Even for this purpose I have raised thee up (part 2)

Romans 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Pharaoh has come to mean "ruler", so you can see this in God saying that He has raised him up. But the literal definition is "Great house". Some of these pastors become "great houses" where the son is also a pastor and maybe the Pastor is the son or grandson of a pastor. Think of the Billy Graham ministry that is now being run by Franklin Graham. There are many, many more examples and we always love to see a man whose kids follow the lord, especially to the third generation. We also know that Pastors are supposed to lead well their children. So do not in any way infer there is anything wrong with a Pastor because he is descended from a men of faith. However, just know that Pharaoh means great house. I once heard that many, if not all the presidents in the US are related, though some are distant relatives. All these kings are heads of "great houses".

2 Timothy 4:3. For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear.

This is a key. If you go to a book store and you go to the Christian book section, look at the titles of the books. That is what people want to hear. You will see they have "multiplied teachers". The titles seem good, they are about encouragement, forgiveness, transformation, and the Lord's protection. They are borderline self help books. In fact they are often simply repackaged self help books. What you are missing is sanctification, that is separation from the world. Cutting off the flesh. Living the life of the altar and the tent. It is as though every book is written to those who are still in Egypt rather than to those who have left Egypt and have crossed the red sea and are now living in the wilderness on manna and the rock that is following them. This makes sense, a "best seller" is going to appeal to a wide audience, to those who are on the broad way that leads to destruction. The best of these books are like signs indicating how to take the off ramp. But none of these books are like a guide leading you on the narrow way that leads to life. You can definitely find those books if you look (seek and you shall find) but not on the best sellers list.

Matthew 7:15 “Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.

What is a wolf interested in? He wants to eat the sheep. That is the goal. So then how does a "false prophet" eat the sheep? Sure, this is spiritual, but if we look at practical examples it will help us understand. During the mortgage meltdown they "ate the sheep" by getting them to buy houses and for five years to pay the mortgage, lets say $2,000 a month for five years, that is $120k and then they pull the rug out on on you by doubling the mortgage, you can't afford it, they foreclose and they get the house back and get to keep the 120k. How were they able to "fleece the sheep"? Well the sheep didn't understand the contract they were signing. Before they can fleece you they have to convince you to sign a contract that you don't understand. Why would you do that? Because you think they are your friend, they want to help you, etc. This is how Satan operates, get you to agree legally for him to have a contract with you. If you commit sin, any sin, that is one way in which you have agreed for sin to rule over you and enslave you. This is why they turn the grace of God into sensuality. Anyone who goes along with that will be enslaved again by sin.

Matthew 24:11 Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

This is an end time prophecy. So look around, there should be many false prophets that are deceiving many. Look at the big mega churches with ten thousand members or more. Listen to the sermons. Do they expound the Bible or do they sound like a self help guru repackaged as a sermon? Look at the music they call "Christian music". If you look at the lyrics would you know it was about Jesus Christ? Look at a hymnal, most of those hymns are crystal clear they are about Jesus Christ. Wherever money is involved you will attract false prophets. Think of them as "bank robbers". Why do they rob banks? Because that is where the money is.

Even for this purpose I have raised thee up (part 3)

Romans 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Matthew 16:11 Why is it you don’t understand that when I told you, ‘Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees,’ it wasn’t about bread?” 12. Then they understood that he had not told them to beware of the leaven in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Why didn't they understand? It is because they do not realize that everything we see is a shadow of the spiritual reality. We need to eat bread, but what we really need is the word of God. That is what truly feeds our spirit and soul. This will open our eyes, the blood of Jesus, simply look at all the things that our blood does for the body and then you will know what Jesus blood does for you.

It is easy to see that God raising up Pharaoh refers to the elites, to the rulers of this age. But, here the emphasis is not so much on Pastors, but on those who define doctrine. Have you ever noticed how everyone wants to label you, are you a dispensationalist? Are you pre-trib, post trib or mid trib? Are you Once Saved Always Saved? Are you a Lutheran or a Calvinist? Etc. I never understood that. I believe in the bible. I know that there is much I don't know. But I don't care if the Bible contradicts some pet doctrine. I also don't care if my understanding is wrong, let the Bible adjust me and I'll change my understanding. Some people like to define the gospel as a few verses in 1 Corinthians. To me the gospel is the entire New Testament.

So then why do we care what some Pharisee or Sadducee teaches? In reality we don't. They teach us about the Bible but soon they have come up with their own doctrinal interpretation, next thing you know we are calling it "Darbyism" or "Calvinism" or whatever. But once it is their teaching it is no longer the Bible's teaching. I want all my doctrines to be biblically based. Are you a pre tribulationist? Well, I believe we should pray that we would be found worthy to escape the wrath that is coming. Are you a mid tribulationist? Well, I believe if you are faced with being required to worship the Antichrist and take the mark of the beast in order to buy or sell that you would be better off rejecting that offer, proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord and having your head chopped off. Are you a post tribulationist? Well I believe that at the end of tribulation Jesus will come in glory, step down on the Mount of Olives, it will split in half and a third of the Jews will flee through that gap. Are you OSAS? I believe that no one can snatch us out of the hands of the Lord Jesus. Are you a dispensationalist? I believe the church age is called "the times of the Gentiles".

