savior!
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13 NIV)
God created us. Maybe your parents weren’t expecting you, but God was. He knit you together while you were still little. Why do you like to sing, draw, play sports, because that’s how God created you, that’s how He knitted you. He knew what He was doing Beloved! You are so special and loved by God, that He took His time to create (there He goes acting out love again!) you! He even knows the number of hairs on your head. How amazing is that? Can you even fathom it? Seriously, go look in the mirror look at your locks… can you count them all? God already has them numbered!
So, I’m sure you probably want to know where I’m going with this, or maybe you have already kind of figured it out! Here’s where I stand. I must show love with my actions, because people aren’t going to care what I know, until they know that I care about them. I can go on and on about the great commission and how much God loves them and me, however, if I don’t show love to them, or care for them they probably won’t really care what I have to say. I’m going to leave you with 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a NIV)
Do you see the word is? That makes it action. Love is patient and it is kind, and so on! These things require action. At the end it say love never fails. God does not fail us. I believe He will fight for us until the end, however, Dear One, you must make the choice. God sent His Son to you, to take away your sin. Jesus will sit and knock on the door of your heart, waiting for you to answer, and let Him come in. He will hound you; He will wait patiently, waiting for you to make the choice to choose Him. I believe that love is so hard to write about, because it is met to be experienced through actions, not read about on paper.
