When I was 5 years old, my grandmother died. It was a great loss to me for she was more than a granny to me, but a best of friends I have never had in my life. At her funeral, a Reverend I now have forgotten his name preached. I did not remember the book he opened but i remember his closing remarks, "After all these things, then the end will come. Jesus will judge sinners and cast them in a lake of fire, but the righteous will enter the eternal life." I wished I knew what he meant but i could not. My mother was not even attentive because our culture demanded that she was not to stop wailing for her mother even during the church service.

I started asking some people knew to explain to me what was it that the preacher was talking about. I (innocently) came across one of our relatives who is a Jehova's Witness faithful who told me that the end had already gone, and that those of us who were alive that day were saved. He further told me that the end of a person is when he dies. If he was righteous he goes straight to paradise and when he was a sinner he goes to a place of torment. He said that the loving, compassinate and merciful God cannot wipe the whole world full of people and punish them at once.

I have lived with this confusion since then. It caused fear, hopelessness, nightmares and all bad effects in my life. I did not grow up a good child. I was so bad boy that I did care less about God. You may not see anything to cause all these things I have explained here, but it did to me. If not carefull, it can also happen to your children.

Take care about who come into contact with your children. See that the faith they hold is in line with what is right. Find out from your children about the things they believe in as they grow. I was lost just because my parents were not there to explain these things to me. satan just planteda seed of fear and confusion in me and left my mind open to any lie in search of answers.
