Acts 1:1-11 I tell you the end from the beginning

1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

The former book is the gospel of Luke. That book presents the gospel to those who are raptured in the first rapture. They are like the honor students, for them the gospel began months before Jesus was born whereas Mark is the “Cliff notes” version which begins with the ministry of John the Baptist. He doesn’t say he is writing this for “the honor students” but rather for Theophilus, those who love God. He also tells us that the gospel tells us all about Jesus from beginning to the day he was taken up to heaven. But this final part is amazing “after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen”. The Lord’s ministry had this goal to give instructions to the apostles and it didn’t stop at his crucifixion, those instructions continued right up until He was taken up. The Lord’s ministry is an example for us. It is the pattern.

3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

There is a basic principle that God tells us the end from the beginning. We are here right now giving many convincing proofs from the Bible, from our experiences, from the signs in the heavens, from dreams and visions that everything we are witnessing is what we were told must happen. We are also talking about the kingdom of God. We are also told by the Lord that we need to be watching and waiting for His return and here the disciples are told to be watching and waiting for “the gift my Father promised”. To be baptized with the Holy Spirit is to be immersed “with” the Holy Spirit.

6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

It is not for us to know times or dates, however what is for us to know is Jesus. We are to be His witnesses. Not only so but what we will receive is not some secret information about what the Lord is going to do, no we will receive power to actually work together with the Lord to do what the Lord is going to do.

9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

That is the rapture. The Lord’s resurrection was not “the rapture” event even though the rapture indicates the resurrection power. Rather the true type of the rapture event is right here when the Lord is taken up in front of them.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Again, God is telling us the end from the beginning. The way the church age begins is the way it will end. So then our focus should be to remain in “the city of God, the city of Peace” until the end of the age, to give many convincing proofs that the Lord resurrected and is alive, to speak on the kingdom of God, and to be the Lord’s witnesses.

The month of Elul is an acronym for "I am my Beloved's and my Beloved's is mine" It is also the time of "the king is in the field" -- Dr. Barry Awe

The expression "no one knows the day or the hour" is not used in Luke. It is only used in Mark and Matthew. Luke is the book that gives us the word to those who are raptured before the tribulation and the Lord says "no one knows the hour", in other words it isn't an appointed feast day.

It wouldn't make sense for Mark to use this term to refer to the rapture since those who are taken during the tribulation are taken over many days, rather it appears to refer to the start of the Tribulation.

In Matthew it could refer to either the start of the Tribulation or the new heaven and new earth.

It is very likely that this word "no one knows the day or the hour" does refer to the Feast of Trumpets, but not to the pre-tribulation rapture.

The Feast of Trumpets announces the coming of the king 10 days prior to Atonement. If these 10 days refer to Atonement it is very likely that the Revelation 12 sign was the feast of Trumpets and started a 10 year period known as Jacob's trouble.

Verse References that the Pre - tribulation rapture takes place in the Summer

Song of Songs 2:10 My beloved spake and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. 11 For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over, it is gone: 12 The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing is come, And the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land; 13 The fig-tree melloweth her winter figs, And the vines in bloom give forth [their] fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!

Apparently the Jews had two seasons, winter and summer, so this is a fairly clear reference that it is not in the winter.

Amos 8:1 Thus did Jehovah shew unto me; and behold, a basket of summer-fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer-fruit. And Jehovah said unto me, The end is come upon my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.

This verse is a play on words because the expression basket of summer fruit sounds like the same word they have for "apocalyptic end". It corresponds nicely with Song of Songs, so this end comes at the time of harvest of the summer fruit. Also we just had an archaelogical discovery of basket of summer fruit from Israel and from this time (Post #1732). A confirmation that we are talking about this summer.

Jeremiah 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

A third reference that ties nicely in with Amos and suggests that the rapture (our being snatched or saved from the Tribulation) takes place in the summer and also refers to the rapture as a harvest of the first fruits.

Luke 21:29 And he spoke a parable to them: Behold the fig-tree and all the trees; 30 when they already sprout, ye know of your own selves, [on] looking [at them], that already the summer is near. 31 So also *ye*, when ye see these things take place, know that the kingdom of God is near.

Yes, the Lord is likening the seven year tribulation to the "summer" but is He also referring to the start of this with the pre tribulation rapture as well taking place in the summer?