Luke 11:37 As he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him. So he went in and reclined at the table. 52. “Woe to you experts in the law! You have taken away the key to knowledge. You didn’t go in yourselves, and you hindered those who were trying to go in.”

I spent twenty years studying the Bible under a group that taught according to Watchman Nee and J.N. Darby. There is a lot of benefit to that training. You learn how to read the Bible and interpret the Bible. That said, my understanding has changed significantly. That doesn't mean that J.N. Darby and Watchman Nee were bad teachers, it means that we see through a glass darkly and as current events unfold the prophecies our understanding changes. Both Darby and Nee taught before Israel became a nation again. They taught before we had computers. Before we had atomic bombs. Watchman Nee was arrested in 1952, so technically that was after the bomb and after Israel was reformed. However all of his major works were published before 1945 or were based on messages given before 1945.

But what I have noticed is they use the teachings of these various teachers to hinder those who are trying to study the word of God. Instead of saying this contradicts the Bible they'll say it contradicts Nee or Darby and therefore you need to stop. That is not a valid reason, however, it is a standard reason in denominations. If you contradict their official teachings you will be excommunicated. However, if you contradict the Bible there are many denominations who openly do that. The very act of being "denominated" does that.

Matthew 15:8 This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

This is what makes it hard, don't look at what they say, look at what they do. They will say great things about Jesus being the good shepherd and laying His life down for the sheep. But where were they during the mortgage meltdown and where were they when people were fired because they didn't want to take an experimental vaccine?

Matthew 15:9 They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands.”

We need to discern between human commands and Jesus' commands. Did Jesus ever tell us to not teach about the rapture? No. Did Jesus ever teach us to ignore the prophets? No. Did Jesus tell us to not talk about sin and hell? No.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Those who teach that this is a "works gospel" are ignorant. Jesus' blood washing us from our sins is according to the Law. It is a sin offering a trespass offering and a Peace offering. For us to receive Jesus atoning sacrifice is to keep God's commandments. To be baptized is also to keep His commandments. He is the one that told us to come out from among their midst and be clean and touch no unclean thing, that is also His commandment. To love one another is His commandment. To forgive even as you have been forgiven is also one of His commandments.

Jesus death on the cross is not some shortcut to heaven, it fulfilled the law, He died according to the law as the Passover lamb of God. Jesus is the incarnated word of God, that includes these verses in Ecclesiastes.

I did a search on "bible references on the rapture". I looked through 24 pages of results on google, this site did not show up. On DuckDuckGo it was on the third page. My question was how did the 24,000 new visitors to this blog in the last 11 days find it? Certainly not by doing a search. I think it must be word of mouth, and so that should be encouraging to us and also instructive to believers.

Why I don't cover certain doctrines

Whenever someone hears I have a blog about the rapture the first question is "pre tribulation, mid trib or post trib?" This is a subject I don't directly address even though I think I have thoroughly covered it if you actually read the posts. One of the major things I have learned from the Bible is that every believer is responsible to have their faith resting directly on the revelation of Jesus Christ, that is the rock on which we are to build our house of faith.

1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

We have been told that there are many false prophets. I am not trying to sell anyone on any doctrine, rather my goal is that anyone who reads as much as one post on this blog will get the Bible. The Bible is the sure word of prophecy.

Hebrews 5:14 - But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Not everyone is ready for solid food. Many of these doctrines are not for the newly saved. So the Bible is very smart it doesn't ram rod anything down your throat. Occasionally you will get a verse you don't understand, that is fine, it is little by little we build up our faith.

Philippians 1:9-10 - And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

It is love with knowledge, the focus is not on our knowledge but our love growing. And we don't want love without discernment. If you have love without discernment you will be overlooking red flags, you will be superficial, you will be involved in harmful relationships, you will be easily manipulated and all of those things leads to bad character traits. Knowledge should build up our ability to spot the red flags and not allow yourself to be manipulated.

To me this is the real focus. The apostasy is love without knowledge or discernment. They are manipulated, they lack wisdom, their understanding of the gospel is superficial.

Hebrews 4:12 - For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

This is what we really need, we need the word of God to act on us. For example, are you clinging to some doctrine because of the thoughts and intentions of the heart? Is it because you aren't ready to give up the country club? Or is it because you are standing on the rock, the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God?

Romans 12:2 - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

This is an essential skill to the Christian life. We must be able to discern what the will of God is. We have a shield of faith, now faith comes from hearing and hearing is the word of God. This is how I share on this blog, I use the word of God as a shield. This is probably the most contentious topic today and yet I hardly get any flak because I standing behind this shield of faith, the word of God. Vicki Goforth Parnell is a very good example of prayer, I think I have set forth an example of using the word of God as a shield of faith.

James 1:5 - If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Do not worry about being a fool, that is fine, we are all born fools. Just pray. Ask God to give you wisdom and understanding and discernment.

1 Corinthians 2:14 - The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

This is another reason to avoid debates, mostly they are with the natural person. They can't understand, so debating is useless. Christians need to learn to use their spirit to discern, we have been raised to depend on our brain, on our logic, on our "common sense". What we need to do is humble ourselves and open ourselves to the Lord to shine on us.

John 7:24 - Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.

They judged Jesus for healing on the Sabbath. He repeatedly showed them how hypocritical and unrighteous that was, but they used it as an excuse to condemn Him. Today it is about being contrary to some pet doctrine. People no longer base their faith on what the word of God says but on what they understand some doctrine to be.
