KJV Dictionary SANCTIFICA'TION definition: The act of making holy, the act of consecrating or of setting apart for a sacred purpose.

(MY NOTE: To sanctify something, is to set it apart for special use.

Throughout the OT, things that were anointed with oil: kings, Priests, sanctuary utensils, were anointed with oil. They were all chosen vessels set apart by/for the Lord to work through. (Lev 8:10, 15, 30, Num 7:1)

QUESTION: What act of good works or will did the vessels, utensils of sanctuaries do to be called holy? (See Holy defined below)

ANSWER: None! The sanctuary vessels & utensils were ceremonially purified, by being anointed with oil (the oil was a foreshadow of the coming indwelling Holy Spirit purifying & sanctifying) this anointing set them apart/sanctified then for a working/purpose & made the vessels & utensils holy. (Lev 8:10, 15, 30, Num 7:1)

It's Christ that sanctifies the believer void of any action on their part beyond faith. The moment we believe/trust place our faith in Christ's Sin atoning death, burial & resurrection. Christ justifies/judicially declares the believer righteousness. Eternally saves by sealing (2 Cor 1:22, 5:5, Eph 4:4) them with His Holy Spirit sanctifying/setting them apart, for a work/mission Eph 2:10)

A few sanctified verses:
Act 26:18 Jesus Said; To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Rom 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

1 Cor 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

1 Cor 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

(AMP) 1 Jn 2:
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One [you have been set apart, specially gifted and prepared by the Holy Spirit], and all of you know [the truth because He teaches us, illuminates our minds, and guards us from error].

27 As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, [c]you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him].

Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Jud 1:1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