Luke 13:6 And he spoke this parable: A certain [man] had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit upon it and did not find [any]. 7 And he said to the vinedresser, Behold, [these] three years I come seeking fruit on this fig-tree and find none: cut it down; why does it also render the ground useless? 8 But he answering says to him, Sir, let it alone for this year also, until I shall dig about it and put dung, 9 and if it shall bear fruit—but if not, after that thou shalt cut it down.

Many have noted that this is the fourth year since the Revelation 12 sign. You would not have fruit on the tree until the end of the summer. And this year on the Jewish calendar is the "Dung" year (all numbers are Jewish letters so they also spell out names).

Proverbs 10:5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

The Lord is a wise son so we can conclude He will be gathering in the summer. The sleeping church are the sons who cause shame.

John 11:6 When therefore he heard, He is sick, he remained two days then in the place where he was.

Many think these two days refer to the church age.

7 Then after this he says to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again. 8 The disciples say to him, Rabbi, [even but] now the Jews sought to stone thee, and goest thou thither again?

This refers to Jesus returning at the end of the age to Israel as the Messianic King in glory.

9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?

There are 12 hours in the day on the Equinox. The Equinox according to the Bible is "the end of the year". The Spring equinox would be the end of the winter, the new moon after that would be the first month of the year. The autumnal equinox would be the end of Summer, the new moon after that would be Rosh Hashanah. This particular equinox is the spring equinox because Jesus was resurrected in the first month of the year, the beginning of summer. So then it would make sense that the First fruits, the basket of fruit, would be gathered at the end of summer.

11 These things said he; and after this he says to them, Lazarus, our friend, is fallen asleep, but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.

The rapture of Lazarus is going to wake up the sleeping church. Later it even describes this event having a profound effect on the world so that they have to crucify Jesus or else the whole world will follow Him (chop off heads during the tribulation).

12 The disciples therefore said to him, Lord, if he be fallen asleep, he will get well. 13 But Jesus spoke of his death, but *they* thought that he spoke of the rest of sleep. 14 Jesus therefore then said to them plainly, Lazarus has died.

The rapture first and foremost is going to raise the dead who have died in Christ.

15 And I rejoice on your account that I was not there, in order that ye may believe. But let us go to him.

Again, the rapture will be a great opportunity to strengthen the faith of the believers.

16 Thomas therefore, called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, Let *us* also go, that we may die with him. 17 Jesus therefore [on] arriving found him to have been four days already in the tomb.

Again, it has been 4 days since the Revelation 12 sign. In fact, on the Equinox it will be a full four days.

The last day of summer is September 22nd

Eight Days or Six days?

So this leaves another unresolved issue, the mount of Transfiguration is a very clear reference to the pre tribulation rapture. Both Mark and Matthew refer to it being six days after Jesus rebuked Peter, saying "Get thee behind me Satan". In that sense they seem to be referring to both the 9th of AV (Peter tells Jesus He doesn't need to go to the cross) and the 15th of AV (Tu B'AV).

But Luke says it is about "eight days after these words". These words are when Jesus sent them out "to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick". So then there were two days from that word, perhaps referring to the church age, until the sleeping church had their 9th of AV experience demonstrating a lack of faith in the Lord.

The eighth day also refers to the day Jesus and John the Baptist were circumcised, offered to God. The day the man child is caught up to God. It is a new beginning, so the Pre-tribulation rapture is a new beginning whereas the rapture in the Middle and end of the tribulation is simply the sixth day right before the seventh day -- the millenial kingdom.

Luke 12:40 And ye therefore, be *ye* ready, for in the hour in which ye do not think [it], the Son of man comes.

The Pre-tribulation rapture takes place before the rapture, it is not a set feast for all because not all will be raptured, and it is in an hour you do not think, hence it is not a set feast day. The Feast of Trumpets should be the start of the tribulation which is why Mark and Matthew refer to that day. The rapture should take place about two weeks before the Feast of Trumpets because their will probably be a telecommunications blackout after the event, the Lord telling the Earth to be silent before Him. However, you would not have a telecommunications blackout at the time of the Feast of Trumpets because you want the whole world to see and hear.

Isaiah 26:1-11 -- Do you see what I see?

1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

This day refers to the Feast of Trumpets and is prophetic for the end of this age. I like this song, this coming cataclysmic event is evidence that there is no savior but our God and there is salvation in no other name.

2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

This verse refers to the rapture of the saints. What is confusing is that there will be at least two raptures, a “pre trib rapture and a post trib rapture”. That is for the believers, then on top of that there is the rapture of Israel. So I suspect this is closer to the conclusion of everything, not the beginning.

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

The saints are raptured to a place of perfect peace during the tribulation.

5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.

