To Kill a Mockingbird has huge relevance to everyone not just Christians.
Values. Family Values. Did your parents encourage inclusivity?
Can you see past a label?
So manycthings divide us these days. Not just race. Though race is a BIG one. How do I knowcwhat it is like to feel like a black person. Even in todays supposed liberal world.
I do think some liberal elites take it too far. As far ad Im concerned Serena Wiiliams is not a good role model for women or afro americans . Arrogance is not pretty. Nor are temper tantrums.
Nevertheless i need to work on my empathy for all people different to me and that includes black people.
We cant expect them to be humble and grateful either. My wife is Japanese. Ive learnt from her howcracist and sexist I can be. Just subtle actions or reactions. I hope Im better now. But these things need daily monitoring.

Have you ever experienced real exclusion?
I suffered some mild exclusion when i worked as a full time night shift worker. I was scorned by "serious" day shift workers. Nights were easier. Less work but you still had to stay awake.
No one really wanted to do night except me. I was weird I guess. But the low key low stress environment suited me perfectly. Majority of staff saw me as a strange one for sure. Maybe I liked the outsider label. I certainly didnt connect with many staff anyway.

Sometimes I think a secular writer is doing the Lords work. Though to my knowledge Harper Lee was/is Christian.
TKAM has so much of the Gospel in it.
Notice how subtle it was. Not sermonising.
Atticus is not the only good guy. Some black writers said the book didnt paint black characters well or fairly. I dont know about that.
