Righteousness isn't/can't be earned through our good works or obedience. Righteousness was earned by & is then imputed thru, Christ's faith (Rom 3:22, Gal 2:16, 2:20, 3:22, Phil 3:9, Acts 26:18) and obedience (Rom 5:19).

KJV Dictionary Definition: JUSTIFICATION; In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ.

(MY NOTE: ABSOLUTION from GUILT & PUNISHMENT. Believers are JUSTIFIED = Judicially Declared RIGHTEOUS by God. Thru/By, Belief/Faith, placed in Jesus FINISHED sacrificial sin atoning redemptive work. We become justified, sinless, in Gods eyes, the "MOMENT" we believe in Christ's sin payment & resurrection.

God see us as perfect thru "Christ's faithfully obedient, sinless redemptive work" done on/in our behalf. It's our faith placed in Christ’s finished redemptive work & resurrection whereby He washes/removes ALL of our sin Rev 1:5.)

Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words: JUSTIFICATION; denotes "the act of pronouncing righteous, justification, acquittal;" That God "justifies" the believing sinner on the ground of Christ's death, involves His free gift of life

(MY NOTE: We are justified & receive a Full Sin ACQUILTTAL. When sovereign God judicially pronounces us righteousness. Bases on our faith placed in Christ's FAITHFUL, Finished, redemptive work & resurrection.)

Impute: Strong's Concordance #1677, Verb, Greek word = ellogao
Definition: to charge to one's account, impute. Usage: I charge to, put to one's account, impute.

Impute Theology: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=impute+definition&spf=1495026567220. Ascribe (righteousness, guilt, etc.) to someone by virtue of a similar quality in another. Christ's righteousness has been imputed to us"

(MY NOTE: While the Temple was operating the High Priest had authority to impute/transfer sin (Lev 16:21). Christ is our Great High Priest (Heb 4:14). Our Great High Priest can impute our sin (Gen 15:6, Rom 4:3-8, 5:13) onto Himself & impute His righteousness onto us, as well. And we become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Cor 5:21)

KJV Dictionary Definition: REMISSION
Forgiveness; pardon; that is, the giving up of the punishment due to a crime; as the remission of sins. Matt. 26. Heb. 9.

(MY NOTE: Remission = Pardon!)

KJV Dictionary SANCTIFICA'TION definition: The act of making holy, the act of consecrating or of setting apart for a sacred purpose.

(MY NOTE: To sanctify, something is to set it apart for special use. The moment we believe/trust place our faith in Christ's Sin atoning death, burial & resurrection. God saves/judicially justifies eternally sealing us via His Holy Spirit (2 Cor 1:22, 2 Tim 1:14, 2 Cor 5:5) & sanctifies (sets us apart, for an ongoing work/mission Eph 2:10).

At the moment we truly make the decision to trust in Christ's death (sins required wage PAID) burial (proof jesus died) & resurrection (Father's receipt, payment received & accepted)

A soverien Creator God then judicially declares us righteous = Saved (DONE DEAL). Our salvation is forever secure via receiving the eternal sealing gigt of God's indwelling Holy Spirit.

We are also SANCTIFIED = set apart for a for an ongoing purpose/work/mission, unto Him, that continues until the day we meet the Lord.