While the saints are kept in heaven the Lord will bring down the arrogant to the dust. These aren’t saints, so they must be unbelievers. Many believers have the mistaken understanding that we have nothing to do with what is happening on the world, or with the leaders of these countries. The bible weaves the story of what is happening to both together. One verse it is the rapture, the next verse is the judgement on the corrupt rulers.

6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

This is justice, as they have done it will be done to you. They tread down the poor and needy, so it is only right that they are tread upon by the poor and needy. We have been commanded to love others as the Lord loved us. He loved us when we were in sin, when we were dead in our sins and offenses. Then we are told to love in deed, not just words. So it is a commandment of the Lord that we stand in defense of unbelievers, sinners, and those who are in sins.

7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just. 8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

Those who are raptured are judged. You have the wise and foolish virgins who either did or did not prepare. You also have those who are taken in the field and in the bed, while others are left behind. You have those who are feeding God’s people when the Lord returns and you have those who are burying their talent and feasting with the world. Those in the bed, are they sleeping? That wouldn’t make sense because we are warned repeatedly to watch and not sleep. Does it mean that some will be sick and infirm when the Lord comes? Or is it simply referring to the fact that when the Lord returns it will be night in some parts and day in other parts?

9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

This will begin the millennial kingdom of Christ where His judgements are in the earth and the world will learn righteousness. It begins with the world reaping what they have sown during the tribulation.

10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.

Many do not understand why the Lord tarries in His judgement, but it is to prove this point. Shewing the wicked favor does not result in their repentance from evil. Likewise, they see a land of uprightness as a prime opportunity to run their scams since people are naturally trusting. Regardless of how much you might speak on the majesty of the Lord they will refuse to see it.

11 Lord, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.

And this is why the end of this age is a time of rejoicing for some and a time of woe for others. Do you see the Lord’s majesty? Do you see that His hand is lifted up? Deal with your envy, because when the Lord judges it is like a forest fire that devours up all the dried out trees.

3 days of darkness

Jeremiah 13:16 Give glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the mountains of twilight; and ye shall look for light, but he will turn it into the shadow of death, and make [it] gross darkness.

Joel 2:2 a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and gross darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains;—a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, to the years of generations and generations.

Amos 5:20 Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

Zephaniah 1:15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and gross darkness,

Luke 22:53 When I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.

Luke 23:44 And it was about [the] sixth hour, and there came darkness over the whole land until [the] ninth hour.

John 3:19 And this is the judgment, that light is come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light; for their works were evil.

Jude 6 And angels who had not kept their own original state, but had abandoned their own dwelling, he keeps in eternal chains under gloomy darkness, to [the] judgment of [the] great day;...13 raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shames; wandering stars, to whom has been reserved the gloom of darkness for eternity.

Nahum 1:8 But with an overrunning flood he will make a full end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

This vision, dream or prophecy that she shares does not appear to be Biblical. However, we have already seen there is a Biblical basis to say that the wicked or damned will be raised out of the grave to greet the fallen angels immediately after the rapture. The idea that they are the ones reserved for gloomy darkness is scriptural and the idea that this darkness will pursue the Lord's enemies is also scriptural. The idea that the Day of the Lord's coming is a day of darkness is scriptural. And the idea that both the fallen angels and the spots in your feast are both reserved for this darkness is scriptural. So with that as an introduction here is what some are sharing about "3 days of darkness".

This reminds me of Ken Peter's dream that he had in 1980. He lived in California and said he was shocked because at the time it was the most verdant and agriculturally rich land in the world and yet in his dream it was a drought wasteland.

Isaiah 26:12-21 Open ye the gates

12 Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

The church is the Lord’s masterpiece, He has been building it for 2,000 years and the end of the age is a display of all the works He has wrought in us.

13 O Lord our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. 14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

Human history also testifies to the greatness of our Lord. We discover every day that many, many societies that existed previously have all been visited, destroyed and their memory has perished. What is it that makes Israel special? It is the Bible.

15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth. 16 Lord, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. 17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord.

This is the great sign in heaven that we saw September 2017, and which John wrote about in Revelation 12. Our prayers are precious to God and God's answer to our prayers is precious to us. This is what makes our experiences special.

18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

At the time of the Lord’s coming the people of God will be in pain, like birth pains, crying out to Him. The world may be rejoicing, but once the baby is born and caught up to heaven (the first rapture) then the world’s rejoicing will turn to sorrow and God’s people will be the ones rejoicing.

