It is a mad, mad world
Luke 6:1 Now it came to pass
The Christian life changes, it is a journey, we don't stay fixed in one spot for our entire life. The church has changed dramatically as well. At one time the focus was on salvation by faith. That is an elementary teaching we should go on from there.
on a sabbath, that he was going through the grainfields; and his disciples plucked the ears, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
This is not as organized as grinding grain for meal and making bread. This is the basic level. Those that teach the word are like those who grind grain and bake bread. This in contrast is the earliest stage in sussing out a new doctrine. You go through the Bible like it is a field of wheat picking verses and rubbing them in your hands. This is what the watchmen have been doing for the last six or seven years. Discovering little grains, little gems throughout the Bible that we never saw before.
2 But certain of the Pharisees said, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?
Many of the Christian leaders have taken this approach. No one knows the day or the hour, hence it is not lawful to talk about the rapture. It is an absurd leap and it only works on those who do not know the word of God.
3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he, and they that were with him; 4 how he entered into the house of God, and took and ate the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests alone? 5 And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.
David was fleeing for his life at the time. He was being accused of "insurrection" when in fact it was his son who had been the insurrectionist. This verse gives you a very nice description of what it will be like in "Israel" the land that is consecrated to God, at the time immediately before the Lord's return. Martin Luther experienced this when he nailed his thesis to the church door. This has always been the case when the church unearths some new discovery from the word of God.
6 And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.
Your right hand signifies your work, it was withered because it wasn't used. This is the sabbath, so unlike the Lord Jesus he had submitted himself to these pharisees, you aren't allowed to look at these verses, therefore his hand was withered.
7 And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find how to accuse him. 8 But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
Do you want to be healed? Rise up and stand forth in the midst. The reason your hand is withered is because you have been following the advice of evil doctors, it is their "medicine" that is keeping you withered.
9 And Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to destroy it?
This is another key description of the age. It will be lawful to do harm while doing good will be outlawed. It will be legal to castrate small children while parents who object will be seen as the villain. It will be legal for psychiatrists to prescribe drugs to destroy the lives of little children while prayer and the gospel of salvation will be unlawful.
10 And he looked round about on them all, and said unto him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored.
This is what you must do despite the cancel culture and craziness all around.
11 But they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
Jesus just healed a man who had a withered hand and they are filled with madness? It is a bizarre world.