19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

The dead in Christ rise and then those of us who remain will also be with the Lord in the air. Hymns of praise and worship, that is what makes a celebration special. We have the word, we have answered prayers, we have songs of praise and we have testimonies of those who have been raised from the dead.

20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

During the Tribulation those that are raptured are able to hide in these chambers till the Lord’s indignation is past. But what will the situation be like? The Lord will be indignant at the sins and abusive behavior of the corrupt leaders. Reading this chapter I was apprehensive, not another chapter about a zombie apocalypse, or gloomy dark demons released from their chains to go chase down the Lord's enemies on Earth. But we don't have to see that, we can hide in our chambers for a moment while the Lord's indignation is past.

21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

This is a picture of the end of this age. It begins with the festival of trumpets and this chapter in Isaiah is always read during this festival. After the rapture we have the four horsemen of the apocalypse followed by the fifth seal where the martyrs are revealed and their blood under the altar is disclosed. What are the horsemen? The Gospel and the false gospel (represented by the White horse), war, famine and plague. What we will learn is that there are many, many people responsible for these atrocities that the Lord will punish at this time. A lot of blood guiltiness will be revealed and punished.

James 2:13 for judgment [will be] without mercy to him that has shewn no mercy. Mercy glories over judgment.

I think we all realize time is very short, the Lord's return is imminent. We are like those cramming for the Final exam. I am reminded of Bill Belechik the day before the Superbowl between New England and Seatle. He was practicing this one play and drilling into this new cornerback how to defend it. Then it was that play and the interception the cornerback made that won the game for them. That is the kind of lesson we are looking for at this point.

Praying over this I was reminded of something that happened to me more than 40 years ago. I was in high school in England. I had done something wrong for which I was punished and only after punishing me did they learn I had done something else wrong as well. The headmaster told me if he had known about both things at the same time he would have expelled me but didn't think it was right to expel me over this newly discovered infraction (basically I had written something that was seen as insulting to one of the teachers).

A few months later we are taking our final exams and the teacher I had insulted gave the class a list of ten questions and told us that the final exam would be three essay questions from that list. I thought no problem, I'll look at these questions the night before the exam. When I did I was shocked, each question was so broad that each one covered an entire chapter in the textbook. I was one of the top three students in the class but some of these questions I had no idea about, in fact when I looked at them more closely I realized he had never even talked about these things. That made me angry, I realized it would take several hours to prepare for just one of these questions. Then I asked "which questions did he talk about"? I then figured out that there were only three questions and they basically covered the entire semester. I figured he has to ask at least one of these questions and maybe even two of them. So I changed my strategy and decided to completely focus on these three, ignore the other seven. I knew I'd get 0 on those so I had to get 100% of these to have a chance. Well on the exam he asked all three. I felt like I had guessed fast ball down and away, guessed right and got all of it and was watching it sail over the wall. In all my school experience never did I crush an exam like that, completely and totally aced it.

A few days later the scores were posted and I got the lowest grade in the class, I got a 25. If I had gotten a 95 and someone else had gotten a 100 I wouldn't have believed it. This I knew was completely bogus. However, this was a favorite teacher to many and if I complained to the headmaster this teacher would have been fired. I was visiting from the US for a year and the idea of coming, being an obnoxious little insulting kid and then getting this teacher fired was something I didn't want to do. But then I thought "maybe I have no choice"? I had been accepted to university, got into my first choice, and they said that as long as my grades didn't drop below a certain level I was in. So I pulled out the pencil and paper and did the calculations to see if this grade would drop me below that point. It didn't. So in reality this test score was in the grand scheme of things meaningless to me. But what about others? If I do nothing he could keep doing this to others and that would be on me.

Finally I came up with a solution. I was in the Royal Air Force and this teacher was our commanding officer. We had to return our uniforms and mine was missing a button. So I decided I'd let him judge (as you have done it will be done unto you). If he made me pay in any way for that button then he would pay for the exam. I went up to him at lunch and he was so terrified he was shaking and wouldn't even look at me. I told him about the button and he waved his hand and said "forget about it". So, I forgot about the button and test.

Thirty years later my older brother is back at the school for a reunion and this teacher seeks him out to tell him how much he appreciated me. Imagine remembering a student for 30 years, particularly one that he obviously disliked at the time. Mercy is a powerful thing. The golden rule says that as you have done unto others it will be done unto you. We all want to be treated with mercy, so then the golden rule is really commanding us to treat others with mercy. The Lord's coming will include His judgement so the last lesson I would leave with everyone is this, Mercy glories over judgement.
